PSI IOTA XI SORORITY HAS REGULAR MEETING The local Psi lota Xi sorority met Tuesday evening at the Youth and Community center. ' President Betty McNerncy presided over the business session. Barbara Osterman read the minutes of the previous meeting and Barbara August gave the treasurer’s report. The group voted to buy a TB health bond, and also to donate SSO to the De it's Good Fellows pro- f ject. Discussion centered around' the speech and hearing clinic which the sorority will sponsor again next summer. It was announced that the midyear luncheon will be held at Indianapolis, February 2, and reservations are to be in as soon as possible. There will be a $1 gift exchange at the sorority’s Christmas party, which will be held at the Center next Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. TURKEY DINNER HELD BY OLIVE REBEKAH LODGE Members of the Olive Rebekah lodge 86 held their annual turkey dinner and Christmas exchange in the Odd Fellows hall, Tuesday evening. Seasonal colors were used for decorations in the dining room, along with miniature Christmas trees. The tables were adorned with pine branches, candles, and individual candy canes. After the dinner, a Christmas gift exchange was conducted. In charge of arrangements for the affair were Mrs. Nancy Lengerich, Mrs. Opal Myers, Mrs. Clara Drum, Mrs. Helen Lister and Mrs. Catherine Ogg. The regular lodge meeting was held and plans were completed for the installation services for new officers, to be held at the next meeting, January 8. Mrs. Enola Jones of Poneto, who is district president of 31, and her installing staff, are scheduled to be present for the event. AUXILIARY CHRISTMAS PARTY IS HELD AT LEGION HOME The American Legion auxiliary Christmas, party was held recently at the Legion home. A pot luck supper was served at 6:30 o’clock, from tables decorated in keeping with the season. Special Christmas music was provided during the dinner hour, by Miss Gladys Ewell, Miss Marilyn Reinking and Mrs. Fred, Bieberich. After the dinner, the entire group joined in singing numerous Christmas carols. An exchange of gifts was held, after which games were played, and prizes were awarded to the Mesdames Faye Mutschler, Harold Ely, Dee Fryback, Herman Bittner, Nelson Doty, Tom Kitson, Ed Jaberg, Harve Baker, Herman Dierkes, Ralph Roop, Martin Seiking, T. C. Smith, Don Beery» Frances Monahan, Ben Eiting, Joe Gray, Ed Frauhiger, Herbert gurdge, Edwin Bauer and Miss Eileen Bieberich. Guests were registered by Mrs. Martin Selking and Mrs. Frank Schuller,,—The committee in charge of arrangements for the evening consisted of the Mesdames Fred Bieberich, Don Jeffrey, Harold Hoffman, Otto Wefel, Herman Bittner, Adrian Baker and Ralph Roop. A business meeting will be conducted by the auxiliary on January 8.

CHRISTMAS PARTY IS HELD BY PYTHIAN NEEDLE CLUB . Forty-eight members of the Pythian Sisters Needle club attended the annual Christmas party and gift exchange of that group, which was held Monday evening at the K. of P. home. Mrs. Lloyd Ahr played a selection of Christinas carols, after which many of these were sung by the group. A solo, "O Holy Night,’’ was sung by Mrs. Asa Pollack. A turkey dinner was served from tables decorated in the Christmas motif. Christmas gifts, which had been placed beneath a beautifully decorated tree, were later exchanged. Members of the evening's committee were Mrs. Delton Passwater, Mrs. Robert Garard, Mrs. John Doan, Mrs. Joe Hunter and Mrs. Ed Ahr. New officers are president, Mrs. Ed Ahr, secretary, Mrs. Frank Crist, and treasurer, Mrs. Charles Beineke. KIRKLAND LADIES CLUB .. HAS CHRISTMAS MEETING The annual Christmas party and gift exchange of the Kirkland Ladies club was held Monday evening. A pot luck dinner was served, after which Mrs. Albert Beineke showed colored’ slides of her interesting trip to Europe last summer. “The Christmas Story” was read by Mfrs. Ralph Ross, Jr., after which the group sang Christmas carols, led by Mrs. Walter Egley. The door prize was won by Mrs. Oscar Brown. Hostesses were Mrs. John Leipe, Mrs. Ross. Mrs. William Griffiths and Mrs. Edgar Zimmerman. HISTORICAL CLUB MEETS WITH MRS. ROBINSON The Historical club met recently at the home of Mrs. W. P. Robinson for their annual Christmas party. A delicious dinner was served, after which a gift exchange was held. Mrs. Harley Wright read an entertaining Christmas story, as part of the afternoon's program. There were 20 members in attendance.

BETA SIGMA PHI GROUPS MEET AT ELLSWORTH HOME Mrs. Francis Ellsworth was hostess Tuesday evening to the Xi Alpha Xi and Delta Lambda chapters of Beta Sigma Phi. The Ellsworth home was beautifully decorated with Christmas arrangements, including a large tree, under which gifts were placed for each guest. Small tables were set up throughout the room, and refreshments were served by the hostess t who was assisted by Mrs. Glenn-Hill and Mrs. Vernon Custer. B. P. W. MEMBERS ATTEND BUFFET LUNCHEON The annual Christmas party for members of the Decatur Business and Professional Woman’s club was held Wednesday evening at the Decatur Youth and Community Center. Officers of the club were in charge of arrangements. A brief business session followed a buffet luncheon. The program included singing Christmas carols with Miss Rheta Butcher as accompanist. Also on the program were a Christmas story read by Mrs. Francis Howard, contests, a Christmas quiz and the exchange of gifts. The annual donation of the club members to the Good Fellows club was collected and $12.50 will be presented to the Good Fellows. The club also will donate $lO to the Adams county tuberculosis association. Mrs. B. G. Thomas will be hostess for the Research club Christmas party, to be held Monday afternoon at 2:30. Mrs. Virgil Sexton will be the leader, and she will review “Famous American Cathedrals.” The committee consists of the Mesdames John M. Doan, Noah Bixler, Edward Cook, O. L. Vance and A. R. Holthouse. The Decatur Home Demonstration club’s annual Christmas dinner will be held at the C. L. of C. hall next Wednesday at 6:30 o’clock. A pot luck supper will be served, and each member is requested to bring a 50-cent gift exchange, a $1 gift for the cheer sister, and their own table service. Mrs. Julius Schultz will entertain the members of the St. Ambrose study club, Tuesday evening at 6:30 o'clock. The Emmaus Guild of the Zion Lutheran church will meet next Wednesday at 8 o’clock, at the parish hall, with a 50-cent gift

There will be a 50 cent gift exchange, and also a $1 gift exchange for the cheer sisters. All members of the Jolly Housewives home demonstration club are urged to attend a pot luck dinner, to be served at the Youth and Community center, next Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. Burglar Critically Wounded By Officer INDIANAPOLIS-OB — Patrolman Paul Pearsey shot and critically wounded a burglary suspect early today. Pearsey and another patrohnan noticed the doors of a case-bar had been forced open and found Marvin Leo Lawrence, 39, Indianapolis, inside. Pearsey said he thought Lawrence was reaching for,a gun and Shot him in the left hand and groin. Pearsey said he recognized Lawrence as the escaping man he fired at in 1952.
