MBS. HARRY DANIELS IS HOSTESS TO SOCIETY The Missionary society of the Pleasant Mills Baptist church met recently at the home at Mrs. Harry Daniels. The lesson, taken from "Joyful Journey," was presented by Mrs; Lowell Noll. After the lesson and business session which followed, refreshments were served by the hostess, who was assisted by Mrs. Ben McCullough. The Eagles auxiliary will have a meeting Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock, at the Eagles hall. Delta Theta Tau sorority will meet at the Youth and Community center, Tuesday evening at 8 o’- • clock. Hostesses will be Mrs. Ned Myers and Miss Rosalee Miller. The, Pleasant Mills P.T.A. is sponsoring an auction sale, Friday evening, starting at 7 o’clock, at the Pleasant Mills school. The Zion Lutheran Needle club will meet Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock, at the parish hall. There will be an election of officers. Mrs. Joseph Schultz will be hostess to the Guardian Angel study club, Thursday evening at 8 o’clock.

The meeting of the Past Matrons of the Order of Eastern Star, scheduled for Thursday evening, has been postponed. Epsiom Sigma and Xi Alphalota chapters of Beta Sigma Phi, will conduct formal initiation exercises Wednesday at 8 o’clock at the Elks home. The Women of the Moose will meet Thursday evening at 8 o’clock, at the Moose home. Officers are to meet at 7:30 o’clock. A social. hour will follow the meeting. Robert Vogjewede and son Robert, Jr., returned to their home in Detroit, after having spent the week-end visiting with Mrs. C. J. Voglewede and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. G. Remy Bierly spent the Thanksgiving holidays visiting with two sons and a daughter who live in Louisville, Ky. Mrs. Bierly will remain there for another week. Mrs. Vaughn L. Hilyard left for New York City last night, where she will spend the next five days on a buying trip for Wolf and Dessauer in Fort Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Teeple and daughters Gladys and Belva, have returned home after spending several days in New York City. At the Adams county memorial hospital: Victor and Kristine Striker Porter of 324 Line street are the parents of a son, born Saturday at 11 a.m. He weighed seven pounds and 11 ounces. A son was born Saturday at 9 p.m., to Richard and Carolyn Charleston Beard of Ohio City, 0., weighing eight pounds, five and a half ounces. An eight pounds, 10% ounce daughter was born Sunday morning, at 2 o’clock, to John and Ilene Smith Rickord of 716 Walnut street. Ralph and Irene Conrad Grote of route 5 become the parents of a five pound, five ounce son, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, at ll:ll~'p.m., a baby boy was born to John E. and Susan Wickey Schmidt of Monroe. He weighed five pounds and 15 ounces. Girl Scout News. Girl Scoput troop 11 met Tuesday at the Lincoln school. We opened with the Girl Scout promise. Then we had roll call and collection of dues. We divided into four groups and then each group dramatized a fairy tale. Mrs. Rumple treated us with a candy tor. Junior Bands Will Mass For Christmas Program In Schools Junior bands of Adams county schools are joining forces to present a Christmas program in the various schools Tuesday, Dec. 18. The massed bands will start the tour in the north part of the county. . They will play at Monmouth, Decatur Northwest, Catholic and Lincoln, and Pleasant Mills grade schools in the morhing, and Berne. Jefferson and Hartford in the afternoon. The program will include Christmas carols for group singing, as well as special band numbers, Santa Claus will travel with the band to tell the story "Silent Night.” Touring with Santa will be one of his best friend, Rudolph. Four Escape When C-46 Plane Crashes New Haven Man Is Pilot Os Airplane COLUMBUS, Ind. <UP)—A fourman Hoosier crew escaped with injuries early today when a C-46 troop carrier and cargo-type plane crashed on a farm two miles northeast of Bakalar Air Force Base during an instrument landing. y The twin-engine plane burst into flames when it hit the ground but the fire was extinguished. The crew, members of the 434th, Reserve Troop Carrier Wing, was composed of Maj. George J. Dobbelaere, New Haven, Ind., the pilot; Capt. Verlin D. Friar, Marion, Ind., co-pilot; Capt. James P. Davis, Fort Wayne, lnd„ navigator, and Staff Sgt. Williafri A. Ruddick, Muncie, Ind., crew chigf. All were rushed to Bartholomew County Hospital here but only Friar was kept for further examination. A base officer said Friar was “mere seriously injured” than the others. ——- The plane, returning from a training flight to Sewart Air Force Base, Smyrna, Tenn., was in radio contact with the Bakalar tower. Lt. George Wildman, the base information service officer, said the crash occurred on the final approach to the base.

Disciples of Christ, will be televised by 93 stations of the NBCTV, at 9:30 p. m. EST Tuesday, arid may be seen locally over WKJG-TV. The film was produced at a missionary center in the Belgian Congo, and features the work of Dr. John E. Ross, who has been stationed there 14 years. It will be shown on the “March of Medicine" series. Dr. Ross is a native of Califor-
nia and a graduate of the Indiana University school oil medicine, who works 14 hours daily performing operations at the hospital and in treating a variety of tropical diseases, including leprosy. The film was produced by Smith, Kline and French laboratoires in cooperation with the American medical association. John Gunther, noted author who wrote the best seller, “Inside Africa," will be one of the chief
