PSI IOTA XI PRESENTS FALL STYLE SHOW TUESDAY The Youtn and Community Center could -have been tagged the ••Fashion Center of the Middlewest" Tuesday night, as 47 local models paraded before a capacity crowd, in their presentation of the Psi lota XI/all style show, "FAII Fashion Leaves." Typical fall flowers, in varying shades of yellow, gold, rust, bronze, and brown were used as floral decorations, with the setting at the front of the ramp being a fall garden. Sprigs of bitter sweet encircled the edge of the "I” shaped ramp, and deep maroon maple leaf branches were placed at either side of the front runway. Mrs. Sherman Stucky of Berne, set the mood with appropriate organ music throughout the evening, and the entire program was narrated by Mrs. Louis Jacobs. The first group of models show'ed wearing apparel for every occasion from tots to teens; what the young miss or master would wear for school, a hayride, football or basketball games, or for play or school time. Models in this sequence included Mike and Lis Terveer, Sandra Moore, Scott Schnepf, Christine Mutschler, Jeri Lu Locke. Selections included "Autumn Leaves," and “September Song." She was accompanied by Mrs. Stucky at the organ. Group two depicted what mademoiselle and the junior miss would choose for the proper occasion, including appropriate styles for luncheons, bridge parties, teas, Center dances, and the ever present dates. Modeling in this series were Sandra Mutschler, Shirley Lehman. Jean Bower, Annabelle Heller, Liz Rich, Judy Lane, Sunya Stucky, Susan Heller. Joan Keller. Mary Jane Clark, Colleen Howell, Pat Zintsmaster, Cecil Krick, Alice Harmon, Helen Baughman, Janice Voshell, Virginia Vetter, and Helen Hau bold. Coats for teen-timers and myladies wardrobe were shown in the third group, along with dresses suitable for every occasion — casuals, smart sheaths, and all the strictly new fall fashions. These were modeled by Sandra Mutschler, Jean Bower, Annabelle Heller, Joan Keller, Liz (Rich. Mary Jane Clark, Colleen Howell, Pat Zintsmaster, Cecil Krick. Alice Harmon, Judy Brodbeck, Helen Baughman, Carol Seitz, Gretchen Snyder,

Nancy and Leonida Mies, Barbara Suttles and Helen Haubold. Following the grand finale, several door prizes were awarded. Individual favors were also distributed to each of the guests attending. Mrs. Betty McNerny, president of the Alpha Delta chapter of Psi lota Xi, was introduced to the group by Mrs. Jacobs. She briefly voiced her thanks to the many people and concerns who helped to make the show a reality. Co-chairmen of this year’s successful “Fall Fashion Leaves’’ were Mrs. Larry Anspaugh and Mrs. Paul Hancher. In charge of tickets was Mrs. Gene Rash, and Mrs. Harry Schwartz headed the committee on door prizes. Co-chair-men of the decorations tor the show were Mrs. David Embler, Jr., and Mrs. Ted Hill, while the program committee was headed by Miss Alice 'Roth. Local stores participating in last night's show were the E. F. Gass store, Lord’s, Blackwell's Department store, the Kiddie Shop, and Niblick’s. The lawn furniture used in the garden scene was provided by. Holthouse furniture, and the organ was used through courtesy of the Decatur Music house. It is planned to make this style show an annal event. “WELCOME HOME" PARTY GIVEN FOR CARL JOHNSON Carl D. Johnson of this city, who was recently discharged from the U. S. marines, was surprised with a “welcome home" dinner last Sunday. Host and hostess for the event were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hunziker of Willishire, O. _ Those present were the honored guest and his wife. Jerry; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Lilliae and children of Pontiac, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gantz, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hirschy and children, Mrs. Josephine Baumgartner, Mt. and Mrs. Charles Johnson and son, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Royer and children. ARTS DEPARTMENT HAS PROGRESSIVE DINNER PARTY A progressfve dinner party was featured at the opening meeting of the Junior Arts department of the Decatur Woman’s club; held Mondayevening. The girls met at the home of Miss Janalee Smth, where they were served hors d’eouvres. Miss Smith was assisted by Miss Judy Lane. Miss Marjorie Kohne was the hostess for the second course.

