MISS MELISSA KIPFER •OBSERVES STH BIRTHDAY Miss Melissa Kipfer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Obed Kipfer of Salem, celebrated her eighth birthday anniversary, Sunday. She was guest of honor at a party given that a/ternoon by her parents.Various game were played, and prizes were won by Carolyn Carver. Sheila Kirchner, John Krugh. Cheryl Cook, David Carver and Allen Hess. Melissa then opened her many nice gifts. 5 Refreshments were served by Mrs. Kipfer, who was assisted by Mrs. Vernon Krugh. HAMMOND The Decatur home demonstration club met recently at the home of Mrs. Edna Hammond. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Walter Lister, by having the members repeat the club creed and singing the club song. An interesting lesson on “wardrobe planning,” was given by Mrs. O. K. Baker., The history of the song of the month was given bv Mrs. Robert Garard, who then led in the singing of “Swanee River.” Roll call Was answered by naming a famous American, and telling why he or she is famous. Mrs. Bert Halsey presented a quiz on citizenship, after which the health and safety lesson was given bv Mrs. Henry Adler. Miss Ivy Gilpen then conducted a quiz, with the prize going to Mrs. Howard Eley. Refreshments were served to 30 members, by the hostesses, Mrs. Frank Crist, Mrs. Jerome Coffee. Mrs. Frank Clingenpeel, and Miss Ivy Gilpen. > The Decatur Camera club will meet at the Youth and Community center Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock. A contest of children's photos, taken by club members, will be conducted at this meeting. Xi Alpha lota and Epsilon Sigma chapters of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at the Elks home, Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock. Mrs. Gale Cook will be hostess to the Happy iSmemakers home demonstration chib, next Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock. This meeting was originally scheduled for next Tuesday, so members are asked to note change in date. The Monroe W.C.T.U. will meet Thursday evening at 7 o’clock, at the home of Mrs. Clifford Essex. A stated meeting and initiation rites of the Order of Eastern Star are slated for Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock, at the Masonic hall. The Decatur Emblem club will meet at the Elks home Thursday evening at 8 o'clock, for a regular meeting. A six pound, two ounce son was born Monday at 3:07., p.m., to William and Mary Sheets McCardy, Os route 6. Max and Mary Lou Wendel Rauch, of route 2, Berne, became parents of a nine pound, seven ounce son, Monday evening at 11:35 o’clock. At 12:10 p.m. today, an eight pound, 10 ounce daughter was born to James and Marjorie Mentor Merriman, of Preble. Annual Antique Show Is Planned At Lima Many Decatur residents will be among the hundreds of antique lovers who will attend the annual antique show in Lima, 0., March 8 to 10 from noon to 10 p.m. e&ch day at the Lima Memorial Hall. S. E. Leonardson of Decatur, well-known antique dealer, is general manager of the show, which is the first of the season in Ohio. Twenty-six dealers from the midwest will join dealers in a display of antiques valued at $250,000.

Bishop Leo Pursley Is Installed Today Installed As Sixth Fort Wayne Bishop FORT WAYNE <W — Bishop Leo A. Pursley was installed today as sixth bishop of the Fort Wayne dioceto of the Roman Catholic Church. He succeeds the late Archbishop John F. Noll, who died last year. The diocese includes 14 ctAiniies, among them the cities of Fort Wayne and South Bend, and 124,409 Catholics in 78 parishes. Archbishop Paul C. Schulte of Indianapolis was the installing prelate. The sermon was delivered by Bishop Henry J. Grimmelsman of Evansville, who once taught Bishop Pursley at a Cincinnati seminary. y Among 36 members of the church hierarchy who attended , the installation ceremonies in the sanctuary of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception was Thomas Cardinal Tien, expiled archbishop of Peking, China. With the ceremony. Bishop Pursley formally assumed charge of a diocese he has governed as apostolic administrator the last two years. A native of Hartford City, Bishop Pursley was ordained ih Fort Wayne in 1927 and served pastorates or assistant pastortes at Lafayette, Muncie, Fort Wayne and Warsaw before he was named auxiliary bishop of Fort Wayne in 1950. —————————— — — ' —-

The traveling personnel manager of the G. C. Murphy company had a surprise yesterday when he couldn’t find the local manager, Cliff Brewer. Later he discovered that he was in J. J.
