Don’t any you haven’t been can tloned. Traffic officer James Cochran will start immediately tanning parking violation tickets and each one will cost a dime, if paid within the hour. If paid within 24 hours, the regular >I.OO fine will be imposed and if not paid within 24 hours from date, an arrest warrant will be issued. Strict enforcement is promised, in which law abiding citisens concur. o o— — It is easy to see why Indiana top GOP leaders frown on federal aid. When federal money ia involved in construction work, strict federal laws pertaining to offering and accepting bribes prevail. It would* be not only a short profit but also a short life for the Craig approved Geiger, Sherwood, Sayer toll road crowd and their smelly deals. Why haven’t there been investigations? ——o o v . After publicly accusing Gov. Craig of being Indiana’s worst governor, candidate Handley has crawled in bed with him and holding his nose he has made political love in an effort to win. The good people of Indiana won’t be fooled. Those who vote for Handley are asking for the same contaminated Craig dish for another four years. Heaven forbid! o o. —■ Happy birthday to Cletus Miller and Herman Knapke, Decatur’s well known restaurateurs. The Fairway restaurant is six years old this week, and during that time, it has become favorably known as one of the midwest’s leading eating places, with drawing power of several hundred miles. These two local men and their staff have made eating out a pleasure aad they refuse to stand still as right now they are in the midst of a remodelling program, which, when completed will double the Fairway seating capacity. ——o— —o ' Death has visited Decatur and removed from her large Circle of friends Mra J. ton, Jr. and his family. Mrs. Sutton enjoyed life and she lived it fully. She lived to see her five sons, Alex. Murray, Harry, Jesse and Richard become successful in their chosen fields and while her sons resided at distant points, she kept in close touch with them, and they with her through frequent visits. They, and her many friends will miss her immensely. A lover of flowers her yard was filled with them. To have known Mrs. Sutton was to have gained something in life. We join her host of friends in offering sympathy to the five sons all of whom did many fine things to make her proud and happy during her long life. 0 o McMillen Home Building Corporation of Decatur, held its annual meeting and award party Monday night at the Youth and Community Center. There is a story of love for this Community; respect for fellow workmen and a dream come true, that laboring men and women could have decent modern homes in which to live, behind the McMillen story. Dale W. McMillen, Sr., ‘‘Mr. Mac” to the hundreds of Central Soya employes who know and admire the founder of the concern, had the dream some twenty years ago, that satisfied employes and home owning employes, who had an interest in their community were better employes. This was the start of a building program, under McMillan sponsorship and financ-, ing which has resulted in construction of more than a hundred modern homes here for Soya employes. Mr. Mac has turned the operation of the giant feed mill over to two sons, Harold "Mickey" and Dale Jg. ."Bud’”. WUMhis operation also went management of one of Decatur’s least publicized and most appreciated nonprofit businesses, McMillen Home Building Corporation. Awards are made each year to owners of the homes for upkeep and improvements. On the occasion of their annual meeting, we salute “Mr. Mac” for making come true what many consider his fondest dream, providing homes for his fellow workmen and we likewise pay tribute to the achievements of his sons, Mick and Bud who are constantly following the McMillen pattern of progress and humanitarianism.
