Man Confesses To Slaying Two Girls » 'Admits Strangling, Stabbing Victims WATERBURY. Conn. (UP) — State police planned today to question George Davies, the confessed slayer of Brenda Jane Doucette, 9. and Gaetene Boivin, 17, about the 1952 disappearance of a 10-year-old Wyoming girl from a northwest Connecticut summer camp. Davies, a paroled sex offender and the' father of four children, confessed Wednesday that he strangled and stabbed Miss Boivin here May 9, only four days before killing the Doucette child in nearby Wolcott. Davies, 38, told police he choked she pretty French-Canadian immigrant, then stabbed her 19 times with a screwdriver — the same weapon he used to kill the Doucette girl. Miss Boivin's body was found by a hunter Wednesday, six miles from her Waterbury home and about three miles from where little Brenda Jane was slain May 13. Davies, a part-time machipe tool operatoi - who was paroled in 1954 from a prison term for molesting two Thomaston girls, told police he killed both girls when they resisted his attempts at sexual assault. MOORE (c«»ttMH from «■») which is continuing its investigation. They are Nile Teverbaugh, former head of the right-of-way division of the highway department in the Craig administration; Harry Doggett, Teverbaugh’s chief aide, and Milan attorney Robert Peak, a friend and business partner of Smith. All were charged with embezzlement or conspiracy to embezzle public funds and steal. The first phase of the grand jury probe, which resulted in the four indictments, was based solely on right-of-way purchases along Madison Ave., site of an expressway now under construction. Tinder has indicated the inquiry has branched into other facets of the highway operations in the Craig administration. Meanwhile, chairmen of the Indiana Democratic and Republican State Committees sent telegramis to U.S. Atty. Gen. Herbert Brownell urging FBI investigations of the scandal. They are Charles E. Skillen for the Democrats and Robert W. Matthews for the Republicans. PlKup 2nd pgh: Skillen said Skillen said m his telegram: “Speaking as a citizen and taxpayer in the interest of all citizens and taxpayers in the State of Indiana, I believe the current highway scandal should be fully and completely investigated without political pressure or consideration. “The Democratic administrations of McNutt, Townsend and Schricker were free of any sug?estion of graft or malfeasance, am proud of their record and want to be equally proud of all state administrations. "Unless this is cleared up promptly, this state will be under a cloud for years to come, and future allocations of federal funds will be in jeopardy. Reports of political favoritism are widespread In Indiana, and I am convinced the federal government must act in the interest of good government here and elsewhere. The FBI is the proper agency to undertake l a full-scale investigation.’’ Matthews’ telegram read: “As you are no doubt aware, Indiana has been rocked by a highway scandal involving millions of dollars in federal funds. For some reasons that the people of Indiana cannot understand, the agencies of the federal government that should be vitally concerned have apparently taken no action. “This has caused comment detrimental to the fine reputation of your office and the FBI. As a Republican party official having strong faith in your integrity as well as that of J. Edgar Hoover, l usge that you »tops to probe this unsavory affair; “Preliminary investigation has resulted in indictment of four persons affiliated with both political parties. These men—if they are guilty—have violated the fundamental tenets of their respective parties. They or any others who may be guilty should not be spared because of political influence. RIVERS (Continued from Pn*e One) of newly planted fields was expected to do as much damage, if not more, than overflowing creeks. Showers and scattered thunderstorms with locally heavy ram were expected today, tonight and Friday in the state’s midsection and south portion. Upstate, the rain will end by nightfall. Temperatures did a turnabout from normal tendencies Wednesday. South Bend, normally among the coolest areas, had the high temperature of 82 degrees. Evansville, normally among the warmest, had the low maximum with 73. ' The mercury fell no lower than the 60s throughout the state early this morning, headed for highs ranging from 70 to 75 today and was due to drop to lows of 55 to 64 tonight.
