ROBERT SHAW, the former Miss Phyllis Joan Kohli, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kohli, of Monroe, is pictured above, following her recent marriage. Her husband is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Garl Shaw, of route 6. The couple is now residing at 3005 North Palo Verde, at Tucson, Ariz., where the bridegroom is stationed with the U. S. Air Force.
Cub Scout Den On Visit To Democrat Eight “Bobcats" of Den 1, pack 3063 of the Decatur Cub Scouts, were conducted on their first official tour Tuesday afternoon, as they, along with four of their coleaders, visited the office of the Decatur Daily Democrat to see “just how a paper is printed." Leaders of the pack, Mrs. William Lose, Jr., Mrs. Bernard Hain, Mrs. Joe Murphy and Mrs. John Hefner, stated that this was the first such project for the young scouts, but that similar tours are to be arranged throughout the spring months.

The tour was conducted by Miss Gwen Hilyarcf of the Daily Democrat staff, who explained to the first year Scouts what happens to a news article, from the time it reaches the office, to the time when it appears in the paper. Os special interest to the boys and their leaders was the automatic teletype setter, the linotype machines, and the newspaper press in action. Members of the pack making the tour were John Hefner, Steven Schultz, John Lose, Tom Lose. Bill Hain, Jerry Murphy, Larry Heiman, and Dannie Rickord.

New City Police Car In Limited Service The new city police ear, purchased from Saylor’s Chevrolet recently, is now in limited service. Use of the car will be limited temporarily while the police radio is being installed and the car is being adjusted to heavy driving.

Miss Charlotte Vera is chairman of the program to be presented to members of the Art department, Miss Eleanor Pumphrey will be hostess for the evening, and the committee includes Miss Catherine Weidler and Mrs. Franklin Franz. Members of the Junior Women’s department will not meet Monday evening, as they will be attending the “Birdland Stars of ’56” show, to be presented Tuesday evening at the Fort Wayne coliseum. Twen-ty-one members of the organization have reservations at the Hobby Ranch House in Fort Wayne, where they will eat before attending the show. Arrangements for the event have been made by Mrs. Thomas Buuck, Miss Gwen Hilyard and Miss Sharon Kriescher. VFW LADIES AUXILIARY CELEBRATES MEMBERSHIP Members of the losers team entertained the members of the winning team of the recent V.F.W. Ladies auxiliary membership drive. The goal of 100% membership wag achieved by the teams. Following the active drive for members, games were played at the V.F.W. home, with prizes being awarded to Fern Augsburger, Alma Hunter, Sharon Stetler, Betty Feasel. and Ada Weitz. The door prize was won by Verona Venis. During the course of the evening, Audrey Ballard, membership chairman, presented her cochairman, Glennys Martz, with a gift for her help during the drive. Refreshments were later served by the members of the losing team. SQUARE DANCE IS HELD BY PSI IOTA XI SORORITY Approximately 60 Psi lota Xi members, husbands and guests attended the annual Valentine party of that sorority, which was held at the Youth and Community center Tuesday evening. Carl Geels, well know square dance caller, was on hand the entire evening, and called for an “old fashioned square dance.” The door prize was won by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gehrig. Long tables, decorated in keeping with Valentine theme, were placed around the room, and a refreshment table was operated by members of the committee, which included the Mesdames Ted Hill. Tom Lutes, Raymond Beer, Floyd Reed, Paul Hancher, Ray Lehman, ahd Ferd Klenk, and Miss Kay Alberson. SURPRISE BABY SHOWER IS GIVEN FOR MRS. TIEMAN A surprise baby shower was held Sunday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Ralph Tieman, by Mrs. Ed McCullough and Mrs. Ortell McClain, at the former’s home. Above the gift table was a large sprinkling can, covered with pink crepe paper, from which pdured forth pink and yellow flowers. Co-hostesses were Mrs. George Millington and Mrs. Brice Hower. Upon her arrival, the bride-elect was presented with a corsage of daffodils, after which she was seated by a large umbrella, decorated with pink and white crepe paper. Other pink and white appointments were used throughout the entertaining rooms. Contest prizes were won by Mrs. Joe LaTurner, Mrs. Joe Hunter and Mrs. Bertha Jones, who in turn presented them to Miss Shaw. After the guest-of-honor had opened her many attractive and useful gifts, refreshments were served to Mrs. Joe LaTurner, Mrs. Joe Hower, Mrs. George Millington, Mrs. George Klinetob, Mrs. Robert Johnson, Mrs. Ben Hower, and Mrs. Briee Hower, all of Decatur, and Mrs. Bertha Jones, Mrs. Donna Lewis, and Mrs. Rosetta Betz, of Bluffton. Sending gifts but unable to attend the shower were Mrs., Issac Mendez and Mrs. Blas Mendez. MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER IS GIVEN FOR MISS SIMONS A miscellaneous bridal shower was given Tuesday evening in honor of Miss Bonnie Simons, who will exchange vows with Donald Walters, March 10. Hostesses for the event were Mrs. Walter Butcher, Miss Rheta Butcher, and Mrs. Kenneth Singleton, at the former's home. Miss Simons was presented with an apron, which had previously been autographed by setob of the guests attending.* Later, she was also presented the center piece used on the serving table. During the evening, various games and contests were enjoy-, ed, with appropriate prizes awarded to the winners, who each presented them to the bride-elect. The honored guest received many nice gifts, after which refreshments were served by the hostesses. JOLLY HOUSEWIVES CLUB HAS MEETING AT 8080 The Jolly Housewives home demonstration club of St. Mary's township met Tuesday evening at the Bobo school. The meeting was opened by repeating the club creed and singing the song of the month, "Old Folks at Home.” Mrs. Leland Ray th’en presented the history of the writing of the song. “Wardrobe Planning,” was the title of the lesson, presented by Mrs. Austin McMichael, after which the health and safety lesson was presented by Mrs. Clarence Black. Mrs. Marshall Hilbert then led in a discussion of citizenship., Thirty-two members answered toll call by naming a famous Artterican, and then telling why he or she is famous. ,JJ The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Mrs. Harry McDermott, followed by the business meeting, which was conducted by the vice-president, Mrs. John Davidson. Mrs. Milton Chronister was awarded the door prize. At the close of the meeting, refreshments were served by Mrs.

Girl Scout News Brownie troop 26 met at the Lincoln school Monday after school. We opened with the Brownie promise, collection of dues, and roll call, and then we had a treat. Miss Kathleen Michaels, 10-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Michaels, of route 1, Monroe, was admitted Monday to the Clinic hospital in Bluffton. V. Ted Biberstine, former state trooper for two years in Adams county, will resign Thursday as a member of the state police force to accept a position as adjuster for an insurance company. Biberstine has been with the state police since 1951. , The eighth grade at Willshire, * 0., has recently constructed a ' museum of Ohio history, with reproductions and pictures of historic spots in the Buckeye state.
