If Christmas preparations have you worn to a frazzle, you may not want to knock yourself out with a big party on New Year’s Eve. But it’s such fun to get the' gang together—try serving a light snack or dessert. This snowman cake is easy to make and should score • hit with any age group. t Happy Snowman Cake 1/2 cap shortening 2 cups sifted cake flour 1 1/3 caps sugar 3 teaspoons baking powder. 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cop milk 1/4 oop milk 2 eg 2 s ' 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ■ Combine shortening, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and onehalf cup milk in mixing bowl.
Beat two minutes by hand (medium speed on electric mixer). Add one-fourth pup milk, eggs and flavoring and beat two minutes more,
scraping bowl often. Place six tablespoons batter in greased and floured custard clip (for head). Place remaining batter in greased and floured two-quart ovenproof glass bowl. Bake custard cup thirty minutes and bowl sixty-five minutes in moderate oven (350*F ). Cool in containers fifteen minutes. Loosen around sides and turn out, round side up, on cake rack. When cool, frost with fluffy white frosting and decorate as for snowman. Yield: Ten generous servings. Bright Christmas candies make ,gay buttons for the happy snow-

Thomas Reelected Chairman "Weam Pollution Board In Meeting INDIANAPOLIS (W — The Indiana Stream Pollution Control J board re-elected Anson S. Thomas, ( the Indiana Far/n Bureau’s tax ' and legislative director, as its chairman Wednesday. The board also named Lewis S. Finch, vice-president and chief ; engineer of the Indianapolis Wat- ■ er company, as its vice-chairman for another year. At the board meeting, technical secretary B. A. Poole said 21 communities have requested a total of $2,900,000 from a $1,027,400 federal allotment to Indiana for sewage treatment projects. The law to help communities with sewage problems was enacted by Congress last year. But Poole said less than onehalf of the totals requested from the federal appropriation will be available for assistance of the 21 Indiana communities. The board also issued coders to ; abate pollution to the City of Lebanon and to the Great Lakes Duck Farm near Michigan City. , The farm was said by the board 1 to have polluted Bosserman Creek'; in LaPorte County.
