MISS BARBARA JEAN HELLER TO WED ALAN DALE BAKER October 20- is the date that has been chosen by Miss Barbara Jean Heller for her marriage to Alan Dale Baker. Miss Heller is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Heller of 641 North Second street, and her fiance is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Baker of St. Johns, Mich. The Rev. W. C. Feller will officiate for the double, ring ceremony, to be performed that afternoon, at 2:30 o’clock. In the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church. The bride-elect is a recent graduate of Decatur high school. A graduate of St. Johns high school. St. Johns, Mich.. Baker also attended Michigan fltate University. OPENING OF WOMAN’S CLUB AND OFFICERS ANNOUNCED “Education for Worth xVhile Living” is the theme of the 1956-57 club season of the Decatur Woman’s club, which will be formally opened with a dinner meeting at the Youth and Community Center Monday evening at 6:30 o’clock. The executive committee, consisting of chairmen and officers of the. various departments, is in charge of this social event, and' entertainment will be provided by* Robert Cocherille, well-known vocalist from Fort Wayne, and a girls’ concert trio. Mrs. Glenn Hill is president of the Decatur Woman’s club, and assisting her as first vice-president will be Miss Glennys Roop. SeconcT vice-president is Mrs. Clyde Butler. Mrs. Randolph Brandyberry and Mrs. Fred Meier are secretary and treasurer, respectively, and the past president is Mrs. Roy Kalver. The Decatur Woman’s club consists of eight separate departments, which include Music, Art. Literature, Dramatic, Civic, Junior Women, Junior Arts, and Associate departments. Chairman of the music depart* ment is Mrs. William C. Feller, and vice-chairman is Mrs. Harry D. Dailey. Miss Alice Roth will serve as secretary-treasurer, and fines secretary is Mrs. Jethro B. Sprunger. Historian for the group is Mrs. L. A. Holthouse. Mrs. A. R. Ashbaucher is the ehairman of the art department, with Mrs. Leo Curtin serving as vice-chairman. MISS CATHERINE HABEGGER FETED WITH BRIDAL SHOWER Miss Catnerine Habegger, October 14 bride-elect of Mac Smith, was guest of honor at a bridal shower, given for her Tuesday evening, at the home of John Christener, Jr., with Mrs. Marvin Tkylor and Miss Marjorie Becker as hostesses. Games were played and prizee were won by Diane Liechty. and Nancy Shoaf, who is turn presented them to the honored guest. The gift table was accented by blue and pink streamers entending from the ceiling. After Miss Habegger opened her many gifts, refreshments were served to the Mesdames Chester Habegger. Tommy Shaadt, Godfrey Smith, John Chrietener, Jr., Savilla Habegger, and Raymond Becker, Sr., and the Misses Donna Habegger, Bertella Alt, Joyce Lehman. Sandra Striker. MUSIC DEPARTMENT IN OPENING FALL MEETING Nineteen members of the Music department of the Decatur Woman's club held their opening de» partmental meeting Monday evening, at the home of Mrs. William C. Feller. Two new members. Mrs. Clint Reed and Mrs. Stuart Brightwell, were welcomed into the organization by itfrs. Feller, who is chairman. Mrs. Walter Krick, program chairman, spoke on “Music in American Life.” *> Lovely refreshments were served by the hostess, who was assisted by Mrs. Edgar Gerber and Mrs. Krick. VFW LADIES AUXILIARY HAS COMBINED MEETING MONDAY The VFW r Ladies Auxiliary held a combined social and business meeting at the V. F. W. home Monday evening. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Catherine Birch, senior-vice Audrey Ballard conducted the meeting. The group decided to have a hospital party January 29 at the Fort Wayne VA hospital. Glenys Martz also reminded the auxiliary of the supper to be held at the VFW home on October 29. Mrs. Audrey Ballard reported on the red stamp project, and members were asked to turn as many in as they possibly can. The fourth district president will be at the next meeting, to be held October 15, and all officer and color bearers are requested to be present. After the~meeting, a sociaT hour was enjoyed and delicious refreshments were served by Laura Haggard. ZION LUTHER.-N ADULT CLUB TO OPEN FALL SEASON Mr. and Mrs. Earl Caston will be hosts to the Zion Lutheran Adult club, Sunday evening at 8 o'clock, at their home on Winchester Road. INDIANA FEDERATION OF CLUBS HAS CONVENTION The 49th convention of the eighth district of the Indiana Federation of clubs wa« held at Anderson recently. Principal speakers were I.F.C. presdent, Mrs. H- L. Smith, of Bloomington; first vice-president of 1.F.C., Mrs. Oscar Brizius »f Newberg; and third vice-president and junior director, Mrs. David Martin. HOME DEMONSTRATION COUNCIL IN ELECTION Election of officers for 1957 featured the meeting of the Adams county home demonstration council Tuesday. Officers for the coming year are presdent, Mrs. R. C. Hersh; first vice president, Mrs. Dan Striker; second vice-president, Mrs. Dale Moses; secretary, Mrs. Noah L. Habegger; assistant secretary, Mrs. Ralph Bluhm; and treasurer, Mrs. John Leyse. Twenty-three members of the home demonstration council went to Muncie for their fall meeting. A tour of the campus was followed by lunch in the Ball Memorial student union. In the afternoon the women toured the art museum and the Marhoeffer packing house in Muncie, D. A. V. AUXILIARY HAS RECENT MEETING The local D.A.V. auxiliary held their social meeting of the month recently at the D.A.V. hall. Games were played and prizes were won by Esther Ray, Martha Sommers. Betty Linkham served refreshments to the members present, and the door prize was won by Esther Ray.
