MR. AND MRS. BABCOCK ARE BOSTS TO WELCOME WAGON Mr. and Mrs. Robert Babcock were hosts Sunday evening to the Welcome Wagon club. A spaghetti dinner was served to 26 members and guests, at 6:30 o’clock, followed by a brief business session. Further plans were made for the Christmas party, to be held December 10. A gift exchange will be’held, and other gifts will be prepared for the residents of the Adams county heme: A social hour followed the business session.

MRS. ERVIN LOCHNER IS HOSTESS TO W.C.T.U. Mrs. Ervin Lohner was recently hostess to the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. After group singing, prayer was offered by Mrs. Chester Wilson. During the business session, plans were made to take treats to the patients at the county home. A pot luck supper and evening of fellowship is planned for December 11 at 6 p.m., at the Pleasant Dale parish hall. Members of W.C.T.U. are invited to bring their families to this meeting. The meeting was closed with prayer offered by Mrs. Katie Ehrman, after which refreshments were, served by the hostess. “The Mayflower Sails Again,” was the timely subject which Mrs. Stuart Brightwell presented Friday afternoon to the members and guests of the Adams county Federation of Woman's clubs. Mrs. R. C. Hersh is president of this group, w'hich met that afternoon in the club room of the public library.---BIRTHS At the Adams county memorial hospital: Herman C. and Kathryn Stucky Alberding of 346 South Third street are the parents of a six pound and nine ounce daughter, born Saturday at 11:25 a m. A baby girl was born Saturday afternoon at 2:36 o’clock, to Robert and Ruby James Lovellette of 717 North Second street. She weighed six pounds, and eight ounces. LOCALS Winston Rawley is reported to be improving at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne, where he has been a patient for the past five weeks. His room number is 464. Mr. and .Mrs. Dick Steele, of Jonesboro, Ark., are guests of Mrs. Harry Fritzinger, where they will remain over the Thanksgiving holidays. A number of Decatur residents were in South Bend Saturday, attending the last home game of the Notre Dame Irish, as they defeated North Carolina, 21-14. Arthur Voglewede weqt to Rochester, Minn., Saturday to bring home his wiff, who underwent surgery at the Mayo Clinic last week, and his mother, Mrs. Charles Voglewede. Mr. and Mrs. Max Reynolds and daughters, Kathleen and Stephanie, of Detroit, Mich., visited over the weekend at the Pete Reynolds home. Mr. and Mrs. W. Lowell Harper visited with their daughter and family in Lorraine, Ohio, over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ault and daughter Kathy will move to Sacramento, this week. Mrs. Arthur Holthouse returned from Louisville, Ky., yesterday, after visiting several weeks with her son, Dan Houthouse and ilyMr. and Mrs. Irvin Hoover and son Riss, of Battle Creek, Mich.; Mrs. Fannie Gearhart of Nashville, Mich., and Mrs. Viola Gow of Woodland, Mich., spent Sunday with the Rev. and Mrs. J.R. Meadows. Mrs. Cora B. Lough of 1227 Madison street, .is a patient at the Caylor Clinic at Bluffton, where she has undergone observation and is receiving treatment. Second and Monroe streets, was sold at auction to Dale W. McMillen, chairman of the board of Central Sugar Co., on his high bid of SIB,OOO. The purchase price included building, equipment, vault and office fixtures. First State Bank will mail out $12,000 in Christmas savings club checks next week. Pupils in Winchester grade school, Monroe township were startled by explosion of shotgun shells in furnace of school. The new furnace was badly damaged but no one was injured. Four study courses in the field of home and church problems will be offered at the Decatur community standard leadership graining: school, which will meet at Decatur high school. Monday evenings, Jan. 4 to Feb. 8 The Rev. H. R. Carson, pastor of the First Methodist church, is dean of the school. Jack Leigh, local insurance agent, suffered Severe head lacerations, necessitating six stitches, when he ran into an iron fence near the Methodist church while playing a game of tag with members of his Sunday school class. Mrs. Joe Kelley Undergoes Surgery Mrs. Joe Kelley of South Fourth street, an employe in the auditing department of Citizens Telephone company, underwent an emergency appendectomy at the Caylor clinic in Bluffton Sunday. Her Condition is reported good today.
