I . MISS ROTH INNIGER PLANS EAKLY SPRING WEDDING Announcement hag been made of the engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Ruth Inniger to Gordon Klopfenstein, son pf the Rev. and Mrs. J. J. Klopfenstein of Berne. Miss Inniger is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Inniger, also of Berne. Both Miss Inniger and her fiance are graduates of Fort Wayne Bible College and have done graduate study at Indiana University. Miss Inniger teaches near Morristown, Tenn., and Klopfenstein is a teacher at the Aboite township school. The American Legion auxiliary will hgve a business meeting at the Legion home, Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock. CLASS PARTY IS HELD IN .. METHODIST *REC* ROOM The class party of the Wesley class of the First Methodist church was held Thursday evening in the recreation room of the church. Mrs. Lowell Smith led in opening devotions, and the president, Mrs. Clarence Smltley, conducted a business' meeting. During the social hour, games and contests were enjoyed after which refreshments were served by the committee, which consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Owens, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Mcßride, and Mrs. Perry Roe. CLASS HAS *- REGULAR MEETING . The Everready class ‘of the Methodist church met last evening in the church lounge. Devotions were given by Mrs. Fred Busche, and Mrs. Dovie Bedwell presided over the business session. HARDEN The Women’s Missionary Association of the Pleasant Grove United Brethren in Christ church, held their regular monthly meeting Thursday, at the home of Mrs. Clyde Harden. • "Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun," was the opening song, following by "In Christ, there is no east or west” Mrs. Wilmer Grote read the scripture, and prayer was offered by Mrs. Harden. A map talk on Southeast Asia, and the lesson on churches of the area, use of the Bible, worship education, medical clinics, and status of women, were topics presented by Mrs. Ermil Shifferly. The hymn, "A Charge to Keep I Have” concluded the program, after which a business meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Shifferly. Mrs. John Burger will be hostess for the February meeting of the group, and Mrs. Carlyle Seiple will be in-charge of the program. NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY IS HELD AT PREBLE James Fuhrman, Janet Shatter; Linda and Lila Kruetzman were host and hostesses for a New Year’s Eve party, held Monday evening at the Preble recreation center. Games, contests and square dancing were provided for the evening’s entertainment. Democratic Party Leaders In Parley Harmony Breakfast Held At Washington WASHINGTON, (tfl — Democratic party leaders outside of Congress bid today at a tbp-level harmony breakfast for collaboration with their congressional counterparts. ’ The new Democratic National Advisory Committee invited Speaker Sam Rayburn, Senate Democratic Leader Lyndon B Johnson and their lieutenants to a breakfast in hopes of wooing them into cooperating with the committee. The Democratic congressional leaders declined to serve as members but agreed to consult with the committee which originally was designed to serve as a voice for Democrats in and out of Congress. Ody eight of 20 appointees • to the advisory group have definitely accepted. Five of these eight held their first session Friday with eight of the 14 members of the Democratic Executive committee. Former President Trumart, •twite-defeated presidential nominee Adlai E. Stevenson, Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Gov. Averell Harriman of New York and Gov. G. Mennen Williams of Michigan were the advisory committee members present. All proceeds from the annual Christmas seal sale are used in the fight on tuberculosis and to provide free clinics and otherwise carry on the fight against the “white plague.’* Th< sale is conducted by the Adams [ county tuberculosis association. Harry R. Frauhiger Named Distributor Harry R. Frauhiger, of 243 North Fifth street, has been appointed new distributor in the Decatur area for National Oil & Gas, Inc., of Phillip 66 products, it was announced here today. Frauhiger resigned Wednesday as manager of the Sears & Roebuck Co. store in this city, a position he had held since the store opened one year ago. He was previously a salesman for Sears in Fort Wayne for two and one-half years. He has resided in Decatur since 1937, is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, married and the fatittr' of nine children. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mahari,. former residents of Decatur now living in Fort Wayne, h are parents of a baby girl, born December 30 at the St. Joseph hospital in Fort Wayne. She has been named Jacqualine Marie. Donald and Jean Lautenschleger Kipfer, of Bluffton, are parents of a baby boy, born this morning at 3:30 o’clock, at the Wells county hospital in Bluffton. He weighed seven pounds and one ounce, and has been named Wayne Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lautenchleger of this city are the maternal grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Niemeyer, of Fort Wayne, are parents of a baby girl, born Friday night at 9 o’clock at the Lutheran hospital. The mother is the former Arlene Fuelling, daughter of Mrs. Ida 1 Fuelling, of Hoagland. Benjamin Mazelin Wins Second Place Benjamin Mazelin, Monroe township farmer, won second place in the annual corn and seed show in the soybean class at the agriclutural conference at Purdue,, it was announced today. Roy Mazelin, in the junior show, placed in the red ribbon awards with his soybeans, which had won first place in the county show last month.
