PARRISH Members of the Happy Homemakers home demonstration club met recently at the home of Mrs. Kermeth Parrish. Mrs. Clarence Mitchel opened the meeting by having the members repeat the club creed. Mrs. Parrish led in devotions and Mrs. Dwight Schnepp read a poem entitled, “Mret God in the Morning.” Miss Arlene Parrish played a piano selection, ”The Old Rugged Cross.” The lesson on wardrobe planning was given by Mrs. Gerald Cook, followed by the health and safety lesson, “How to be a careful driver," which was presented by Mrs. Sheldon Wagley. Mrs. Schnepp presented the secretary’s report, followed by roll call. The song of the month was read by Mrs. Earl Harmon. Program planning for 1958 was discussed, with Mrs. Paul Erp, vice-president, in charge. Afterwards, the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Schnepp, served refreshment to the 13 members present. WESLEY SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS HAS MEETING Twenty-one members of the Wesley Sunday school class of the Methodist church attended a meeting of that group, Thursday evening. Mrs. Raymond Walters led in devotions, and presented readings, including “Calvary at Easter,” “Legend of the Dogwood Tree,” “Christ in the Trees," and "Faith.” Several appropriate poems were repeated by Weldon Bumgerdner, after which the president, Mrs. Clarence Smitley, conducted the business session. After the meeting was adjournred, the committee chairmen took over the social hour. Games and contests were enjoyed, and re-

The Monroe Better Homes Demonstration club will meet Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Clifford Essex. The lesson topic will be on "Freezing.” Members are asked to note change in date. The fourth district Past Presidents Parley pf the American Legion auxiliary will meet at New Haven post 330. next Wednesday. A pot luck dinner will be served at the noon hour, followed by a short business session. The past presidents of Decatur who wish to attend are asked to contact Mrs. Frances Monahan, at 3-3849. A “ham party” of the V. F. W. Fathers auxiliary is slated for Tuesday evening at the V. F. W. home. Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock, the Pythian Sisters will meet at the K. of P. home. Needle club will follow. Officers of the Women of the Moose are asked to meet at the Moose home, Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock, apd members of the lodge will meet at 8. Mrs. Thomas Buuek will be hostess to the members of the Junior Women’s department of the Decatur Woman’s club, Monday evening at 8 o’clock. The committee includes Mrs. Dean Klossner, Mrs. James Allen, Miss Louanne Lehman, and Miss Kay Ann Witte. Mrs. Fred Hancher will entertain the members of the Historical club, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. t__
Up and At It The Blue Creek Up and At It 4-H club held their second meeting April 2 at the Kimsey School. The meeting was called to order by the president, Ruth Sipe. Marie Riley then led in group singing. The 28th chapter of St. Matthew was read by Barbara Carver for devotions. Pledges to the flags were led by Bonnie Wheeler and Linda Rayl. “Good Grooming and Appearance” was the lesson presented by the health and safety leader, A demonstration, “The proper way to pack a school lunch," was given by Nancy Raudenbush and Karen Foor. Old and new business were discussed. Barbara Tinkham favored with a piano solo. Bonnie Wheeler and Karen Foor and Nancy Raudenbush. The next meeting will be April 9.

Sunday School Rally Continues At Church Tomorrow marks the fourth Sunday of the special pre-Easter Sunday school Rally being held at the Decatur Missionary church. "Buggy Sunday” will be observed in the Sunday school when a prize will be given to the person who is able to get the greatest number of people in his car outside of his immediate family. The idea of the day is to have everyone bring someone with them and fill die empty places in the cars. Last Sunday the < attendance Stood at 230. This came within five of breaking the highest attendance ever recorded at the church. The people of the church invite the friends of this area to Sunday school Sunday at 9 a.m. Fort Wayne Man Is Treated For Injury Edward Kaehr, 52, of Fort Wayne, was taken to the Adams county boapital Friday pt 12:55 p.m. suffering a severe cut over his left eye. City police received a report that a naan was lying on the street on Second street. He was taken to the hospital and released after treatment.
Defend Couple In Battle For Child Letters And Wires Sent To Florida INDIANAPOLIS (UP) -A television - radio news commentator said Friday he is forwarding to the governor of Florida a batch of letters and telegrams supporting a Jewish couple in their legal fight to keep a child they adopted from a Catholic mother. Frank Edwards of WTTV Bloomington and WLS Chicago said he received 1,681 messages after he asked listeners what they would do about extradition of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Ellis to Massachusetts if they were Gov. Leroy Collins of Florida. Edwards said only two of the messages favored returning the child, Hildy McCoy, to her mother. One of the dissenting writers, Edwards said, described himself as an atheist and the other as anti-Semetic. Edawrds said he talked with Collins* office and was asked by aids to send the letters and telegrams, presumably to help Collins' decide whether to grant extradition to Massachusetts when a legal request for extradition arrives.
Ist LL Luth D. Baldwin, of Randolph county was among those presumed dead in an aircraft accident over the Pacific ocean March 22. A $15,000 damage suit by Hazel M. Walter against Joseph L. McConnell, venued to the Wells county circuit court from the Adams county circuit court, was dismissed on motion of plaintiff. The case of three 15-year-old Wells county boys, charged with a series of thefts in Wells and Huntington counties earlier this year, has been taken under advisement until April 20 by the Wells circuit court, following hearing of evidence Thursday in juvenile court.

Indianapolis Woman Is Fatally Wounded Report Daughter In Serious Condition INDIANAPOLIS (W — Mrs. Dorothy Henthorn, 64, died today of gun wounds while police searched for her son-in-law as a suspect in a double shooting. Mrs. Henthorn and her daughtter, Mrs. Eva L. Brown, 30, were shot Friday night. Mrs. Brown said she believed their assailant was her estranged husband, Nathan W. Brown, 57, Terre Haute. Mrs. Brown was listed in serious condition in the hospital where her mother died of a wound in her right side. Sheriff’s deputies said Mrs. Brown, staying with her mother, called to plead for protection after receiving a threat from her husband. Later she reported the shooting, and officers found both women lying wounded in the living room. Brown was described as •‘armed and believed dangerous.” Mrs. Brown and her mother drove Friday to Terre Tlaute, where Mrs. Brown filed suit for divorce. Brown followed her back to Indianapolis, she said. At night, a man whose voice sKe recognized as her husband's stuck his head through the door of her mother’s home, cursed them and fired twice, Mrs. Brown said.

The annual event is sponsored by the Geneva Lions club, which will award a prize to the Lions club (excluding Geneva), from Adams, Jay or Wells counties, which has the largest group of Lions and their wives in attendance.
