Mennonite church In Berne. The Rev. Olin A. Krehbiel officiated for the double-ring ceremony. Maurice Stenson of Carlock, 111. is the father of the bridegroom. Miss Myrtella Lehman, cousin of the bride, sang “God Gave Me You,” and’ Freeman Burkhalter sang “Together Life’s Pathway We Tread.” Together they sang “To My Bride.” Mrs. Charles Habegger, cousin of the bride, was organist. Selections included "Wedding Vows,” “Crossroads,” “My God and I,” “Wedding Song,” and “Saviour Like a Shepherd Lead Us.” Miss Marlene Glame and Miss Eleanor Brenneman, both of Bloomington, lighted the candles

preceding the ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a gown" of white satin, trimmed with embroidered tulle and reembroidered with beads and sequins. The snuggly fitted bodice was designed with a mandarin collar, and long tapering sleeves of the satin formed points over her hands. Embroidered tulle was also appliqued on the bouffant skirt, which ended in a chapel length train. Her finger tip veil of illusion was caught to a lace embroidered tulle plateau, and she carried a white orchid and Stephenotis atop •a white Bible. Miss Marietta Lehman of Berne attended her sister as matron-of-honor, and another sister, Mrs. Merlin Bixler, was bridesmaid. They wore waltz length gowns of taffeta, in mint green and gold, respectively, and each wore a headband to match the color of her gown. Miss Lehman carried a bouquet of gold mums and Mrs. Bixler carried a bouquet of bronze mums. James Gundy of Bluffton, Ohio, attended as best man. Guests were seated by Merlin Bixler of Berne, Max Lehman of East Lansing, Mich., Homer Gundy of Washington, 111., and Clarence Ayer of Bluffton, Ohio. The bride’s mother wore a black dress with black and winter white accessories, and a corsage of gold and white carnations. The bridegroom’s grandmother was also presented a corsage of gold and white carnations. Serving at the reception held in the church basement following the ceremony were Mrs. Hugh Ehrman of Monroe, Mrs. Verlin Eash of Genoa, Ohio, Miss Eleanor Brenneman and Miss Marlene Grove of Bloomington, Mrs. Melvin Rocke of Graymont, Hl. and the Misses Joyce and Arlyss Stenson of Carlock, 111. The bride is a graduate of Berne-French high school, attended Goshen college, and graduated from the Mennonite hospital school of nursing at Bloomington. She will be employed at the Lima memorial hospital in Lima, Ohio. Her husband is a graduate of the Normal Community high school, Normal, 111., and is presently a student at Bluffton college, Bluffton. Ohio. He is also employed at the Baldwin Lima Hamilton Co. in Lima. After November 2, the couple will reside in Bluffton, Ohio. MRS. ED ARNOLD SURPRISED WITH BIRTHDAY DINNER Mrs. Ed Arnold, of Preble, was pleasantly surprised Sunday at her home when relatives gathered with a pot luck dinner, in honor of the celebration of her birthday anniversary. The dinner was served at 12 noon, and a social afternoon fob, lowed. Lunch was served at 4:30* o’clock. Present for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Tom V. Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Arnold, Barbara, Dennis and Ronnie, and Mrs. Richard Arnold and Diane and David,, all of. Decatur; Mr. and Mrs. Roy G. John, Miss Marilyn Arnold, of Fort Wayne; Dick Rowden of Monroe; Mrs. Daisy Decker and John Johnston of Howe; Mr. and Mrs. John Johnston and children of Garrett, and Miss June Johnston of Mishawaka. LOCAL W. C. T. U. MEMBERS ATTEND STATE CONVENTION Five local ladies left today for Bedford, where they will attend the 82nd state W. C. T. U. convention to be held at the Bedford Christian church. The convention opened this morning at 10 a.m., and will last until November 2. Attending from this area are Mrs. John R. Gage, Mrs. I. C. Shady. MISS JANE ELIZABETH ROSS TO WED DONALD LEE SUMAN Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ross of route 5, Decatur, have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their youngest daughi ter, Jane Elizabeth, to Donald Lee Suman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Suman of route 6, Decatur. The couple will exchange vows November 23 in the United Brethren church in Bobo. Miss Ross is a graduate of Plea- : sant Mills high school and is employed by the Wayne Novelty. Her fiance is also a graduate of Pleai sant Mills high school. He is employed at Burk Elevator in Decatur. BRIDE-ELECT IS FETED WITH SURPRISE SHOWER Miss Mary Jane Pancake was guest of honor at a surprise bridal shower given recently at the home of Mrs. Tom Ruble. