Zander of Hoagland were married Saturday evening at 6:30 o'clock, in the -St . John’s. Lutheran church. The Rev. Edwin A. H. Jacob officiated for the double ring rites. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Berning of route I, Decatur. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Berning, brother and sister-in-law of the bride. The couple was honored at a reception at the American Legion home in Fort Wayne, following the ceremony.

MRS. R. D. MEYERS IS HOSTESS TO CIRCLE . Circle 2 of the Methodist W.S.C. met recently at the home of Mrs. R. D. Meyers, Mrs. Walter Lister offered the devotions, after which the lesson of “What the United Nations Means” was presented by Mrs. Orville Baughman. During the business meeting, plans were made for the fall festival to be held November 14. Refreshments were served to 14 members and one guest. Assisting Mrs. Meyers was Mrs. Harold Gay. ADAMS COUNTY NURSES HAVE HALLOWEEN PARTY The Adams county nurses association met recently at the Legion home for a Halloween party. During the business meeting, the nomination of new officers for the coming year was held, and was followed by a round table discussion. Committee in charge of arrangements for the meeting included Maxine Schmitz, Edna Meyers, Fern Dierkes, Eloise Noll, Emma Snyder and Winnie Eicher. KIRKLAND LADIES CLUB HAS RECENT MEETING The Kirk Hod Ladies club met Tuesday evening at the Adams Central school. Mrs. Floyd Stoneburner gave the devotions and Mrs. Walter Egley led the group in singing the song of the month. During the business session which followed, the officers for the coming year were elected. They are: president, Mrs. Robert Kershner; vice-president, Mrs. Carl Bieberich; secretary, Mrs. Milton Scherry; treasurer, Mrs. Floyd Ehrman; alternate leaders, Mrs. Robert Ross, Jr., and Mrs. Albert Beineke; chorister, Mrs. John Leyse; publicity chairman, Mrs. Theodore Heller; health leader, Mrs. Joe Baumgartner; and citizenship, Mrs. Dorphus Schlickman. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Floyd Ehrman, Mrs. Herman Barger, Mrs. Floyd Stoneburner, and Mrs. flay Heller. FAMILY PARTY HELD BY D. A. V. AUXILIARY The D.A.V. auxiliary held their family party Friday evening at the D.A.V. hall. Members came masked and prizes were awarded to the best “masked” man, wqman. boy, girl, and the smallest boy and girl. Apples were bobbed for, and refreshments of cider and doughnuts were served later in the evening. The Women’s Missionary Association of the Mt. Zion United Brethren church will meet with Mrs. Milton Chronister, Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. . American Legion, unit 43, will meet at the Legion home, Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Mrs. Sylvester Steigmeier will be hostess to the St. Ann study club, when they meet tonight at 7:30 o'clock. The Beta Sigma Phi city council will meet Tuesday evening at o'clock, at the home of Mrs. SeJjynright. ■ , ..... Varva Jo Bishop Recent Bride Os James F. Meyer Wedding vows were exchanged Friday evening, October 26, at 7 o’clock, by Miss Varva Jo Bishop, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude F. Bishop of route 1, Roanoke, and James Fredrick Meyer, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Meyer of 916 High St. in Decatur. The Rev. Robert Contant officiated for the double ring ceremony, which took place in the rectory of the at. Mary s Catholic church. The bride was lovely in a ballerina length gown of chantilly lace over satin,- trimmed with seed pearls. The snugly fitted bodice was designed with a portrait neckline. and brief sleeves. Her bouffant skirt was fashioned with an apron effect of chantilly lace, and ended in a wide flounce of tulle. She wore mits of the chantilly lace to match her gown, and her .waist length veil of imported illusion was caught to a tiarra, studded with seed pearls and sequins. A white orchid, interspersed with white carnations formed her bridal bouquet, and was carried on |( a white prayer book. ( 0 Miss' Jefaiynn. Bishop, sister of the bride, was honor attendant. She was attired in a ballerina length gown of powder blue net over taffeta, trimmed with sequins. She wore a headband of powder blue net leaves, and carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white carnations. Serving as best man for the wedding was Arthur Baker of Decatur. - Mrs. Bishop attended her daughter’s wedding in a powder blue embroidered satin sheath dress, with which she wore matching accessories. The bridegroom’s mother was wearing a.browa-and-white shcathdress of acetate taffeta, and she completed her ensemble with beige accessories. Both mothers corsages of pink and white carnations. - - The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Frank Butler of Chattanooga, 0., and the bridegroom’s grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Vera McClure of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Margaret Stonerock of Decatur, each had a corsage of white carnations. Mrs. Meyer is a graduate of Jefferson township high school, and International Business college, and is presently employed as a secretary for the American Steel Dredge Div., in Fort Wayne.
