4 Departmental Meetings Are Held Monday Evening By Decatur Woman’s Club The January departmental meetings of the Decatur Woman's club Were held Monday evening. Civic Department • “Your Youth in Our Community," was the subject of the Civic department’s meeting which was held at the Youth and Community center. The Rev. W. H. Kirkpatrick of the Church of God was the guest speaker of the evening. Miss Karen Christy rendered several vocal sools. which included "Love Me Tenderly,” “Lay Down Your Arms,” and “You Will Understand." She was accompanied by her mother on the accordion. After a brief business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Norman Kruse, a delicious lunch was served by the committee, which consisted of Mrs. Albert Beery, Mrs. Delton Passwater, Mfrs. Harold Owens, Mrs. George Squire and Mrs. Glenn Custard. Music Department Members of the Music department met at the home of Mrs. Jethro B. Sprunger. There were 21 women present for this January meeting. Mrs. J. Fred Fruchte, who was program chairman, presented an informative paper entitled “A Tour of Early Keyboard Instruments.” At the close of the meeting, refreshments were served by the hostess and Mrs. James B. Kitchen, Mrs. Richard Kershner, and Miss Alice Ruth. Junior Women “Food" was the theme of the Junior Women’s meeting, which was held at the home of Mrs. Ferris Kohne. Roll call was answered by naming a favorite food. Mas. Floyd Reed presided over the business meeting, during which time the secretary's and treasurer’s wert preseined. Mrs. Edward Selking, of Hoagland, was a guest of the club, and very artistically demonstrated’ various methods of decorating cakes. After she had finished one larger cake, she permitted the club members to decorate a large sheet cake, which along to those coffee, was later served to those present. Important business matters will be discussed at this meeting, which will be held at the Youth and Community Center, and all members are urged to be present and on time. Following the business meeting, there will be a meeting of the January. social committee, for the meeting to be held the 22nd. This committee includes Mrs. Jack Heller, Mrs. Dave Heller, Mrs. Forest Deitsch, Mrs. Louis Jacotfe, Mrs. Robert Keller, Mrs. Gene Rash, Mrs. LaVerne Roth and Miss Alice Roth. Mrs. Ernest will be hostess to the Ruth circle of the First Presbyterian church, Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock. The Naomi circle will meet at the same time at the home of Mrs. R. C. Hersh. At 2:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon, the Mary circle will meet with Mrs. Fred Smith, and the Martha circle will meet with Mrs. Lowell Harper. . Epsilon Sigma and XL Alpha lota exemplar chapters of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at the Elks home Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock. St. Jude's study club- will meet at the home of Mrs. Harry Massonne Thursday evening at 8 o’clock. — Mrs. H. W. Culbertson will be. hostess to the Mt. Tabor Methodist W.S.C.S., Friday evening at 7:30 o’clock. Thursday, beginning with circle meetings at 10 a.m. A Scotch luncheon will be served at 12 noon, with the general meeting to-follow at 1:30 p.m. All women of the church are Invited to attend the day long meeting. The Builders class of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church will have their class meeting Friday evening at 7; 30 o’clock, at tiie church. Members are to prepare sandwiches enough for their own family, and coffee will be provided. Arrested On Charge Os Improper Passing Richard E. Rowden, 18, of Monroe, was arrested Monday on U.S. highway 27 north of Decatur on a charge of improper passing. He will appear in justice of the peace court Friday. Robert Wolf. 35, of Fort Wayne, arrested last Friday for speeding, was fined $1 and costs in J.P. court Monday night.