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Romey Ruble, Miss Ann Ruble and Miss Judy Ruble. The entertaining room was decorated in a yellow and white color scheme, and a decorated umbrella was used as the center piece. Fall flowers were used throughout. Upon her arrival. Miss Pancake was presented with a corsage of white mums. Games were played during the evening, with prizes being won by Mrs. Russell Plumley, Mrs. Therman Ruble, Mrs. Lloyd Mischler and Mrs. Bill Pancake, who in turn presented them to the bride-elect. President- Hazel Schultz conducted a short business meeting, during which the club voted to contribute to the Community Fund. • The plans for the state association of Indiana Emblem clubs will be discussed and voted upon at the next meeting. * After the business session, games were played and prizes were won by Jean Gilliom, Abbie Meyer, and LaVelle Death. The prize for the-‘ i best -dFessed” -was awarded to Helen Howell. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Peg Anderson, Esther Meyer, Grace King and Janice Brand. The next meeting is to be held earlier than originally scheduled, because of Thanksgiving, and will be held November 8. Initiation will be a featured event of the evening, and the group will vote on the state convention. All members are urged to attend this important meeting. „ Hostesses will be Thelma James, Jo Neireiter, Lorena Keller, and Harriet Durkin. The Decatur Camera club will meet at the Youth and Community Center Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock. John Gage will show pictures of foreign countries, and guests are invited.

DEPARTMENTS OF WOMAN’S CLUB TO MEET MONDAY The November meetings of the departments of the Decatur Woman's club will be held Monday evening, starting at 7:30, unless otherwise statedMrs. Glenn Hill, Wonsan’s club president, will be hostess to the Music department. Assisting hostesses will be Mrs. Ed D. Engeler, , Mrs. Clyde Butler and Mrs. Clint ; Reed. The program, “Toscanini, an American Portrait,” will be presented by Mrs. Dan Tyndall. The Literature department will meet that evening with Mrs. Virgil Sexton. Committee in charge of) arrangements consists of Mrs. C. I A. Dugan, Mrs. John Tyndall, and Miss Frances Dugan. The subject matter for the evening will be the life i of Henrik Ibsen. Hostess for the Civic department meeting will be Mrs. Ivan Stucky, with the theme of the meeting being "Know Your America.” Cohostesses for the evening will be Mrs. H. N. Shroll, Mrs. Amos Ketchum, Mrs. N. A. Bixlep, and Mrs. Cletus Miller. Mrs. Reid B. Erekson will entertain the members of the Dramatic department at the Monday night meeting. The program will center around the Civic theater, with Mrs. Randolph Brandyberry as chairman. Mrs. David Heller will assist „ “Art in Our Town,” will be the program presented at the Art department’s meeting, when they meet with Mrs. A. R. Ashbaucher. Chairman is Miss Glennys Roop, and the assisting committee consists of Mrs. Clyde Harris and Mrs. Homer D. Lower. The Junior Women’s department of the Woman’s club will meet at the home of Mrs. Dean Klossner. Travel talks will be presented by Mrs. Harry Houk, and the committee in charge consists of Mrs. William Howell, Mrs. David Embler, Jr., and Mrs. Eugene Chronister. The next general meeting of the Decatur Woman’s club will be held November 12, at which time the Literature department will have charge of the program. The K. of C. auxiliary will have a regular meeting Friday evening at 7:30 o’clock, at the K. of C. hall. The Eagles auxiliary will have a regular meeting Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock at the Eagles hall. A birthday party will follow, and each member is asked to bring a covered dish. The Eagles auxiliary number 2653 is invited to a masked Halloween party at Van Wert, 0., tonight. Mishawaka Cyclist Is Killed By Auto MISHAWAKA. Ind (W) — George C. Eckman, 63, Mishawaka, was killed Monday night when his bicycle was struck by an automobile in U.S. 20 east of here. Police said the car was driven by Charles E. Matherly, 34, Mishawaka.
