the next club year Tuesday evening at the Youth and Community center. Officers who will serve under Mrs. Christen are Mrs. Guy Koos, vice-president; Mrs. Roger Schuster, secretary; Mrs. J. Clark Mayclin, treasurer, and Mrs. Donald Walters, corresptading secretary. The 11 sorority pledges will be initiated in ceremonies to be conducted next Tuesday afternoon, starting at 3:30 o'clock. A tea will be held from 5 until 6 o’clock, after which the entire group will go to the Colonial restaurant in Fort Wayne, Where dinner will be served. Reservations for the dinner must be in no later than Friday evening. These can be made by calling Mrs. Denzii Dowell, at 3-3221. A meeting of the initiation committee will be held Friday evening at 8:30 o’clock, at the home of Mrs. Dowell. The following committee members are urged to be present: Mrs. Kenneth Gaunt, Mrs. Herman Lankenau, Mrs. Mayclin, Mrs. Schuster, Mrs. Mary Jane Runyon, Mrs. Richard Mies, and Mrs. E. M. Boggess. The same committee will meet Monday evening at 7:30 oc'lock, to decorate for initiation. Mrs. Dowell, who is chairman of the dance "Summer Kappades,” announced that tickets are still available from any sorority member, or they may be acquired by calling her. The dance will be held at the Sunset park pavilion June 29, with music to be provided by the "Keynoters.” It was announced that corsages will be available at the door the evening of the dance. The August picnic was discussed, and it was decided to have a wiener bake at Hanna-Nuttmtm. The initiates will be hostesses, with Mrs. Paul Hammond assisting the new members in making plans.
EAGLES AUXILIARY ELECTS MRS. WHITACRE PRESIDENT Mrs. Dwight Whitacre was installed madam president of the Eagles auxiliary and held her first business meeting at the Eagles hall Tuesday evening. Installing officer for the new president and other officers elected recently was Mrs. Fredia Irwin. Madam vice president is Mrs. Ethel Teeple; junior past madam president, Mrs. George Myers; chaplain, Mrs. Richard Baker; conductor; Mrs. Evelyn Spangler; and secretary. Mrs. Wesley Morris. Mrs. Robert Witham will serve as trustee, one year; Mrs. Bessie Pomerenke, inside guard; and Mrs. Bertha Kramer, outside guard. The new president’s first action in office was to present Mrs. George Myers, outgoing president, with a certificate and a past madam president’s pin. Appointing committees for the year, Mrs. Whitacre named all past madam presidents to the trial committee: Mrs. Mervin Stahl, delinquent committee; trustee, to the finance committee; Mrs. Homer Hahn, membership committee; Mrs. John Morgan, publicity committee and auditor; Mrs. Wesley Morris, visiting committee chairman. In the new president’s business meeting that evening, elections were held and there officers elected: Mrs. Fredia Irwin, treasurer; Mrs. Ora Lou Beavo, trustee, three years; Mrs. Margaret Fritz, trustee, two years. Acting as installation officer for these members was Mrs. George Myers. Refreshments were served and a social gathering held following the meeting. MAGLEY WOMEN’S GUILD HEARS LESSON, SEES FILM June’s meeting of the Magley Women's Guild, held in the basement of the Salepi Evangelical and Reformed church recently, began with a piano prelude by Mrs. Ella Scherry. “The Kingdom of God on Earth.” was the first hymn sung, with prayer afterward by Mrs. Darrell Arnold. “Christian Service” was the lesson, given by Mrs. Eugene Murchland. The Rev. H. E. Settlage showed the film, “The Fact Family.” Mrs. Murchland also read a poem, “I’ll Go, Maybe”; she was followed by the hymn “The Christian Life.” Mrs. Arnold read the prayer from the prayer calendar. Vice president, Mrs. Carl Snyder conducted the business meeting. Hostesses for the evening were the Mesdames Eugene Murchland, Darrell Arnold, .Anna Beineke, John Gerber, Richard Conrad, Lester Cowans, and Miss Anna Helmrich. All members of Psi lota Xi sorority are to turn in their horse show tickets to either Miss Jackie James or Miss Lu Ann Lehman by Friday, Mrs. Betty McNerney announced Tuesday evening. Psi lota Xi is co-sponsoring, with the Limberlost Trail Riders, the horse show at Saddle Lake -next Sunday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Union Chapel Ladies Aid will meet all day TTiursday at the church with a potluck dinner and quilting and sewing. All ladies of the community are invited to ( attend. / Friday evening at 8 o’clock the American Legion auxiliary will convene at the Legion home. All members are urged\to attend, for this meeting will hold election of officers. Practice for children’s day will be held at the First Presbyterian church Saturday at 1:30 p.m. "Water, the Blood of the Land,” will be the topic of the conservation program of the next meeting of the Decatur Garden club, to be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Mrs. N. A. Bixler will be in charge of the program and Mrs. Russell Acker, hostess. Monroe Better Homes Demonstration club will meet Miesday evening at the home of Mrs. William Rupert, at 7:30 o’clock. Members are to bring samples of textile painting, punch work, embroidery, and other types of handicraft, to the meeting. WSCS of the Mount Tabor church at Bobo will meet at the home of Mrs. Glen Chronister at 7:30 p.m., Friday.

