SCHOOL REPORTER Did you get copy of the Jacket Journal today? The Thanksgiving edition! The Journalism class has worked hard this month to put out two editions for you to read — But!! it has been reported that some members of D.H.S. do not like the J. J., and think that there are some different things that should be put in every issue. If you are one of these people, turn in your suggestion to Mr. Dorwln or to a member of the J. J. staff and your suggestion will be considered very carefully. —D.H.S.— Have you worked as hard as you could have on your home work this past six weeks, or does your conscience bother you just a-little bit? Well, in Just a few more days you should know, because next Tuesday the report cards come out. Let's see everyone's name on the honor roll, if not this time then definitely the next time. —D.H.S.If you have noticed quite a bit of congestion on the second floor this past week, it is because some of the senior name cards are here and all of the underclassmen have been trying to get a senior name card and the seniors are busy trading their’s with other members of the senior class. —D.H.S.— By now, you all have realized that school is over for two days for Thanksgiving vacation. Yes, you now have two days to loaf, work, or shop — especially shop, for Christmas is only 33 days away, and that's not very long. Have fun! —D.H.S.— But try to remember one thing while you are away from school. Thanksgiving is not just a reason to get out of school, it is a day on which you should be thankful. So take time from your busy schedule and think of the many things you should be thankful for—- — home, your parents, your school, your friends, your country, and your freedom. Be thankful and happy thanksgiving! —D.H.S.MONMOUTH HIGH SCHOOL By Grace Fuhrman

See You Next Monday! .' Lest Wednesday was another picture-taking day. All class officers, people who were absent on student picture taking day, and other group picture were taken. At noon the office help had quite an audience as they had their pictures taken behind the big window facing the hall. All pictures were taken by Lawrence Anspaugh, the yearbook photographer for this year. -M.H.S.— The honor roll of donors to the band fund has been growing more and more each day. At the present the uniform — fund boasts about 81,000. However, $450 of this was already in the fund when the soliciting started. As you can see, the band still needs io raise approximately SBOO. It is still not too late for you to help out your school and band. If you should happen to visit school within the next few weeks, notice the wall, in the hall outside the office. Is your name missing from the honor roll of donors? -M.H.S.— Mrs. Jones reports that after talking to many university students, he has found that they afl wish that they had worked harder in high school. The solution to the problem seems to be this; Give college-bound high school students more work to do. Most high school students admit that although they have a lot to do, they could do more studying. A student who has drifted through high school goes to college unprepared, so high school students who wish to continue their education will have to work harder. —M.H.S.— Rev. Benjamin Thomas was the speaker at Monmouth’s first chapel service, which took place two weeks ago. Last Wednesday Rev. E. Settlage, from the Magley Evangelical and Reformed church, was speaker for the second service. After group singing, led by Darrel Gerig, Rev. Settlage spoke on “The Essence of Wisdom”. Following the high school chapel, the grade school also had a chapel service with Rev. Settlage as speaker. —M.H.S.— On November 29 all band members will journey to Adams Central school to practice for the Adams county music festival which will take place on the evening of November 29. On the 28th all chorus members will practice here at MHS. The music festival, held once during every school year, features the combined choruses and bands from all of the county schools. The program promises to be a good one, so get your tickets now from a member of the bands. Just as a hint to you who live in the Monmouth community, each band gets a commission from the tickets it sells and, of course, all money that Mon-
soon! Because it isn’t stilbestrol alone that does the job ... in fact, stilbestrol can’t! It is not a nutrient . . . stilbestrol doesn't replace a thing in the ration. But, by adding stilbestrol to a topnotch ration like Purina Steer Fatena . . . tests showed that it made $lO to sls more per head! Find out for yourself! See your Purina Man . . . this week! CAGE OPPORTUNITY — Have you heard about caged hens? v The business of raising hens in wire cages? Well, if you’ve been considering a part-time job ... or a way to make some extra money on your farm . . . you ought to consider this- cage egg business! In the ftrst place, it should be a *good money-maker. Then there’s this business of who’s going to do the work. With hens all neatly put in cages, work is not too hard . : . in fact, most people in the business figure it takes them only tvjo to three hours a day to do all the work that’s needed for 500 hens! And you don’t have to have a lot of money either! A modest investment is all it takes. Now, if you're worrying because you haven’t raised chickens before, don’t let that bother you! Your Purina dealer can help you get started. Your Purina man is probably one, of the men in town best qualified to adivse you. You talk this cage layer business over with the rest of your family . . . and then go in and see Stiefel’s and ask them how profitable the caged layer business may be for you.
