(W — A Gary couple were killed today when their automobile swerved off U.S. 41 near Lyford and struck a tree stump. Mrs. Mary B. Williams, 56, was killed outright. Her husband, Major Williams, 58, driver of the car, died hours later in Vermillion County hospital. State police said Williams apparently dozed while driving fast.