4-H Junior Leaders Hold Monthly Meet Talk On Awards Is - Given At Meeting Eighty-two members, two guests and six adult leaders of the Adams county junior leaders met at the Co-op building in Monroe Monday night for the monthly meeting. A talk on awards possible to 4-H club members was made by Elden Holsapple, county boys’ 4-H club leader. Holsapple pointed out that there are 25 state contests open to 4-Hers, including trips to Chicago, Washington, DjC., Gettysburg, Pa., and many other places, which may be won by hard work throughout the entire year. J ' Holsapple asked each leader to keep a careful record of his activities, including a scrapbook of ail newspaper articles in which his name appears, for these contests. Good record books, all projects completed, achievement records, meetings attended, judging, talks, and other 4-H projects are necessary to be a winner, he explained. Pledges were led by Jane Wass and Kenny Von Gunten. Mark Ripley, Linda Kruetzman, Dennis Schuller, John Fuhrman, and Lois Gerke explained what happened at the 39th annual 4-H roundup. The Centrallettes presented two songs, “Ninety-nine Ways” and “Party Doll.” Joy Everhart then sang “Lucky Lips” and “Just My Baby.” Betty Hough, Joyce Emherlin, Kenny Von Gunten, and Joe Kuhn were placed on a committee with the officers to organize the annual bake sale and car wash. Larry Busick, Joy -Everhart, and Pat Krueckeberg led the group entertainment. Refreshments were provided by the Blue Creek township 4-H clubs, with Hubert Kuhn in charge. ■ Adult leaders, in addition to Holsapple and Mrs. Loraine Fenstermaker, county leaders, were Mrs. Ed Gerbers, Mrs. Orval Neuenschwander, Mrs. Gail Cook, and Mrs. Milton Kruetzman.

Mrs. Mabel Striker, county recorder, is an Indianapolis business visitor today. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson and children David, Richard and Julia will leave Thursday morning to attend the Yankee-White Sox baseball game to be played at Comiskey park, Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Anderson and sons David and Terry Lee, route one, Hoagland, motored to Klamath Falls, Oregon, to visit Anderson’s relatives, the past three weeks. On the return trip, the Andersons also visited Yellowstone National park. Mrs. Delton Passwater returned home Monday after spending last week with her son Robert and his family in Fort Wayne. She attended baccalaureate and commencement exercises of North Side high school. Her grandson, Bob Phsswater, was a member of the North Side graduating class. Passwater plans to attend Wabash college at /Crawfordsville, wnere he will take up law studies. Assessrrtdnts Checked By Board Os Review Walter Koos, county assessor, and a member of the board of review, announced today that more than half of the townships are already in and have been thoroughly check by members of the board, which has now been in session eight days. Members of the board this year are Koos, county auditor Ed Jaberg, county treasurer Waldo Neal, and two members appointed by the judge, David J. Schwartz, Democrat of north of Berne, and Dick Burdg, Republican, of Decatur.
