Mrs. Chilcote is a graduate of Decatur high school, with the class of 1956, and has been employed by Win Rae Drive-In. Community Center, October 23. Jaralee Magsamen was elected scribe. We decided to cook our supper at the center November 20 after the meeting. Last minute preparations were made for our hayride, which will be held Saturday evening. The meeting was then adjourned- J g Scribe: Jaralee Magsamer Error In Dotes On Gas Company Refund A typographical error occurred in the story in Thursday's edition of the Decatur Daily Democrat concerning the refund being made to patrons of the Northern Indiana public Service, company. The refund checks will cover the period from Feb. 20, 1952, to April 30, 1954, instead of 1942 to 1954 as was stated.

ALTA MAY BROWN WILL MARRY LESTER THATCHER Mr. and Mrs. William H. Clark of route 5, Decatur, have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Alta May (Siders) Brown, to Lester Thatcher, son Qf Mrs: Martha Thatchter of Willshire, Ohio. The couple will be married at 2 o’clock, on the afternoon of December 16, in the Calvary United Brethren church. Officiating for the ceremony will be the Rev. Burton Lange. Mrs. Brown attended Decatur high school, and her fiance is employed by the Krick-Tyndall Co. in Decatur. SUZANNE SELLEMEYER TO WED LAWYER IN DECEMBER Miss Suzanne Sellemeyer will marry John Craig Walker, according to an announcement by the bride-elect’s mother, Mrs. Emil K. Blessing. Sr., of 179 St. Clair, Elkhart. Miss Sellemeyer is the daughter of the late Albert Sellemeyer of Decatur. The groomelect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Walker of Clairmont, Calif. The couple is planning a December wedding. Both Miss Sellemeyer and her fiance are employed in Chicago, she by the Earle Ludgin Advertising agency, and he by the law firm of Hopkins, Sutter Owen, Mulroy and Wentz. The prospective bride is a graduate of Elkhart high school and Northwestern University, where she majored in journalism. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta national sorority, and the Elkhart chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority. Walker graduated- from New Trier high school, Winnetka. 111., Princeton University, and the University of Michigan law school. He is affiliated with Phi Delta Phi fraternity. LADIES SHAKESPEARE CLUB MEETS WITH MISS HELLER Miss Bertha Heller was hostess to the Ladies Shakespeare club Wednesday afternoon. Seventeen members answered roll call. Pennies were collected for the music and art fund. Mrs. Milo Black reviewed “Sand in My’ Eyes,’ by Russell Laune. During the social hour which followed, delicious candies were served by the hostess.

METHODIST CIRCLES MEET WITH MRS. ORVAL FOOR Mrs. Orval Foor was recently hostess to circles one and four of the First Methodist church. Twenty-two members and one guest were in attendance. During the business meeting, it was decided to make mince meat next Tuesday. Plans were also made for the fall festival to be conducted November 14. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Foor. Mrs Mary Ahr, Mrs. Dovie Bedwell, Mrs. Jim Gatshall, Mrs. Tim Sprague and Miss Ivy Gilpen. “HOBO” RUSH PARTY IS HELD BY BETA SIGMA PHI'S Xi Alpha lota and Epsilon Sigma chapters of Beta Sigma Phi held a joint meeting at the Elks home Wednesday evening, featuring a “hobo” style rush party. The program was opened by the introduction of the new rushees to the members. “Hobo” attired rushees attending Jhe party and meeting were Mrs. Bill Howell, Mrs. Cletus Gillman, Mrs. Bill Mansfield, Mrs. Sam Yost, Mrs. Paul Kohne, Mrs. Burl Sphinger, Mrs. Tom Gaunt, Mrs. Jack Baumgartner, Mrs. John Zintsmaster and Mrs. James Cowens. Mrs. Jack Baumgartner was awarded the prize for being “the best dressed hobo," and Mrs. Andy Appelman won the door prize. Typical hobo refreshments were served by the hostesses, who included Mrs. Don Harmon Mrs. Vernon Krugh. Mrs. Bill Schulte, Mrs. Eugene Baker, and Mrs. Anthony Faurote. The Girl Scout leaders club will meet Thursday afternoon at 1.15 o’clock. The Home Demonstration club of Union township will meet Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, at the home of Mrs. Basil Gephart. Mrs. Hugh Nidlinger will be assisting hostess. Election of officers will be featured at this meeting and all members are requested to be president. District Democratic Rally Held Thursday Adams county Young Democratic were represented in a fourth district Democratic parade and rally at Fort Wayne Thursday night. Sheriff Merle Affblder, president of Young Democratic here, was on the committee in charge of aramegements and participated in the parade were Ted Scheiferstein and Wendell Macklin. The local Democratic mascot, a donkey owned by John Kintz, was also taken to Fort Wayne. Dr. Harry’ Hebble and Walter Butcher attended the rally “Which followed the parade at Franke Park. Mary Ellen Haugk Married Recently To Vernon Adams