Hersh, Glenn Hill, and the advisors, Mrs, Frances Howell, Mrs. Reid Erek.-on, Mrs. William Gass, and Mrs. Ray Walther. “CARPET STORY" PRESENTED AT ROOT TWP. MEETING “The Carpet Story” (part A) was the lesson presented by the leader, Mrs. Harold Owens, at the September meeting of the Root township home demonstration club meeting, held Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lae Fleming. Samples of carpets and carpet padk were shown and many interesting and useful suggestions were presented by the leader. Mrs. Mary Jane Runyon, president. opened the meeting, after which roll was called, with each of the members answering with a sew-ing hint. The safety lesson on “burns’’ was given by Mrs. Royal Friend, and the meeting was closed by repeating the club creed. Mrs. Otto Spiegel won the door prize. (Refreshments were served by the hostess, who was assisted by Mrs. Omer Merriman and Mrs. Jesse Singleton. There were 26 members and two children present for the meeting. Mrs. Robert Carr will be hostess to the October meeting, instead of Mrs. Russell Fleming, as was originally scheduled. Assisting hostesses for this meeting will be Mrs. Gus Bohnke and Mtb. Adolph Weidler. There will be a bulb exchange featured at this meeting, and election of officers will be conducted. FAITHFUL FOLLOWERS MEET FOR WEINER ROAST The Faithful Followers of Mt. Pleasant met recently at the Everett Singleton home, -for a weiner roast. The business meeting was called to order by the president. Roger Singleton. As the members of the class were gathered around the fire, plans were made for the forthcoming rally day, to be October 7. The Decatur Weight Watchers club will have a meeting next Tuesday evening, at the public library at 8 o’clock. The K. of C. auxiliary will meet at the K. of C. hall Friday evening at 8 o’clock. Hostesses will be Miss Rose Steigmeyer, Mrs. -Herman Colehin, Mrs. John Schurger, and Mrs. Richard Geimer. All ladies of the K. of C. are invited to attend. Another Girl Scout Leadership Training course will be conducted’ at the Youth and Community center. Tuesday afternoon, from 1 un-1 til 3 o’clock. The Dramatic department of the Decatur Woman's club will have a dinner meeting Manday evening at 6:30 o’clock at' the home of Mrs. Nilah Neil. Mrs. William C. Feller will.be hostess to the members of the Music department of the Decatur Woman's club, Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock. Assisting hostesses will «be Mrs Edgar Gerber and Mrs. Cecil Krick. The Guardian Angel study club will meet at 8 o’clock Thursday nighs at the home of Mrs. Andy Appelman. The Bethany Circle of the Zion E. and R. church will meet with Mrs. Calvin Yost. Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock. Mrs. Vernon Hill, will be hostess to the Ladies Fireman’s auxiliary, Monday evening at 8 o’clock. The Our Lady of Fatima Study club will meet Monday evening at 8 o’clock, at the home of Mis. Cletus Gillman. The Gals and Pals home demonstration club will'meet at the Pleasant Mills school, Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock. Members are asked to come masked. The meeting will feature election of officers, and everyone is urged to be present.

Sam Bailer of this city, is a patient at the St. Joseph hospital in Fort Wayne. He underwent a major operation Tuescay, and his condition is considered satisfactory. While visiting here, they attended the 50th wedding anniversary cele. bration of Mrs. Koldewey's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Griffiths. Mrs Elmer Uhrick of 13th street, has been admitted to the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne, for observation. Her room number is 469.

At the Adams county memorial hospital: Jack and Martha Zuercher Sehug, of Huntington are the parents of a baby boy. born Tuesday at 2:51 p.m., weighing six pounds and 14 ounces. Twin daughters were born Tuesday afternoon to Doyle and Vivian Beam Painter, of Decatur. The first little girl was born at 4:12 o’clock, and weighed five pounds and six ounces, and the second one was born at 4:17 o’clock, weighing six pounds and three and onehalf ounces. A baby girl was born this morning at 7:30 o'clock to Richard and Colleen Clauser Lehman of Berne, weighing seven pounds and ten ounces.

Soybean Prices Near Average Loan Rate LAFAYETTE, Ind (UP) — W. S. Farris, a Purdue University agricultural economist,' said today he believes soybean prices will average near the loan rate of $2.15 a bushel this season. Farris said some price Increase is indicated after the low point at harvest. But the increase probably will not be as spectacular as last season.
