MISS CAROL HALVES IS PRESIDENT OF SORORITY BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Miss Carol Kalver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Kalver, 508 North Second St., Decatur, is serving as president of Sigma Delta Tau social sorority at Indiana University where she is a senior. Carol, in addition to mainting her studies, is active in many organizations on campus. She is majoring in speech and hearing therapy and minoring in psychology and plans to work with public school students. Accordingly, she is getting a teacher’s license and will do her student teaching in the spring, possibly in Fort Wayne. She is a past officer of the speech and Hearing Club; a member of Pleiades, activities honor-p-v- of Hillel Foundation of B’nai B’rith; and a past member of the Y WLA. Summers have been varied for Carol. She worked, this past summer, in the six-weeks speech clinic for 65 school children ranging in age from 6-10 years old. 1116 group in Berne and Decatur was under the auspices of the Adams county crippled children’s society and’ volunteers from Psi lota Xi sorority also aided in the clinic. BUSINESS MEETING HELD BY V. F. W. LADIES AUXILIARY The V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary held a business meeting recently at the V. F. W. home. Glennys Martz, hospital chairman, reminded the group of the hospital party at the Fort Wayne V. A. hospital, t<> be held January 29. It was also decided to have a party there in November of 1957. The fourth district Christmas party wilt be held December 19 at the V. A. hospital in Fort Wayne. Audrey Ballard gave a report on the red stamp project, and also on the membership. Chrystal Hook was made chairman of a home-made candy sale, which is planned for December

The meeting was called to order by tye president, Mrs. Warren Wolfe. Each member answered roll call by giving a "favorite cold remedy.” Miss Wanda Mann gave a report on her-trip to Purdue Uni versity this past summer. Mrs Paul McCullough and Mrs. Lawrence Noll gave the lesson on "Carpet Story." The health and safety lesson was presented by Mrs. Richard Hamrick. Her topic was “Rabies.” Mrs. Wayne Clouse received the door prize, and refreshments were served by Mrs. Harvey Jones and Mrs Ray. The Zion Lutheran Missionarysociety will meet all day Wednesday at the parish ball, starting at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served at tile noon hour, and a short business meeting will follow at 1:30 o’clock. Olive Rebekah lodge 86 will meet ’ at the Odd Fellows hall Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock. The degree staff team will also meet for ' practice. 1 The St. Catherine discussion club 1 will meet Tuesday evening at 8 ; o’clock, at the home of Mrs. El--1 mer Wendel. Ladies auxiliary will celebrate its 10th anniversary Tuesday evening, with a carry in supper for members and their families, starting at 6 o’clock. Following the suppen June Hawk, fourth district president, will award 10 and five-year pins to the eligible women. Entertainment will follow the awards. The Do Your Best class of the Evangelical United Brethren church will meet at the church Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock
