PROCLAMATION TO THE PEOPLE OF DECATUR, INDIANA:' WHEREAS: The city ot Decatur is to be host to the first “annual Adams County Soybean Festival on October 25, 26, and 27 in conjunction with the eighth annual rural-urban fish try. and WHEREAS: because the city of Decatur has been chosen by the Central Soya company, us the aite of the largest single soybean processing plant in the world, and WHEREAS: the soybean farmers of the county are to be recognized by the naming of a soybean king and queen in Decatur, the retail merchants are conducting special soybean bargain days, a soybean ball is planned and the children are to be the guests at two free movies, — ' THEREFORE: I, Robert D. Cole, mayor of Decatur, call upon all of the citizens of Decatur to observe Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 25, 26 and 27, as the first annual Adams County Soybean Festival. man of the board of chief executive officer, it was announced today by the Erie board of directors. The new appointments are effective Nov. 1. Robert E. Woodruff will, retire as chairman but will remain on’tfee board as a director and member of the executive committee. ( Johnston will continue as, chief executive officer until his retirement from active service in July, 1957 under the Erie's 65-year retirement rule. In the meantime, in

addition to his duties as chief executive officer, be will devote a majt>r portion of his time to the Joint operating studies now under way for consolidating facilities with the D. L. & W. as well as details involved in the possible merger being explored by the Erie. Lackawanna and Delaware & Husdon railroads. Following the action of the board. Von Wilier announced other official changes in the Erie organization. including the appointment of Milton G. Mclnnes, now vicepresident — operations, to the newly created position of executive vice-president. David iR- Thompson, now assistant vice-president will move up to vice-president — traffic, to succeed Von Wilier, and Garret C. White, assistant vice-president, will become vice-president — operations, succeeding Mclnnes.
