classroom activities Intensify, looking to the final exam time. Combined with the spring weather, it all makes Central an exciting and wonderful place right now. Even a thumbnail view of this week’s activities will take up this week’s column. . . . —A.C.H.S.— Hello there! Come in Friday night and see Central’s achievements of this year: the welcome mat is out for everyone. From the new wing to the east, or junior high, building, A. C. will be decked out in her spring garb. Rooms in the primary wings will be decorated with colorful murals, pictures and projects, while in the east wing, there'll probably be a more “grownup” theme of maps and posters, as in years before. Among the advanced high school displays will be the industrial arts exhibit of furniture, mechanical drawings, metals and electrical projects, etc.. Highlighting the program to follow “room inspection” time, along with several special Jbcw features, will be the home ec department's dress revue, “As Other’s See You.” The open house begins at 7 p.m., with die revue slated for 8. , - -A.C.H.S.— Melody — soft and dreamy or snappy with rousing rhythm — was the third annual spring concert’s musical menu the four Central music organizations presented formally last Friday night, under the direction of Don Gerig. Beau- , tiful formats and sport suits made the affair even more attractive. In the senior band's routine, the pop tune “Poor People Os Paris, “gave variety to the program of familiar — and fine — marches. From the senior chorus the spiritual “Rock-A-Ma Soul” was added to the four songs presented earlier this year at the music festival, sacred concerts, and the NISBOVA contests. Six numbers by the beginners’ and junior bands again showed Central the talent coming up for future, AC units, while the 23 Central beginner, junior, and senior twirlers presented a revue of up-and-coming twirlers to head the marches. Well done, music department! —A.C.H.S.— Special place in the music department's program went to the presentation of the senior, music award. Betty Steury became the second recipient of the trophy given to the senior who, during four., years, in band and chorus, has’ done the most for the music de-' partanent. Betty’s soprano solos' have deserved the limelight atconcerts, chapel programs, con-' tests ,and wherever the Central' girls’ trio traveled for appearances. in the senior band, she has had post at the snare drum. Central's sincere congratulations to: jou, Betty! » —A.C.H.S.— Ensemble music also added an
