Gas Company Will Pay Rale Refund Decatur Customers Share In Refunds Patrons of the Northern Indiana Public Service company of this area will be among those who will share in refunSs totalling more than one million dollar!. The gas refund checks are currently being mailed to the customers of the Fort Wayne division of NIPSCO. Robert L. Kaade, Fort Wayne division rt®n'a®er* said the refund checks covered the period from Feb. 20. IM2. to April 30. 1954. including interest. The refund was ordered by the Indiana public service commission and affects all customers during the period involved, including heating, cooking gas. commercial and incfustrial customers of the division. Kaade stated that about 57.000 checks would be mailed by Oct. 31. The refund stems' from an order originally issued by the federal power commission ,dlredtinf th<* Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. to refund a certain percentage during the period, involved on the rate it changed the companies which it supplied. Panhandle supplies the gas sold by NIPSCO. During the time Panhandle had its rate case pending before the FPC, they were ordered to set the amount aside in the event the commission failed to approve all of the rate Increase, which it subsequently did. Polling Places To Be Listed Friday The lebal advertisement declaring polling places for the 39 Adams county precincts will appear in the Decatur Daily Demochat Friday. The list will include only one change from voting places in the 1956 primary. The county commissinoners have approved the change of the voting place in East Root precinct from the Dent school house to the restaurant building at Clem's lake in order to make better parking facilities available to the voters. One other change was made at
the primary election last May. Voters in precinct 1-D will go to Faurote’s Body shop in back of the Dinner Bell restaurant on Winchester street. The polling for this precinct was formerly Arnold's Lumber company. Adopt Resolution Honoring Mrs. Sutton At a meeting of the Adams county bar association Wednesday afternoon, local attorneys appointed a committee to draw up a resolution in honor of Mrs. J. C. Sutton, Sr., widow of a former judge of the Adams circuit court. Mrs. Sutton died Tuesday at tfte Adams county memorial hospital after an extended illness. The resolution drawn up by the committee was adopted today at 1:30 p.m. in the court room during special court room services. The resolutions committee was composed of Ed Bose. Henry Heller and . Adams. Following the court room service, the court was closed during the funeral services, which were conducted at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian church. Urges Immunization Against Diphtheria Dr. Norval S. Rich, city health officer, issued a reminder today of the importance of diptheria immunization. He stated that several cases have been reported in the Fort Wayne area and that at least two Decatur people are known to have been, exposed to the disease. He pointed out that the severe suffering caused by the disease can easily be prevented by the immunization shots and added that parents should protect their youngsters by having them immunized. The current increase in reported cases of diptheria indicates an apathy on the part of the people to avail themselves of the protection.
