She is presently employed by the Citizens Telephone company in Decatur. A graduate of Hartford high school, her fiance is a student at Indiana University, at Bloomington. Election of officers was held and the following were elected: Joetta Habegger, president: Cheryl Knudsen. secretary-treasurer, and Becky Miller, scribe. The girls then worked on their duck game. Mary Lou Hooper treated us this week. The meeting closed with the magic tunnel. OSSIAN COUPLE IS WED SUNDAY AFTERNOON The Evangelical United Brethren church at Ossian was the scepe of the Sunday afternoon marriage of Miss Janet May Mcßride and Max E. Miller. Rev. Lewi's Strong officiated. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Meßride and Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Miller, all ot Ossian. Miss Fay Miller attended her sister as maid-of-honor, and bridesmaids were Miss Lois McBride, another sister, . and the Misses Patty and Rita Miller, sisters of the bridegroom. Ronnie Childres, ofßunker Hill, was best man, and Keith Butt, of Akron, Bob Diran. of Peru, and Keith Mcßride, brother of the bride, ushered. A reception was held following the ceremony, in the church basemen. Serving the guests were the Misses Patsy and Laura Mankey, Craigville, aunts of the bride; Connie Dennis, of Fort Wayne; and Winne Mankey and Carolyn Hoffman, of Decatur, both cousins of the bride. Following a southern wedding trip, the couple will reside in Peru. EMBLEM CLUB HAS MEETING The Decatur Emblem club met recently at the Elks home for the regular January meeting. Mrs. Oran Schultz, president, conducted the business meeting. A social hour followed and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Herman Meyers, Mrs. George Laurent and Mrs. Schultz. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Bernard Hain, Mrs. Jo<, Kelly, Mrs. Robert o’Shaughnessey and Mrs. Charles O’Shaughnessey. RECENT MEETING IS HELD BY KIRKLAND LADIES CLUB The Kirkland Ladies club met Tuesday evening at the Adams Central school. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Robert Kershner. Guest speaker at the meeting was Mrs. Don Lutes, of Lutes Flowers, who gave an interesting demonstration of floral arrangement. She also made several corsages. Mrs. Harold Barger gave devotions, after which an installation service was held for the new officers. The song of the month was sung, followed by roll call, and the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports. The meeting was closed with the club prayer. The club is invited to attend a Valentine tea, to be given by the Merrier Monday’s club, February 11 at the Co-op building in Monroe. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Carl Bieberich, Mrs. Harold Barger, Mrs. Harold Henschen and Mrs. Robert Kershner, to 24 members and two guests. The Adult class of the Zion Lutheran church will meet in the parish hall at 7:30 p.m., Sunday. A film, "The living Word,” will be shown, and a social hour will follow. Hosts and hostesses will be Mr. and Mrs. Llpyd Conrad, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bauer, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dierkes. Mrs. Dan Christen will foe hostess to the Eta Tau Sigma sorority, Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock. The Sacred Heart study club will meet with Mrs. Fred Heimann, Monday evening at evening at 8 o’clock. The Happy Homemakers home demonstration club will meet Tuesday, evening at 7:30 o’clock, at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Parrish. WOMAN’S CLUB GROUPS WILL MEET MONDAY Mrs. Harry Dailey will be hostess to the Music department of the Decatur Woman’s club, Monday evening at 8 o’clock. Mrs. Stuart Brightwell, Mrs. Glen Borchers, and Miss Helen Haubold. Mrs. Robert I. Macklin, program chairman, will present the life of David Ewen as told in “A Journey to Greatness.’’ The Dramatic section wiH hold their regular meeting at the Youth and Community center, starting at 8 p.m. Mrs. O. M. McGeath will be hostess, and Mrs. Gerald Durkin, Mrs. Randolph Brandyberry, Mrs. Reid B. Erekson and will assist. The program will be provided by a student debate team. “Recent Civil War Fiction” is the theme of the program to be given when the Literature department meets with Miss Fan Hammell. The committee for the evening includes Mrs. George Buckley, Mrs. R. C. Hersh, and Mrs. Richard Schauss. The Youth and Community center will be the scene of the Civic department's meeting. Hostesses will be Mrs. Ralph Smith, Mrs. R. K. McConnell, Mrs. Frank Lynch, and Mrs. George Rentz. 7Tie program will center around the theme, "Public schools are our American heritage.” Mrs. Milo W. Black will entertain members of the Art department. Miss Kathryn Kauffman is chairman of the program, "Harmony and Achievement in Art.” Mrs. Francis Howell and Mrs. Joe Morris comprise the assisting committee. . A program dealing with interior decorating will be presented to members of the Junior Women’s department as they meet Monday evening with Mrs. Fred Meier. Included on the committee are Mrs. Charles Stonestreet, Mrs. Robert Miller, Miss Linda Pollack and Miss Jackie James. The next general meeting of the organization will be held February 18, at the Youth and Community center, with the Civic department in charge. Mrs. Delton Passwater is the chairman, and she will be assisted by Mrs. Ketchum, Mrs. Charles Magley, and Mrs. Noble Reynolds. The Ladies Shakespeare club will meet Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. Fred- Smith. Helen Whittern Is Married Sunday To James H. Mueller Miss Helen Irene Whittern and James Herbert Mueller exchanged wedding vows Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Monroeville Methodist church. The Rev. Edmund W. Minhich, assisted by the Rev. William Meddock, performed the double ring ceremony, before an altar banked with mountain laurel and rhododendron, with beauty vases of white snapdragons. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whittern, of route 2, Monroeville, and the bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Mueller, of Dearborn, Mich. A program of wedding music was presented preceding the ceremony, by Mrs. Mary Whittern Wright, vocalist, and Lou Gerig, organist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a gown of chantilly lace and nylon tulle. The snuggly fitted bodice of lace was styled with a V in the front, and a deep V in the back, with a bow and white satin streammers, Lace ruffles were attached fa the bouffant skirt of nylon Wille, and she wore long lace rrZits of chantilly lace. Her fingertip veil of illusion was caught to a crown of chantilly Motorist Arrested On Speeding Charge Terry L. Conrad, 23, of Fort Wayne, was arrested Wednesday on U. S. highway 33 north of Pleasant Mills on a charge of speeding. He will appear in Floyd Hunter’s justice of the peace court Friday. Mary M. Haefling, 20, of Fort Wayne, arrested Tuesday on U. S. highway 27 south of Decatur for improper passing, appeared in J. Pt court Wednesday and was fined $1 and costs. I Modern Etiquette I _BY ROBERTA LEE Q. Mrs. Whittern attended her daughter's wedding in a navy silk print dress, with winter white acessories. The bridegroom’s mother wore a dust blue silk shantung dress, with darker blue accessories. Both mothers had corsages of red sweetheart roses. The social room of the church was the scene of the reception, which was held immediately following the ceremony. The brial table was centered with a tiered wedding cake, and flanked with slim yellow tapers, and mountain laurel and rhododendron foliage. Serving the guests were Lois Miller, Esther Morrison, and Sara Hoyt. Mrs. Mueller was graduated from the school of nursing at the University of Michigan, and her i husband was graduated front the University of Michigan.
