MISS KIftCHENBAUER IS WED RECENTLY AT DENVER Dr. and Mrs. Harold V. DeVor, 521 South Thirteenth street, have announced the recent marriage of their youngest daughter, Marilyn Rose, to Brian Russell Duling, a member of the U.S, Air Force, stationed at Denver,. Colo. * The couple exchanged Vows Friday, April 5, in the Salem Evangelical and Reformed church at Denver. Miss Kirchenbauer was graduated in 1954 from the Decatur high school. She later graduated from the Indiana University Medical center at Indianapolis, and has since been employed at the Denver dental clinic, as a dental technician. Her husband will continue his studies to be doctor, following his enlistment with the Air Force, wjhich will be culminated at the end of this year. Mr. and Mrs. Duling are residing at 3645 Krameria street, in Denver. HARMAN-BRODBECK WEDDING IS SOLEMNIZED RECENTLY Miss Gloria Mae Harman recent ly became the bride of Darrel Jimmy Brodbeck, in a single ring ceremony performed in the Church of God. The Rev. W H. Kirkpatrick officiated for the marriage, which took place at 6 o’clock the evening of April 20. The bride is the daughter of Francis Harman, of Marine City, Mich., and the bridegroom is the youngest son of Chester Brodbeck, of Monroe. j A street length dress of lemon yellow silk shantung was wore by the bride. Her dress was accented with white, and she wore white accessories. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Roop. Mrs. Roop was attired in a navy blue dress, with which she wore white accessories. The new Mrs. Brodbeck attended Algonac high school at Algonac, Mich., and her husband was graduated from Adams Central high school. MAY 18 BRIDE-ELECT IS HONORED AT SHOWER Miss Carolyn Terveer. May 18 bride-elect of Ivan Hakes, was the guest of honor at a miscellaneous bridal shower, given Monday evening at the home of Mrs. David Terveer. Mrs. John Terveer was the assisting hostess. Bingo was played, and prizes were won by the various guests; who in turn presented them to the bride-elect. MISS CAROLINE KOHNE RECIPIENT OF AWARD Margaret Eiting, unit Americanism chairman for the American Legion auxiliary, introduced Mrs. Helen McKinley, fourth district Americanism chairman, at the recent meeting of that organization, held at the Legion home. Mrs. McKinley, who is from Churubusco, in turn awarded the prize for the best Americanism essay to Miss Caroline Kohne. Miss Kohne was the winner of the recent contest, and now her essay will be sent to the state department for further judging. Mrs. Fermen Bloom was also a guest from Churubusco. A thorough report on Honduras was presented by M fs Joseph McConnell. unit Pan-American chairman. During her report of this country, Mrs. McConnell showed a Pan-American doll, which had been made by the junior girls of the unit. This will be sent to the district to be judged. Miss Eiting displayed some articles which she purchased while on a two weeks tour of duty as a. reserve navy nurse, in the Carribean and Panama. She showed slides of her trip and gave a detailed explanation of her tour. The remainder of the evening was spent in playing games, with prizes being awarded to Mrs. Dee Fryback, Mrs. Vincent Borman, Mrs. Ray Venis, Mrs. Fermen Bloom, Mrs. Elmer Shrader, and Mrs. Adolph Bauermeister. Mrs. Bloom was awarded the door prize. Refreshments were served by the committee, which consisted of Mrs. Frank Liniger, Mrs. Max Elieea Wagner, and Mrs. McConnell. ’ "A The next meeting will be*-a business meeting, to be held at the Legion home, May 10. DELTS CONDUCT INITIATION RITES FOR NEW CHAPTER The initiation and installation of the Kappa Ro chapter of the Delta Theta Tau sorority from New Carlise took place Sunday, at the Youth and Community Center. Eleven charter members were initiated by the local Omicron chapter. Mrs. Fred Couglin, of Portland, national treasurer, and Mrs. Charles Icerman, of Muncie, national eastern counselor, installed the new chapter and its officers. Following the ceremonies, Mrs. H. R. Frey, president of the local chapter, presented Kappa Ro with a white Bible, with the Delt

crest on the cover. This gift was given by the members of the Omicron chapter, who expressed their best wishes for many years of continued success to the new organization. Mrs. Icerman was also presented with a gift. Dinner was served at 4:30 oclock, following the initiation ceremonies. The tables were decorated with arrangements of spring flowers, and candles, with small of flowers and vines at their base. Favors were miniature apothecary jars, filled with gum drops. Place cards were attached to the ribbons, tied about the neck of the jars, with the DeR crest painted on each, in gold. White carnation corsages were presented to each of the installing officers. Following the dinner, the local chapter conducted a model business meeting for Kappa Ro. Members at large who attended the event were Mrs. Medford Smith,- Mrs. Al Schneider and Mrs. E. F. Gass. Miss Rosemary Spangler was an active-associate member in attendance, and members of the Bluffton chapter attending were Ada Miller, Martha Ulmer, Viola Hixon, and Eileen Brower. Chapter members of the new Kappa Ro chapters who were installed were Patricia Lynch, Audrey Seyfried, Denise Coopfer, Ann Adele Eberhart, Gloria Hawcock, Garnet Shaw, Doris Stotts, Lorene Stoneburner, Martha Holiday, Helen Houser, and Ruth Crouch. f OFFICERS ARE ELECTED AT ; EMBLEM CLUB MEETING New officers were elected at the recent meeting of the Emblem club, which was held at the Elks home. 4s) ■ Thelma Jones was elected president, and Hazel Schultz will serve as the junior past president. Other officers include vice president, LaVelle Death; treasurer, Faye Mutschler; recording secretary, Helen Bair; corresponding secretary, Alice Brewer; press correspondent, Joan Schannon; financial- secretary, Grace King. Also, trustee, Adine Kessler: first guard, Pat Mansfield; second guard. Ruby Beard; first assistant marshal Ruth Baxter; second ’ assistant marshal, Jollie Kelly, and organist, Mae Holthouse. The new president appointed Abbie Meyer as cnaplain, and Virginia Frey as marshal. It was announced that lormal installation of officers will be June 11, and will be held jointly wth the Emblem club at the Bluffton Elks home. Futher plans were made for the annual Mother’s day party, to be held Thursday, May 9. All members planning to attend are asked to call Mrs. James Newtop, Mrs. Cart Baxter or Mrs. James Cowens. A social hour followed the business meeting, with the attendance prize goinng to Virginia Frey. Door prizes were awarded to Hazel Schultz and Faye Mutschler. Hostesses included Alice Brewer, Pat Mansfield, and Abbie Meyer. A pot luck mother and daughter banquet of the Bobo Willing Workers class of the United Brethren church, will be held at the Bobo school, Friday evening at 6 o’clock. The Decatur Camera club will meet at Edward’s Studio, next Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock Members of the Everready Sunday school class of the Methodist church will attend a meeting of that group, Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock, in the church lounge.
