PERSONAL SHOWER GIVEN FOR MISS MARLENE LAURENT Mrs. Leo Teeple, Mrs. Andrew Miller and Miss Gwen Hilyard were hostesses so a personal bridal shower, in honor of Miss Marlene Laurent, Thursdajß evening, at the Teeple home, 1028 Mercer avenue. Miss Laurent, who will marry Joseph Moria, May 18, was presented with a dainty blue apron, and a corsage, upon her arrival at the shower. Several bouquets a lilacs and tulips were used throughout the Teeple home, with a blue and white .color scheme predominant. A miniature bride doll, and two bridesmaids decorated the television set, and other femininely dressed cardboard dolls complemented the theme. Several games were played by the guests, with those winning prizes in turn presenting them to the bride-elect. DECATUR WOMAN’S CLUB TO HAVE FINAL MEETING Mrs. Harry Dailey is chairman of the spring musical variety program, which she and members of the Music department of the Decatur Woman’s club will present at the final meeting of that organization, to be held at the Youth and Community center, Monday evening at 8 o’clock. Comprising the program will be organ selections, vibraharp numbers, piano solos, a women’s trio, several solo selection, and numbers by the sections chorus. Mrs. Dailey is being assisted by Mrs. Stuart Brightwell, Mrs. Clyde Butler and Miss Helen Haubold. The Women’s club book erroneously state that the Junior Women’s department will also have its final meeting Monday evening. Instead the group will meet in the Methodist church recreation room at 6 p.m., the following Monday evening, May 13. This closing meting of the Junior Women's club will be a pot luck supper, and members are asked to bring a covered dish and their own table service. Mrs. Eugene Morrison will provide the soft drinks. Committee members include Mrs. James Webb, Mrs. Ferris Kohne ■ and Mrs. Robert Miller. LOCAL LADIES PLAN TO ATTEND CONVENTION The 67th annual convention of the Indiana Federation of Clubs will be held at Indianapolis, May 13, 14 and 15. “Making Energy Manifest’’ will be the theme of this year's convention, which will open the Monday morning of the 13th, with a welcome given by Mayor Phillip L. Bayt. of Indianapolis. Tuesday, May 14, will be known as “Junior Day" with members of the Junior Woman's club throughout the state being honored. Mrs. David Martin, of Fort Wayne, will preside over the Junior activities. Numerous other speakers have been secured for the three-day session, including Mrs. R. I. C. Prout, president of the General Federation of Woman’s clubs. Activities scheduled in addition to business sessions will include

Miss Bassett is a member of the 1957 graduating class of Decatur high school, and her fiance attended Monmouth high school. Several ladies of the local federation of Clubs are planning to attend the convention. PREBLE SUNNY CIRCLE CLUB MEETS TUESDAY The Peble Sunny Circle home demonstration club met Tuesday evening at the Preble recreation center. The president. Mrs. William Kruetzman, called the meeting to order. The song “The More We Get Together was sung and the club creed was recited. The lesson on “Freezing” was given by Mrs. Glen Girod and Mrs. Edwin Reif steck. The song of the month “Welcome, Sweet Springtime, ** was sung and led by Mrs. Robert Beery, accompained by Mrs. Milton Kruetzman. The health lesson on fever was presented Ry Mrs. Orley Barkley. Tillie Peters gave the evening devotions. An auction sale of flowers, bulbs and white elephants followed the meeting. Door prizes were won by Mrs. Gerhart Heckman and Mrs. Otto Fuhrman. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Glen Girod, Mrs. Otto Peck and Miss Tillie Peters. LARGE GROUP ATTENDS RECENT BETHANY BANQUET One hundred and twenty-five mothers and daughters attended the banquet in their honor, held Wednesday evening at the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church. A prelude of music was played by Eleanor Miller, followed by Mrs. Donald PejiiQß'*who sang '"That Wonder nu. Mother of Mine,” accompanied by Mrs. Vernon Custer. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Earl Fuhrman. ’ luquets of spring flowers graced the serving tables, and several other arrangements of cut flowers were used throughout the oom. After dinner, a reading, “The Mother I Adore,” was given by Joyce Smith, Julia Ellsworth sang ‘Songs My Mother Taught Me,” and Mrs. Clarence Brunnegraff ;ave the reading, “Years Just Roll Away.’’ Flowers were won by Mrs. As- - Pitser, Mrs. B. The Kirkland Ladies club met at the home of Ella Scherry recently, for its regular monthly meeting. Thirty-one members answered roll call by telling “what I would have liked to have had for Easter.” Mrs; Ralph Ross, Jr., led in devotions, after which Mrs. Schertry entertained the group with several vibraharp selections. Mrs. Harold Henschen and Mrs. John Leyse favored the group with the vocal duet, “In the Garden.” The lesson on freezing foods was presented by the leaders, Mrs. Harold Barger and Mrs. Henschen. The citizenship and safety lessons were also presented. It was then announced that the next meeting will be a mother and daughter party at the Youth and Community center. May 21. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Ross, Mrs. August Schlickman, Mrs. Dorphus Schlickman and Mrs. Scher--ry. _ The meeting of the Dutiful Daughters class of the Bethany E.U.B. church, originally scheduled to meet with Mrs. Ernest Foreman Tuesday evening, has been postponed one week. sociated choir of the Decatur churches will be held at the Methodist church tonight, at 7 o'clock, in preparation of the choral group’s first concert, to be presented at the Youth and Community center, at 3 p.m. Sunday. A meeting of the Wofnen’s Missionary Society of the Pleasant Mills Baptist church will be held at the home of Mrs. Harry Ray, Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock. The Mt. Pleasant Women’s Society of Christian Service will meet at 1:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon, at the chnurch. There will be installation of officers, and a silent auction will be conducted at the close of the meeting. Members of the Order of Eastern Star and their daughters, and members of the Rainbow Girls •and their mothers, are invited to attend the annual mother and daughter banquet of that group, which will be held at the Masonic hall, next Thursday evening at 6:30 o’clbck. Members are asked to bring a covered dish and their own tables service. A regular stated O.E.S. meeting will be held at 7:30 o’clock. At the Adams county memorial hospital: Wilmer and Jaunaga Jones Beer, of Bluffton, are parents of a six pound, one anti a half ounce daughter, born at 10:40 p.m. Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Workinger, of Decatur, and Mrs. Kate Workinger and Mrs. Nolan Friedley, of Pontiac, Mich., attended the funeral Thursday afternoon of Mrs. Anna Workinger, at Greenville, Mich. Bernard Schultz, retiring school teacher from the Bleeke settlement, is moving to Decatur Tuesday, and will live at 512 North Fifth street. Kirkland Kut-Ups The third meeting of the Kirkland Kut-Ups was held April 23 at the home of Bernice Yager. The meeting was called to order by group singing, the pledges were ted by Rose Lantz and Janella Dorothy Geyer. Following the Roth; A demonstration was given pledges led by Roger Conrad and 1 and Bernice Yager. Rose Lantz gave the special feature. 14 members were present. The next will be held May 6 at the home of Kathleen Adler. Jolly Juniors The third meeting of the Preble Jolly Juniors was held April 15 at the Preble recreation center. The meeting was opened by the pledges led by Roger Gonrad and Gary Meyers followed with the troll, call, members answering to “Your Favorite Poular Singer.” The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were accepted as read. The special feature was a piano solo by Shirley Bieberich. The meeting «was adjourned and the recreation followed. Refeshments were served by Ruth Ann Berry and Helen Reppert.

Before leaving she hinted she might be married in the United States. , Stolen Automobile t Recovered Thursday A car stolen from Mospr Implement company of Bluffton was recovered a mile east and a mile south of Monroe last night. The vehicle was reported stolen early Thursday. Later in the day, a resident? of the Monroe area informed local authorities that the car had been parked southeast of Monroe most of the day. The vehicle was towed into Decatur, where it will be claimed by its owner.
