On 'P r I d a /, September 28, the “Mighty .Jackets” came through with another victory —I thia time agalnati the PortlandPanthers. T h e Jackets made two touchdowns in tjie well-play j

ed game, one in insi quarter, followed by one ip the early part of ;he second quarter. For the first time In many years the large crowd of Jacket fans at the game saw a safety, made by Decatur. Later in the game the Panthers brought the ball to the two-yard line, but they were unable to score. Everyone here at D.H.13. wants to congratulate our team and'wish them victories in their remaining three games. —D.H.S.— The junior senior choir is work--ing hard every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday in preperation for two up-coming appearances. On October 22, the choir will sing for spiritual emphasis Week at the First Methodist church. Then on November 9, they will sing in the annual open-house program here at the high school. —D.H.S.— Tuesday D.H.S. was privileged to hear a very interesting assembly program by Robert T. Edgar on the subject of space travel. Ed-

gar showed many pictures of the huge Mt. Palamar telescope and pictures of several planets. He also show us a space suit and gave us an idea of what a trip into space would be like. —D.H.S — Thanks sophs’ for the nice dance last Friday night. The name, “SoI phomore Send-Off”, was certainly appiropriate since It was the Jacket’s last home game of the sea- | son. The decorations were very clever and the large crowd was wonderful, too. We hope that the large crowds will continue throughout the remainder of the year. —D.H.S.— f The advanced art class has been working dilligently on posters, which are to be used for the upcoming Community fund drive. The posters will be placed In local store windows after October 8. —D.H.S.This years Ravelings staff has had two meetings since school be- , gan and they are now rolling right along in preparation for the ’57 year book. This defeat, by Hartford City 14 to 7, snapped a six-game winning streak for Decatur. The Hartford City team has had only one ' loss in three years, and that loss was to Decatur, when they were beaten 14 to 12 last year. Goodluck fresh.—sophs.’ in your remaining garnets. —D.H.S.— The D.H.S. band presented another fine demonstration last Friday night before the DecaturPortland football game. The title of ' this demonstration was “The story ' of little Chief One Feather", and ’ was very well given. The junior 1 band also appeared in this demonstration. —D.H.S — The oross«country team was i defeated last Thursday afternoon t in a triple-meet. The other teams • participating were Berne and Moni mouth. ‘ —D.H.S.— For the next few weeks when you see a senior heading in the direction of Anspaugh’s studio or Edwards' studio, don’t ask them why they are hurrying. It’s for a simple reason — they are getting their pictures taken. Yes! pictUretaking time is here again and everyone is trying to look his best. Last wedk the underclassmen had their pictures taken and now it is the senior's turn. Just think seniors, this is the last year that you will have your pictures taken for high school!!!!! —D.H.S.— Correction: In last weeks* column, Dave Butcher’s name was missed from the list of the members of the cross-country team. Sorry Dave! —D.H.S. — . The freshmen-sophomore team did it again!!!! Monday night they defeated the Bluffton fresh.soph. team 46-12. Congratulation! —D.H.S.— Tomorrow night the Yellow Jackets will play the Bluffton Tigers at Bluffton. Be sure to go and cheer for the Winning — the Jackets.
