A slight respite from the cold wave is promsied for the weekend, but ft isn’t time yet to shed your ’’heavies.” Watch the advertising column of tiie Daily Democrat each night for the many bargains which local merchants are offering. You’ll be the winner, if you get the “state & Decatur” habit and take advantage of the money savers the year around. If you look around, you’ll soon agree that De--3 eatur is your best shoppftig beadquarters. l. James C. Basham, young De- " eater father, stricken with polio last summer, and still a patient in a Fort Wayne hospital where he is fighting a hard and successful fight for complete recovery, is a glowing example of emirage. doggedness and a desire to live. Jim, an employe of Central Soya here in Decafor. hat been Hospitalized almost a half year and fti al! probability, he will remain in the hospital another month or two. Slowly, he is re-learning how to um the legs, which polio robbed him of and his doctors fend Jiiii, himself, believe tout he Wffl return soon now to the family life which was so rudely interrupted a half year ago. The Marc* of Dimes campaign, Bow in progress, is the fund raising drive for research, so Decatur and all other communities can eliminate similar incidents forever. Many polio victims do not have the courage of a Jim Basham and many do not have the care. The March of Dimes is the organized effort of good people of the fation to, with their contributions, make research and care of victims possible. You are asked to join in this great March to eventually stamp ent the number one crippier. The next victim could teell be your own child or grand child. Won’t you help, with a small donation? .. hM — w ii — ■ ■" —
