LaGrange Duo Is " Festival Winner , District Contest Held At Monmouth A pantomime duo from LaGrange county won the district share the fun festival held at Monmouth high scholl Tuesday night, Leo Seltenright, hosty county agent, announced today. Duane Targgart and Jim Darrow were the pantomimiats in the winning curtain act. They will appear in the state share the fun contest June 8 at Purdue University. Other acts, so as to provide a variety, will also be chosen from the second and third place winners in the ten state districts. More than 100 persons attended the 18-act talent program. The purpose of the program is to encourage local people in producing more talent. Judges for the contest were Richard Zerby, an Angola accountant with Hartman-Cooper; Gene Gibson, Angola, field representatives of the Pet Milk company; and William Hernandez, Jefferson township music teacher and member of the Fort Wayne philharmonic orchestra. Second place was taken by Judy Emrick, of Allen county, who performed a ballet. Miss Emrick performed to music she had not practiced after the record of her special music was broken. Third place went to Linda Lou Shelby, of Elkhart county, with a dramatic reading. A tri-state area 4-H talent show was announced to be held at Buck Lake Ranch Memorial Day, May 30, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Jay Gould, of WOWO, will be master of ceremonies, and acts taking part in the share the fun program were invited to enter. More than 5,000 are expected to attend. Tickets to the program can be sold by 4-H clubs to raise money for the club. County agent Leo N. Seltenright has full details on the 4-H program. Fruit Growers Will Meet On Thursday Hie Northeastern Indiana fruit growers association will hold their first twilight summer meeting at the home of Russell Sink, LaGrange county, Thursday at 6:30 p.m., reports R. I. Case, Le Grange county agent. Sink lives 5*4 miles west of the junction 9 and 120 in Howe, then turn north at a T road by a’ cemetery and follow that road north and west one mile. Clarence Chapman, Rome City, president of the northeastern growers association, will preside. Henry Rehm, Shipshewana, is secretary. All growers of small fruit within driving distance of the Sink farm are invitea. Frank Emerson, extension horticulturist from Purdue University, will discuss varieties, cultural practices and methods of growing strawberries and raspberries. Sink is equipped to irrigate. Directors of the association are: Seymour Butler and Paul Jackson, Stuben county; Nobles; Dennis Smith and Clyde Clarence Chapman and C. D. Ross Northup, LaGrange; Clarence' Hosier, Allen; and Gerhard Bultemeier, Adams. Pleasant Mills Lions Meet Tuesday Night Pleasant Mills Lions discussed Tuesday night several entries in the Lions parade in Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon, to be held during the annual three-day state convention of the service club. Club president Albert Davison announced that there was a possibility of getting the Pleasant Mills high school band to march in the parade.