Miss Mary Ellen Haugk and Vernon Ray Adams were married in a double ring ceremony, performed Saturday evening, October 20, at 6:30 o’clock in the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church. Performing the ceremony was the Rev. William C. Feller. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Haugk of route 2, Berne, and the bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Adams of route 1, Middlepoint, O. The church was beautified with .beauty vases of bronze and white mums, and branched candelabra, holding lighted candles. Miss Carlie Nelson presented a piano musicale preceding the ceremony. Selt lections included “Prayer Perfect,” "Til Walk With God,” and “mi Walk Beside You." A waltz-length gown of arcady blue velvet was worn by the bride. The long torso was fashioned with a scoop neckline and shirred sleeves. A row of self-covered buttons centered down the front. Attending the couple were Miss Nancy Adams, sister of the bride, and Clair Harding, friend of the groom. Miss Adams wore a gown of azure blue, styled similar to her sister’s. Her corsage was of white daisy type mums. Mrs. Haugk wore a navy blue lace dress with matching accessories, and the bridegroom's mother was attired in a brown dress with brown and white accessories. Both wore corsages of bronze mums. Approximately 30 guests attending dinner which was served at the Fairway Restaurant. Mrs. Adams is a graduate of Adams Central high school, and is employed at Haugk’s in Decatur. A grarduate of Hoaglin Jackson High school, her husband is employed at Aero-Quip in Van Wert. Ohio. Following a wedding trip of unannounced destination, the cduple will reside at 123 Sycamore street in Van Wert. Branch Store Opened ' By Holthouse Drug The Holthouse Drug Co. today announced the opening of a branch store at 608 North 13th street, next door to the Gerber supermarket. The new store, to be managed by Herb Banning, will be open seven days a week, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The branch store will feature complete fountain and luncheon service, and will carry complete lines of baby needs, films, school supplies, health needs, candy, paints,_,etc. It was also announced that Decatur’s first postal sub-sta-tion will be opened in the store next Thursday, Nev. 1. A formal grand opening of the store will be held at a future date. Prescriptions will continue to be filled at Holthouse’s downtown store on North Second street. Teachers On Strike In Rio De Janeiro RIO DE JANEIRO (UP)— Some 10,000 primary and high school teachers were on strike in the Rio De Janeiro federal district today in support of their demands for higher pay. The teachers declared their twoday walkout Thursday after turning down last-minute appeals by school administrators and ignoring | a government ruling that the | strike would be illegal.

Reunion Vesper At Lutheran Church he second annual reunion vesper of confirmation classes of the past 10 years will be conducted at Zion Lutheran church, West Monroe street, Sunday evening at 7:30 o'clock. Special invitations have been mailed to all members of junior and adult classes confirmed at Zion’s altar during the past 10 year?, and a roll call of classes will be taken at the service by the Rev. Edgar P. Schmidt, pastor of Zion and liturgist at the service. Speaker at the special vesper will be the Rev. Henry C. Abram, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, route 2, Monroeville. Sponsors of the vesper are members of the church’s young people’s society, the Walther league. Paul Schmidt, president of the local league, is directing the activities, while Jeannine Schultz is in charge of the informal gathering with refreshments to follow the vesper in the parish hall. The public is invited to attend Sunday evening vesper.
