Mildred Horman Is Married Recently To Ned S. Byer Wedding vows were exchanged by Miss Mildred Horman and Ned S. Byer is a recent ceremony in the Concordia Lutheran church, Fort Wayne. The Rev. Erwin Schnedler performed the doublering ceremony before h. backround Os pink and white floral arrangements. Bridal airs by Werner Dierks, of Fort Wayne, preceded the ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Fred F. Horman, of route 10, Fort Wayne, and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Byer, of Willshire, O. — The bride appeared in a gown of Venice lace and nylon tulle over satin. The molded bodice featured long sleeves and a V neckline, collored with a scalloped bertha. Tiers of lace and tulle cascalded down the back of the skirt, which ended in a chapel length train. Her fingertip veil was caught to a jeweled cap. and she carried a purple orchid with white carnations, atop a white prayer book. Serving as matron-of-honor was Mrs. Robert Bowen, of Decatur, and bridesmaid was Mrs. Robert Greener, of Fort Wayne. Their blue net and lace gowns were styled with sweetheart necklines and tiered skirts. Matching aqua hats and cascades of pink roses completed their ensembles. Keith Byer, of Fort Wayne, was best man, and Robert Bowen was groomsman. Mrs. Horman attended her daughter's wedding in a grey dress of crepe and lace, with which -she wore navy accessories. A brocaded taffeta dress in beige was selected by the bridegroom’s mother, and she completed her attire with black accessories. Both wore corsages of pink roses. - The couple greeted guests at Hessen Cassel Hall, immediately following the ceremony. Hostesses were Mrs. Robert Fuelling, Mrs. Kermit Bowen, Mrs. Harlo Miller, and Miss Sharon Beßout, all of Decatur: Mrs. Martha Griebel, Mrs. Christ Kaiser, and Miss Alma Doctor, all of Fort Wayne; Miss Ann Bver, of Willshire. 0., and Miss Kay Gullieume, of New Haven. Following an extended wedding trip to California, the couple will reside near Willshire, O. MR. AND MRS. W. F. HILTON TO OBSERVE ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. W. F. (Fred) Hilton, of route 3, will celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary Friday The couple was married February 22, 1899. AUXILIARY A recent business meeting of the V.FkW. Ladies auxiliary was attended by 16 members. President Catherine Birch presided over the business session, during which time' Lucille Clem was welcomed as a hew member of the auxiliary. The winners of the membership drive, to be conducted next day, will be feted with a party that evening at 7:30 o’clock, at the V.F.W. home. The group was reminded of the coming fourth district meeting, to be held in Kendallville, March 2. After the meeting, refreshments were served and games were played. The door prize was won by Bertha Kramer. WELCOME WAGON CLUB MEETS WITH MRS. HEFNER Sixteen members of the local Welcome Wagon club met recently at the home of Mrs. John He’fner, for a potluck suoper, Co-hostess was Mrs. James Bleke. Following the business session, games were played and a prize was awarded to Mrs. Edward Pageler. The door prize was won by Mrs. Dan Tyndall. Mrs. Dean Klossner will be hostess for the next meeting, which will be held at her home March 18. PLEASANT MILLS SOCIETY HAS RECENT MEETING The Pleasant Mills Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Charles Morrison. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Clyde Jones, after which Mrs. Murray Holloway gave the devotions and lesson, “Whom Shall I Send?” She was assisted by Mrs. Wayne Clouse, Mrs. Darrel Clouse and Mrs. Morrison. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Harlan Jones, and Mrs. John Bailey gave a special reading. Miss Wanda Mann was a guest of the society. After the business session, plans were made for the world day o r prayer, to be held at the church March 8. from 10 to 11 a.m. The Rev. BiUy Springfield will be the speaker. ; * The hostess, assisted bv Mrs Darrel Clouse and Mrs. Holloway, served refreshments to 14 members and the one guest. - POTLUCK SUPPER SERVED AT POCOHANTAS LODGE MEETING A potluck supper was served to the members of the Pocohantas lodge, which met Tuesday evening in the Red Men’s hall on North First street. The decorating committee consisted of Hattie Worthman and Vangie Witham. During the business meeting which followed, plans were made for a rummage sale, to