MRS. GROVER LEVY HOSTESS TO DEMONSTRATION CLUB The Decatur Home Demonstration club met at the home of Mrs. .Grover Levy recently, with 28 members and one guest present. The song of the month was given by Mrs. Henry Adler and the lesson on the “Carpet Story — Eye Appeal” was given by Mrs. Catl Barnett. > Mrs. Levy, outgoing president of the elub, presided over the business meeting, as“ which time a donation was voted to the Community Fund. Mrs. Bart Haley then presented Mrs. Levy with a club pin, from members of the club. Election of officers followed with the following results: president, Mrs. Walter Lister; vicepresident, Mrs. Joseph Hunter; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Charles Beineke; assistant secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Henry Adler; counselor. Mrs. Grover Levy; leaders, Mrs. 0. K. Baker And Mrs. Edna Hammond; alternates, Mrs. Paul Daniels and Mrs. Woodson Ogg. A social hour followed, and refreshments were served by the hostess, who -was assisted by Mrs. Henry Adler, Mrs. Lohnas McIntosh, Mrs. Harve Baker, and Mrs. Robert Witham. The next meeting will he November 21 at the home of Mrs. Witham,* 429 Line street, instead of at ti>e home of Mrs. Gilbert Strikler as was originally scheuied. ADAMS COUNTY LADIES TAKE TRIP TO SMOKY MOUNTAINS 1-ast week 37 ladies speht a three-day sightseeing trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. A scenic tour was made through the Smoky, an,d .the Cherokee Indian Reservation was visited as well as Cumberland Falls. Lexington, Ky M was the second overnight stop and from here they visited Cllfty Falls before returning to Adams county. FRIEDHEIM ADULT CLUB OBSERVES ANNIVERSARY The Adult club of Zion Lutheran church of Friedheim, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a program in the school. All former members of the Adult club were invited as special guests for the evening. The celebration was opened with group singing “The Lord Hath Helped Us Hitherto". Charles Stoppenhagen, one of the charter members of the organization, served as master of ceremonies. The polcome address was given by Alfred Buuck, president. Speaker for the evening was the ftev. Henry Abram, pastdr of St. John’s Lutheran church at Flat Rock. His topic was “Our Shoulders and His Load". A quartet consisting of Alfred Buuck, Gerhart Buuck, Marvin Conrad and Gerhart Heckman presented special music. (Remarks were given by the Rev. E. B. Poch, Paul Buuck, Adolph Poch and Erwin Buuck. History of the club was given by Mrs. Harold Schnepp. Congratulatory messages from former pastors were read by Mrs. Arthur Koeneman. The closing address was given by the Rev. A. A. Fenner, pastor of Zion Lutheran church. Mrs. Arthur Koeneman and Mrs. Charles Stoppenhangen served refreshments of punch, sandwiches, cake, mints and coffee from a table with lip«n

The DAV auxiliary is sponsoring a rummage and bake sale Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The bake sale will be conducted at the Western Auto store, and the rummage sale will take place at the DAV hall. Mrs. Roy Price will be hostess to the St. Mary’s Jolly Housewife home demonstration club, Tuesday evening at 7: 3<F p.m. All members are urged to attend. A seven pound, nine ounces son was born at l:sUium, -today, to Eugene and Nora Ray Ziner of 733% High street. Frank and Virginia Snavely Muhlenkamp of Bryant, became parents this morning at 3 o'clock, of a baby girl, weighing six pounds and 15 ounces. (UP) — Mrs. Dorothy Crawley, 43, Greencastle, died today in Putnam county hospital from injuries sustained last Friday when fumes from an underground gasoline tank exploded at a filling station, killing one man and injuring two others. Donald E. Chaltey, 32. Indianapolis, died at the same hospital a few hours after the explosion. Mrs. Crawley’s husband. Eugene was listed in fair condition. A third man, Raymond Murray, Indianapolis, was treated and released.

Ossian, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, October 7, with a family dinner. The couple was married October 6, in the Methodist church parsonage in Decatur, with the Rev. G. C. White officiating. They children, who include Kenneth Wolfe of Yoder, Roy Wolfe of Fort Wayne, Luvere Wolfe of Yoder, Andrew Wolfe of Kokomo, Don Wolfe of Hudson, and Mrs. Earl Myers of Tocsin. They also have 15 grandchildren aid one great-grandchild.

Girl Scout News Girl Scout troop 5 met at the Lincoln school. The following officers were elected: president, Margaret Azbell; vice president, Janet Baker; treasurer, Diana Debolt; secretary, Ann (Rosenberger; scribe, Donna Shoaf. A treat was served by the leader and the meeting closed with singing “Thanks and praises." Brownie troop number 7 met at the St. Joseph Catholic school Tuesday after school. The meeting was opened with the Brownie promise and we had election of officer an follow's; president, Diane Gilpen; treasurer, Jane Baker; scribe, Karla Sieling. Roll was called and dues were collected. We received permission slips for the round-up this Saturday. After singing many songs, we closed the meeting with the Good Night Brownies song.
