Many Os Live Shows Off TV In Summer TV Programming To Hit Skids In June NEW YORK (UP)—This looks like a dandy summer to pack your TV set in mothballs. TV programming hits the skids starting next month with many live shows dropping off and most filmed shows switching to re-runs. What the trade calls “summer replacements’* —a euphemism for programs too unsturdy for regular season showing—will fill in. There are a few items of hot weather interest. CBS-TV morning show and evangelist Billy Graham will step into a Sunday night hour on ABC-TV for at least four weeks. NBC is talking about a live variety show for Tennessee Ernie Ford this summer, but hasn't settled on an emcee yet. And NBCTV also is plotting three spectaculars in the Sid Caesar Saturday night spot for three successive weeks beginning June I—“ Four Stars for Spring,” a Jerry Lewis spec and “Galaxy of Stars.” You also can count on seeing Steve Allen and Ed Sullivan through the summer along with “The $64,000 Question,” “The $64,000 Challenge" and “Twenty One.” Such drama entries as “Kraft Theatre,” “U.S. Steel,” “Climax,” “Alcoa - Goodyear Playhouse,” Lux Video,” and a summer "version of “Studio One” will continue.
