Grapefruit Starts Day Right 7
With all the emphasis on winter health and better breakfasts, it’s a wise woman who sets her tpble for the first meal of the day with the proper components for good health and energy. And every woman knows that nothing has a cleaner, wake-up taste first thing than a juicy half Florida grapefruit, Florida grapefruit is right at the peak of its goodness and flavor now. You’ll find both seeded and seedless, white and pink grapefruit in your markets. Fix them properly, separating each section from the dividing membranes, and serve with various toppings every day while they’re so good. For they’re so good for you! Low in calories, high in vitamin C, they’re your ablest ally whether you’re fighting the battle of th6 bulge or just plain colds. Besides your daily citrus, a well-balanced breakfast should include eggs in some form (here’s an omelet, a pleasant change anii easy too), sausage or bacon or ham; toast and hotter!'-ana or course, milk. SCHOOL REPORTER friday night game was very dose aid exciting and during the last matter some of the Monmouth fins were screaming (not boovug i so loud when a Union boy was snooting a foul that the referee decided to give the boy another shot.' Although fans of all the schools'■scream at opposing players during games, it is very poor sportmanship and should be stoppied. Good whole-hearted yelling is fine, but let’s watch the screaming, kids, no matter how exciting the game is. -M.H.S.Now it’s on to the tourney. The Eagles will play Hartford on Friday night Although the Gorillas won over Monmouth by a large margin last Saturday night the Eagles are sure that this will not happen again. It would be wonderful to see every MHS fan at the tourney supporting the team. If everyone supports the team and displays his best sportmanship, the boy are sure to play a gartre they can be proud of. LETS GO, EAGLES! ! BEAT HARTFORD •t 11 —M.H.S.— Have you heard that the national award-winning photographs by teenagers are on exhibit at Monmouth? Each year the national scholarstic magazine, and Ansco photopgraphic manufactures sponsor these photography contests. From the 90 national awardwinners 27 were selected for a traveling exhibition, the scholas-tic-Ansco traveling salon. These traveling salons are being exhibited in hundreds of high schools throughout the country. The pictures will be on display at Monmouth for the next few weeks. —M.H.S.— To aid in making money for the band fund, the band members have taken over the Concessions at school. They began on Monday of this week and will be in charge of all concession sales through the 19th, after which the junior class will assume this duty for the rest of the year. —M.H.S.— On Monday night of this week the second team met Hartford at Geneva in the second team tourney. They did not win the game, but every game in which the second boys play adds to their experience and increases Monmouth’s chances of having a winning Eagles team next year. This is a good reason for everyone to get behind the second team and really back it. As almost everyone knows, the second team has had a very good season so far. and by the end of the year MHS should have some fine candidates for next year’s varsity. —M.H.S.— Just before the holidays and immediately after vacation, Monmouth high was host to quite a few visiting alumni. Many grade reports were received from the various colleges of these students and most of these reports are very favorable. Nice going, “grads. Keep it up! —M.H.S.— Every student at Monmouth has been “boning up” on those most important points iri his lessons, lately, for it is n-zw that well- remembered time of the year — exam time. For most of this week the teachers have been giving tests to their classes and now that the exams are almost over everyone breathes a sigh of relief, knowing he has done his best. With the tests off their minds Monmouth students ought tq have the best cheering section at the tourney. —M.H.S.— Monmouth grade school has some new students. They are Richard Whitman, a second grader, and Shared Whitman, who is m the first grade. All the Monmouth students wish to extend a welcome to Richard and Sharol. Grade 5 has a new student also. He is Dale Miller and comes, to Monmouth
from Decatur Lincoln school. Welcome! Also the sth and 6th grade room of Mr. Dawaid has a new set of encyclopedias entitled, “Wonder Books of World Knowledge.** M.H.S.— On Friday there will be a big pep session to send the Eagles on to the county tourney. There will be a cheer bloc and the band will be on hand to play pep songs. So as a climax to this week column MHS says GOOD LUCK, TEAM ! ! ! RAINBRIDGE, N. Y. — (W — Nelson Lord, 18, sent his driver’s license to the state commissioner of motor vehicles following an accident. “I’m through with driving. I'm going into the Army where I’ll be safe,” he wrote.
