Junior High, Frosh Defeated Thursday Decatur junior high and freshman teams were both defeated in a double header played at New Haven Thursday evening. Junior high lost by a 31-27 score. New Haven led at the first quarter, 8-4, Decatur was on top at the .half, 16-12, and the teams were tied at the third period, 2020. Brennan s Record f As Coach Defended SOUTH BEND, Ind. (UP)—The vice president of Notre Dame defended Irish Coach Terry Brennan Thursday night and said there is no truth to rumors the university is de-emphasizlng football. The Rev. Edmund P. Joyces speaking at the annual Notre Dame football banquet, drew a parallel between Brennan’s disasterous season thia yepr and Knute Rockne’s worst year in 1928 when the Jrish Immortal lost four games. Father Joyce said Rockne went through the 1928 season with a predominantly sophomore team. Declaring that “adversity can be the breeding ground of success,” he recalled the Irish went through the next two seasons unbeaten.