be held in the near future. Vera Gause, Hattie Worthman, Annie Drake, Maxine Dull, Ireta Judt, and Kay Morgan. The next meeting will be held March 5. GIRL’S GUILD OF BAPTIST CHURCH MEETS RECENTLY The Jesse Bell chapter of the Girl’s Guild of the First Baptist church met recently at the church. Miss Cynthia Lehman led in group singing, after which her sister, Miss Cecilia Lehman, gave the opening prayer, and led in devotions. Miss Barbara Johnson was elected historian of the guild, during the business session which followed. • The meeting was then turned over to William Eichhorn, who gave the girls numerous beauty tips, and led in a lengthy discussion concerning hair styles, and beauty aids. Miss Jane Grimm led in the closing prayer, after which the group retired to the lower auditorium. where refreshments were served by the Missionary society. MRS. JAMES KITCHEN, SR. IS HOSTESS FOR MEETING Mrs. James Kitchen, Sr., of 225 North Ninth street, was recently hostess to a meeting of the Corinthian class of the First Christian church. Mr*. Clara Drum, president, presided over the meeting. Mrs. Kitchen led in devotions, taken from the 17th chapter of John, followed by prayer, led by Mrs. James Anderson. Roll call response was given with a patriotic saying. Mrs. Anderson gave the secretary * treasurer’s report, and prayer, Offered by Mrs. Traverse Chandler, closed the meeting. A social hour followed, ,with Mrj. Mildred Keller in charge of games and contests. Prizes were won bv Mrs. Adam Kunowich. Mrs. William Teeple, Mrs. Elmer Darwachter, Mrs. Anderson ahd Mrs. Paul Daniels. The hostess then served refreshments in keeping with the George Washington theme. EAGLES AUXILIARY HOSTS DISTRICT FIVE MEETING The Eagles auxiliary was recently hostess to the district five'meeting, held at the local Eagles hall. Among the 99 ladies attending were four state officers, including state madam president, Dorothy Miller of Indianapolis: conductor. Mildred McCune of Wabash; state trustee, Harriet Hissong, of Fort Wavne, and the state secretary. The four state officers, along with the local madam president. Anna Myers, were presented with corsages of red and white carnations, and a corsage was also sent to state officer Clara Hoch, of Fort Wayne, who was tenable to attend because of illness. Five new candidates were initiated at this meeting, and an announcement was made that next •month’s meeting will be held at Bluffton, March 23 c During the business session, a generous donation to the muscular dystrophy fund was collected. At the Adams county memorial hospital: Paul and Dora Hart Burgess, of Fort Wayne, are parents of a seven pound, four ounce daughter, born Wednesday at 9:27 p.m. At 12:10 a.m. today, a daughter was born to Lloyd and Martha Sheets Reef, of 810 Monroe street. She weighed eight pounds, six and a half ounces. LOCALS Mrs. Lester Painter has been admitted to the Parkview memorial hospital in Fort Wayne, where she will undergo surgery Friday. Miss Bobbylou Butler and a group of friends were entertained at a dinner in honor of her 14th birthday anniversary, Sunday evening in Van Wert. ■ ■’ ■

Annual K. C. Rabbit Supper This Evening Members of the Knights of Columbus lodge and their wives will attend the 24th annual rabbit supper of the local K. of C. lodge at 6:30 o’clock this evening. ' A program oL entertainment will be presented after the meal by the Sentimental Four, a barbershop quartet from Fort Wayne. Dancing to the music of Don Underwood's orchestra will follow. Training School For Den Mothers A training school for den mothers is being planned by the local Cub Scout committee at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Lincoln school. Girl Scout News Brownie troop 12 met after school Tuesday. Roll call was answered and dues were collected. We turned in our cookie orders. Then we played games. We closed our meeting with the Brownie promise. Scribe: Beverly Spiegel Brownie troop 27 met at the Lincoln school Monday night after school. The meeting was opened with the Brownie promise and the singing of the Brownie song. We also sang “Make New Friends.” After roll call and collection of dues, we each told how many boxes of cookies we had sold. We then had a discussion on what we liked about Brownies and what we would like best to do in future meetings. Then we drew pictures and colored them. Jackie Geisler gave us a treat.
