HERE ARE two views of that tricky Suez canal, which seasoned pilots claim takes two years to learn. Photos were made from deck of the U. S. President Grant Upper: Down a stretch like this the pilot must allow for deepening of the ship’s draft at the stern, caused by speed through the water. In case of emergency he must be able to halt the ship gradually and be on lookout for steni wash, which might overtake the ship and swivel it broadside. Must Not Exceed Wheat Allotments Wheat producers are warned that if the wheat acreage exceeds the allotment by as much as one tenth (0.1) acres, this will be considered as excess wheat, according to Oscar T. Brown, chairman of the Adams county agricultural stabilization and conservation committee. Producers interested in price support and acreage reserve should check the seeded wheat acreage very carefully in order to avoid the seeding of excess wheat. Brown also stated that this reg ulation will also apply to the 1957 measured corn acreages. A producer may seed 15 acres of wheat for harvest, however, if the 15 acres is exceeded, the marketing quota penalty will be determined from the allotment instead of the 15 acres. Aluminum is the most plentiful non-ferrous metal In the world. It represents one eighth of t h e earth's crust, but is so Intricately concealed that its existence eluded scientists until it was discovered in 1807 by Sir Humphrey Davy, British electro-chemist. Davy named his discovery “alumipm."- The name was later changed to aluminium (which it is still called in .most parts of the world) and in the United States later changed to aluminum.
