Mr. and Mrs. Deane Dorwin left Sunday for a two weeks’ vacation in Fort Lauderdale. Fla. John Dorwin left by train Sunday for Clarkla, Idaho, where he will work three months for the U. S. forest service blister rust control program in the St. Joe national forest. Mr. and Mrs. August J. Kelly and daughter, Colleen, spent Sunday with Mrs. Kelly’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hendrickson of near Columbia City. Colleen will spend the week visiting her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voglewede and children Bobby, Mary Ann and Tommy, returned to their home in Detroit., Mich., Sunday after spending the holiday week end with Mrs. Charles Voglewede and other relatives. Mrs. Arthur Voglewede motored to Cincinnati this morning. She will be accompanied home by her daughter, Mary Lou, who has completed her freshman year at Mt. St. Joseph. Tommie O’Dowd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry O’Dowd of Fort Wayne, is spending the week with his grandmother, Mrs. A. R. Holthouse. milk cooler, hay and straw, were < lost in a fire on the Robert Hough farm 2V4 miles southwest of Geneva last week. The Geneva firemen saved the other farm buildings. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Inniger and sons Ricky and Ervin Lee left last week for Caracas, Venezuela, where they will spend two weeks with Mrs. Inniger's brother, Robert Case. Elmer E. Liechty, of Berne, has been appointed assistant street and water commissioner of that city, replacing Henry Ehrsam, effective June 1. Sherman Stucky was elected president of the Berne Lions club recently to succeed Artie Kiefer of that city. Robert A. Dager, of Monroeville, route 1, was fined a total of $25.50 in justice of the peace court in Bluffton for failure to yield the right of way. James Piqune, 19, of Warren, route 3. entered a plea of guilty in the Wells county circuit court to a charge of contributing to the delinquency of two minor girls, and was fined S2OO and costs. Mr. and Mrs. Ned L. Ray and daughter Denise, and Mrs. Leland Ray, of Decatur, have returned from Dixon. 111., where they attended the funeral of their uncle, Leroy McCordle, who died May 29. Mr. and Mrs. George Ray and daughters Evelyn and Gail, of Mari ion, were guests Sunday at the homes of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harlen Jones, and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Ray of Decatur. Mayor and Mrs. Robert Cole and daughter Nancy and Mrs. Lydia Gerber motored to Lafayette Sunday to attend the graduation exercises of Allan Cole at Purdue University, where Cole received his degree in engineering. He and Mrs. Cole will leave for Lynn, Mass., Tuesday mornmg. where he has accepted a position with General Electric. Joseph C. Costello has returned home from Notre Dame University. where he was graduated at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, in a part of the three-day graduation exercidbs. He received a bachelor of science degree in commerce. Attending the exercises to see him

graduate were Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Costello, Decatur, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Costello, of Fort Wayne. Mrs. Carrie Haubold, Bryce Thomas, and Mrs. Harry Dailey and her son, Jack, traveled Sunday to Lafayette’s Purdue University campus to attend the graduation of Thomas’ son, Dan. A chemistry major, he received a bachelor of science degree. Mrs. Faye Mutschler has been dismissed from the Bluffton Clinic, where she has .been a patient fo| three weeks. The Rev. Estes Mason, Baptist minister of Crystal Springs, Miss., and his family, are visiting with his Menno Burkhalter, of Berne. Two Minor Wrecks Reported In City Three Drivers Fined On Traffic Charges City police reported two accidents over the weekend, and several arrests. At 4:06 p. m. Saturday a car driven by Dorothy Reynolds, of 234 Stratton, driving south on Front street, struck a car driven by Carl L. Mankey, of route Craigville, which was headed west on Monroe street. Mankey's vehicle suffered S4OO damage, and the Reynolds’ car suffered S2OO damage. A car driven by John L. Heftier, Jr., of 940 Walnut street, turned right from an alley onto Washington street in the 300 block, and struck a car driven by John F. Mayer, 604 Washington street, which was headed west on Washington. Damage was estimated at S4O for the Mayer car, and $lO for Hefner’s vehicle. The wreck occurred at 5J3 p. m. Saturday. Carl William Mauller was fined $15.75 in justice of the peace court Saturday for improper passing on U. S. 27. David E. Smith, of route 1, Monroe, was fined a total of $15.75 for reckless driving behind Burk's elevator at 10:35 p. m. Friday night. Vincent E. Hart, of Shaker Heights. 0., was fined a total of $21.75 for speeding 45 miles an hour in a 30-mile an hour zone, and failure to stop for a stop sign at Nuttman and Fifth streets. He was arrested at 1:30 a. m. Saturday. Robert and Margaret Etzler Bieberich, Monroeville, became the parents of a daughter, weighing six pounds, 144 ounces, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
