Monroe Rural Fire / J Truck Is Purchased The Monroe rural fire department today announced purchase of a fire truck, with all equipment. The Ford 800 chassis was purchased from the Moser Motor Sales, of Berne, and fire fighting

Minor Accidents Reported In City Accidents Blamed On Icy Pavements Three‘minor accidents occurred in the city Saturday, all caused by icy streets."" A Kelly Drycleaner truck operated by Tony Kelly, 17, of Decatur, was damaged at 1:40 p. m. at the corner of Ninth and Nuttman. The truck, headed south en Ninth street, was struck by a car driven by Max L. Faurote of Warsaw, who was going east on Nuttman. Neither vehicle could stop on the ice to avoid the accident. Damage was estimated at SIOO to the truck* and S3OO to the car. Two accidents occurred on North Second street in the 900 block within a few minutes later in the afternoon. The first happened when Keith Lamar Brandt, 17, of Decatur route two, lost control of his car and skidded across the street, hitting « city light post, causing S7O damage to the car and $35 damage to the post. A few minutes later Floyd D. Chilcote. 48, of Fort Wayne, stopped at the scene. A car driven by Eleanor A. Bieberich, 37, of Decatur route six, was following him and was unable to stop because of the ice. She hit the rear of the Chilcote vehicle. Damage was minor. . Eddie Cantor Shows Marked tmprovment i HQLLYWOpD (UP) << Comedian Eddie Cantor showed marked improvement today following his collapse at the end of an hour-long television show honoring his 65th birthday. The banjoeyed entertainer of vaudeville, movies and television was reported sitting up and “feeling fine” at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, where he was taken after his collapse, on the Saturday night show. Dr. Eliot Corda, who has accompanied Cantor on all public performances since his heart attack in 1952, said the comedian was "not in apy immediate danger” and probably would be hospitalized for a few days. Pilot Is Killed As Jet Crashes Sunday Jet Plane Crashes Near Columbia City COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. W» — An F-86 Sabre Jet dived 10,000 feet out of control and exploded In a field south of here Sunday, killing 2nd Lt. Paul Craig, Jr., 21, Butler, Pa., the pilot. Craig was attached to the 163rd Fighter Intercepter Squadron stationed at Baer Field at Fort, Wayne. ’He was on a two-plane routine training flight with Lt. Herjwrt Kriedet, Fort Wayne.

I Bomb Scare Forces l Pupils From Classes k Indiana Technical Building Searched FORT WAYNE, Ind. (W — A bomb scare forced about 1,000 students of Indiana Technical College from their classrooms today. Police radio dispatcher Edward Kelker said he received a telephone call at 9:42 a. m. which said a bomb would go off in the two-story downtown building housing the college at 10 o'clock. College officials were notified and the building was evacuated. Six firemen and 18 policemen searched the building, but found no bomb.
