Thornburg, an Indiana University law school graduate, was named to the $6,300 a year post by Secretary of State Frank Lenning to succeed Franklin H. Three Directors Are Reelected Wednesday Walter A. McDonough and James S. DeLaurier of Hammond, and Walter W. Walb of Fort Wayne, were re-elected to a threeyear term as directors of Northern Indiana Public Service company at the company's annual meeting of stockholders yesterday, Dean H. Mitchell, NIPSCO president, announced today. McDonough, vice president and controller of the company, has been a director of the utility since 1949. Walb, vice president of the American Hoist & Derrick Company of Fort Wayne, was first elected a director in 1946, while DeLaurier, publisher of the Hammond Times, was elected a director by the board last November to fill the unexpired term of Philip T. Sprague of Michigan City, who resigned because of ill health. $57,000 Damage Suit Will Open Monday Clarence Getting, 30, of Decatur, is being sued by a state employe for $57,000 personal injury received by the worker on U. S. highway 27 .north of Decatur December 7, 1955. The suit is being tried by jury in the Jay circuit court, and will start Monday. Getting was driving north on U. S. highway 27, four miles north of Decatur when cement was splattered on his windshield by a passing truck. He pulled over to the side of the road to clean off the windshield, and in so doing Jesse Springer, 71, of Gwynneville, was struck by the car. Springer suffered two broken legs, and back injuries. Die road had been publicly announced as open to the public on November 17. Parked Automobile Sidewiped Wednesday A car owned by Wiliam Stiverson, of 322 South Fifth* street, suffered S2OO damage when it was sideswiped Wednesday by a car driven by Elmer Wendell, 925 Russel Street, at Oak and Winchester streets. The accident occurred at 9:40 a.m. Wendell reported that he was driving north on Winchester when he passed a car driving south. He inadvertently sideswiped the parked Stiverson car. Damage to the Wendell auto was estimated at $75 by city police. Television Quarrel Blamed For Suicide DELPHI (IP) — Ivan D. Grissom, 45, a Carroll County highway department employe, ghat himseit to death with a traget pistol Wednesday after what authorities said was a family quarrel over whether a television set should be on during supper. Grissom, his wife and their five children were eating the evening meal when Grissom went to his automobile and killed himself, authorities said.
