TIPPED BY A “woman’s voice” on the telephone, San Francisco and San Mateo County deputy sheriffs and airline passengers search through luggage for a bomb the informant said was placed aboard. The flight, delayed 25 minutes by the search, had as a passenger Dublin’s Lord Mavor Robert Briscoe who was enroute to Omaha.
uuuiin s ijoru mavui iwuen dii»i CITY (O—tiaaea »»om rage O—> during part of the night, but radio contact was maintained with the city police, and with other members of the sheriff’s department. A hot wire across the Monmouth road kept Sheriff Affolder on guard from 8:30 p.m. until midnight, to keep unwary travellers from electrocution. The sheriff finally devised away of cutting the wire without approaching the area, and moved the wire from the road. The Indiana-Michigan lines, furnishing electricity to the Preble area, and to the Geneva area, were down, and no service crew was available to fix it , The Adams county civil defense ham radio group stood by, and helped on highway problems. A power line south of Pleasant Mills fell across highway 101, blocking it. Highway 116 was also reported blocked in the South part of the county. Hie fire department was called last night to take care of a hot wire down on Jefferson street between Sixth and Seventh streets. The line burned for approximately 1% hours before it could be approached and extinguished. First report of a power failure occurred at 6:27 p.m. when a tree fell over a line. From that time on, it was a steady marathon of calls, with all departments so swamped that no accurate records were available this morning. Rural lights are still out in many parts
