Kadar Regime Puls Pressure On Hungarians Attempts To Build Up New Communist Party In Hungary VIENNA (UP) — The puppet Janos Kadar regime is bringing heavy pressure to bear on rebellious Hungarian workers in an attempt to build up a new Communist Party, reports reaching Vienna said today. There was no new information from Budapest on the imprisonment by the Communists of two Americans, Mrs. George Chapelle, of Milwaukee, *Wis., and Richard Roraback, of Dobbs Ferry, N. Y. The Communist regime informed the U.S. legation in Budapest Monday of the arrest of Mrs. Chapelle, a 35-year-old free-lance photographer who apparently tried to smuggle herself into Hungary. Her whereabouts had been a mystery since she left Vienna Dec. 4. Roraback, 26, and a Norwegian Companion were seized by Communist Hungarian border guards last Saturday while trying to help Hungarian refugees across toe Iron Curtain border, according to Austrian authorities. The Kadar regime has made no mention of the incident this far. Austrian officials feared toe reimposition of the Stalinist policestate in Hungary would set off a new wave or refugees to the West. The government appealed to the Intergovernment - Committee for European Migration for urgent help. Reports reaching Geneva said the flow of Hungarian refugees into Yugoslavia has suddenly increased. The office of the United Nations high commissioner for refugees reported 950 refugees crossed from Hungary within the past 48 hours, raising the total in Yugoslavia to 4,800.

Hearing Starts On British Physician Prosecution Says Widow Murdered EASTBOURNE, England (UPIX The bedside nurse of a wealthy widow who died while under toe care of Dr. J. Bodkin Adams testified today the patient once threatened to cut the doctor out of her will. Nurse Caroline Randall was called as toe first prosecution witness as toe preliminary hearing on the patient’s death went into its second day. The hearing will determine whether the Crown has enough evidence to order the chubby, 57-year-old doctor to stand trial for murder. In its opening statement Monday the prosecution charged that Adams murdered Mrs. Edith Alice Morrell five years ago with overdoses of heroin and morphine. It also brought up the names of two other patients who died under questionable circumstances while under Adams' care. The attorneys said toe defendant profited from all three deaths. Miss Randall said she served as Mrs. Morrell’s nurse for 22 months and was at her bedside when she died. She said she gave the patient nightly injections of morphia on orders from the doctor, and later he ordered injections of heroin, which caused the patient to become “very collapsed.” Asked if she associated Mrs. Morrell’s illness in any way to toe injections, toe nurse said: “I did—to toe heroin.’? She said when Adams went away on vacation in *1950 without telling Mrs. Morrell, toe patient was annoyed. “Did Mrs. Morrell tell you when Dr. Adams was away that she intended to alter her will and cut him out of it—or words to that effect?" defense attorney Geoffrey Lawrence asked in cross-examina-tion. “Yes. She was annoyed,” toe nurse replied. However, she said she did not know if Mrs. Morrell actually cut Adams out of her will at that time.
