Distraught Mother I Slays Three, Self Children Slain By South Bend Woman SOUTH BEND. Ind. <UP>- A distraught mother hacked her three children to death in a homicidal frenzy and then plunged a butcher knife into her own heart, authorities said today. , The bodies were discovered by her husband, George W. Conley, when he hurried home from work Wednesday. . The attractive mother, Elizabeth, 33, had been under treatment for a nervous breakdown. Her body was found lying on the blood-soaked living room floor, a butcher knife through her chest*. Nearby were the slashed bodies of the Conleys’ daughter, Rebecca, 6, and a son, Matthew, 4. Two blood-smeared butcher knives lay next to them.

Conley found the body of his Youngest son, John, 2. in the bedroom with a knife plunged in his chest. Police Sgt. Alex Krupa said he received a call from Conley shortly after the father arrived home. “I walked in the house and the mother and two children are dead,” Conley blurted to Krupa in a high-pitched voice. » "I asked ‘Was it two children?’ and he said 'Qh, my God. To Distribute 2,400 'Pheasants In County ' Members of the Adams county 4-H clubs will receive 2,400 dayI old pheasants to raise as one of their summer projects, district conservation officer Jack Hurst said today. The birds will be brought in Jline' 4 at 9:30 a m. from Wells county state game preserve, and will be distributed at Coppess Corners. There are 51 boys and girls signed up for the pheasant-raising project this summer. The birds Will be raised in brooders in groups varying from 25 to 75 birds. They will be released in about eight weeks. Each youth may release the birds where he pleases.
