TRI KAPPA ASSOCIATES ENTERTAINED AT DINNER The banquet room of the Youth and Community Center was appropriately decorated Tuesday evening to look like campaign headquarters for the two political parties, instead of for a sorority dinner, which it was. The local Alpha Sigma chapter of Tri Kappa, held their annual dinner party entertaining the> associated chapter of Tri Kappa at the center on election night. Serving tables were brightly decorated with red, white and blue crepe paper steamers, and red, white and blue “floating” balloons. The dinner was served buffet style, from a table centered with a floral ararngement of red, white and blue tinted carnations. TWo suspended red balloons were cleverly decorated to form the Democratic “donkey” and the Republican "elephant.” These balloons were surrounded by other balloons in keeping vtfith the color scheme. Following the dinner, Mrs. James Kocher, Jr., president of the active chapter of Tri Kappa, welcomed Mrs. Harold Carithers of Berne, as a new member of the sorority. Mrs. Carithers is an affiliate from the Tri Kappa chapter at Montmorenci. Mrs. Lewis Smith, county chairman of the mental health Christmas gift project, gave a short talk to. the group, and explained the needs for this year’s drive. Members are asked to bring their Christmas wrapped, and labeled gifts to the next meeting of the sorority, November 27. After the short business session, the members and guests were di- . vided into six separate groups,

| Modern Etiquette BY ROBERTA LEE O d Q. How should one word a note of invitation to a luncheon in honor of a house guest? A. “Dear Anne: Will you lunch with me on Wednesday, the tenth, at one o’clock to meet my guest, Shirley Mason? Hoping so much for the pleasure of seeing you, Sincerely.” Q. Do you approve of a girl’s «s---ing perfume? A. Certainly, I do. But the perfume should be a good one, and its scent should “whisper,” not shout.” Q. Is the bride obligated to give gifts to her attendants? A. This is not so much a question of “obligation.” It is a longstanding custom, and therefore accepted as good form. Saturday, November 10.
