Marilyn Roop Is V/ed Saturday To Dee Myron Byerly Miss Marilyn Sue Roop and Hee Myron Byerly exchanged nuptial vows in an impressive double ring ceremony performed Saturday evening, at 6:30 o’clock in the Trinity Evangelical. The vows were exchanged before an altar adorned with large - beauty vases of, bronze gladioli, Two large baskets of autumn colored gladioli and fugii Tnuins we ye placed at the front of the church. Organ selections included “O Promise Me,” “Indian Love Call,” "At Dawning.” and “I Love You Truly’ was softly played during the ceremony. Vocal selections were "Walk Hand in Hand,” "The Lord’s Prayer,’’and “Because.” Escorted to the altar by her brother-in-law, Robert N. Pond, the bride appeared in a gown of white satin, designed with an overshirt of nylon tulle. Her princess styled bodice was fashioned with a Sabrina neckline and the long, tapering sleeves of her gown formed points over her hands. The neckline and helmline were accented by small appliqued flowers and seed pearls. Her bridal veil of imported silk Tllustion w-as caught to a crown of chantilly lace, studded with seed pearls and sequins. Si he carried a white Bible, which was topped with a cascade arrangement of white fugii mums, centered with a white orchid and surrounded■ by angel feathers and green foliage. Maid-of-honor was Miss Karen Snyder, and bridesmaid was Mrs. Jon Waugh. Their gowns were of coral and yellow crystallette. (respectively. They were styled along the princess line, with full skirts of deep«in*t*ted and the bodices were fashioned with a low V neckline. Large bows complemented the back of the dresses. The attendants both wore headbands corresponding to the color of their gowns, and wore white accessories. They ..carried identical floral arrangements of bronze
fugii mums. Little Miss Linda Rich, was flower girl, and David Baughn was ding bearer. They are niece and -nephew of the pride. The flower girl wore a gown of turquoise crystallette with white lace around the neck and sleeves. Small coral and yellow wood-pulp flowers were scattered on the bodice and full skirt of the dress. She carried a basket of fall mums. Best man was Walt Osterpian, and ushers were Kenneth Baumgartner and Joe Mann. Mrs. Byerly attended her son's wedding in a blue taffeta dress and jacket, styled with Dior lines. She wore whte accessories and a corsage of autumn fugii mums. Immediately following the cermoqy. a reception was given for the couple, in the basement of the church. The serving table was covered with a white table cloth, .accented by pink and yellow bows. A five tiered wedding cake was placed on the center of the table, with lighted candles on either side. Fall flowers were used throughout, Approximately 2W) guests were served by Mrs. Dale Bochrane and Miss Barbara Bowen of Celina, 0., and Miss Carol Egley. When the young couple left for a southern wedding trip, Mrs. Byerly was wearing a turquoise knit suit, with black accessories and the orchid from her bridal bouquet. Mrs. Byerly attended Decatur high school, and is a graduate of Celina high school. She is employed in the office of the Schafer Wholesale Co. in Decatur. A graduate of Adams Central high school, her husband -Js employed at the Coop Lumber Co., in Monroe. z The couple will reside on route 4, -Decatur. BARBARA BOLLINGER WED TO ARTHUR J. DAWSON Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bollinger of 219 Grant street, have announced the Saturday evening marriage of their daughter. Barbara Jean, to Arthur J. Dawson, also of this city. The couple was married in a sto-gie-ring ceremony, performed that evening at 6 o’clock in the parsonage of the First Baptist church, with the Rev. Stuart Brightwell officiating. Attendants for the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Raudenbush. Mr. and Mrs. Dawson are now residing at 605 Nuttman avenue. MISS CAROLYN SUE MEYER TO WED MAX EUGENE CASE The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Miss Carolyn Sue Meyer. to Max Eugene Case, has been made known by the bride-elect’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Meyer of 916 High Street. Her fiance is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Case of Willshire, O. Miss Meyer is a graduate of Decatur Catholic high school, and is a secretary for Hubert R. McClenahan. attorney. A graduate of Pleasant Mills high school, the bride-groom-elect is employed at International Harvester in Fort Wayne. The young couple has chosen October 5 as their wedding day, and they will be married that evening at 7 o’clock, in the rectory of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. ROSE GARDEN CLUB HOST TO “FRIENDSHIP PARTY” The Rose Garden club held their “friendship party” in the auditorium of the public library. Saturday afternoon. The- Decatur Garden club members were guests, and each member of the Rose Garden club also brought a guest. The welcoming address was given by Mrs. Stuart Brightwell. Mrs. Clarence Muelier, district president, and Mrs. Charles Forbes, district chairman, were present for the meeting, and each gave short talks. “The Meaning of Friendship” and “In a Friendly Sort of Way" were two Tradings presented by Mrs. Gerald Durkin. Mrs. Brightwell then introduced Mrs. Edgar Gerber and Miss Margrel Lissner. who presented a program of music. Vocal selections included “Thank Cod’ for a Garden." “Do You Know My Garden?" and “Garland of Old-fashioned Roses.* Mrs. Gerber, who presided at the organ, favored tije group with a lovely musical arrangement 6f "Autumn.” After two library films were shown by Wayne Frauhiger, floral arrangements and table displays were shown. Mrs. Yoder, president of the Decatur Garden club, was introduced to the which refreshments were served. Mrs. Bert Haley and Mrs. Paul Daniels presided at the tea table. The Delta Theta -Tau pledge picnic has been changed from Tuesday night, to Wednesday night, in order that the members way attend the Psi Ote "Fall Fashion Leaves' at the Youth and Community Center. Mrs. Kenneth Arnold will be hostess for this meeting, to begin at 6:30 o'clock.

Tickets may also be purchased at the door Tuesday evening. The style show will be staged at the Youth and Community Center tomorrow evening, beginning at 8 o’clock. A musical program, by Miss Evelyn Miller, a vocalist from Berne, will be presented mid-way during the showing of new fall apparel. Individual favors and door prizes will be awarded during the evening. Mrs. Bill Howell has been selected to niodel for the E. F. Gass store, along with those already announced, and a new model for the Kiddie shop will be Sandra Moore. Co-chairmen of the event are Mrs. Paul Hancher and Mrs. Larry Anspaugh. MRS. LAURA DURKIN IS HOSTESS TO MEETING The Pleasant Mills Methodist W. S. C. S. met recently at the home of Mrs. Laura Durkin. Mrs. R. H. Everett gave the devotions and the lesson on “The Spirit of Christ—for All of Life.” Prayer was-offered by Mrs. Harlan Jones, after which a special, “Does it Pay?” was presented by Mrs. Elmer Gulliff. Mrs.- Myrtle Blowers was a guest at the meeting. Refreshments were served to the 14 members and two children present. by Mrs. Donald Everett, Mrs. Laura Durkin and Mrs. Addie Kahnert. The Kum Join Us class will have a picnic at the state park at Bluffton, Tuesday evening. Members are asked to meet at the church at 6 p.m. The -D.A.V. auxiliary will meet Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock, for a social meeting. Mrs. Leonard Schwallfer will be hostess to -the St. Ambrose study club, Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock. The Ruth and Naomi circle of the Zion E and R church will meet with Mrs. Rufus Kirchofer Wednesday noon. The Emblem club will have a carry-in supper at the Elks home. The Olsons have just moved into their new home at 916 West Madison Avenue, in LaGrange. Mrs. Minnie Teeple spent last week with her grandson, Tom Teeple, and family. While there, they attended the Bluffton street fair. Miss Dorcas Louise Suman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otho Suman, 1209 West Adams street, has enrolled in Olivet Nazarene College at Kankakee, 111. Says Adults Soon To Obtain Polio Shots WASHINGTON (UP) — Marion B. Folsom, secretary of health, education and welfare, predicts that adults soon will be able to obtain Salk polio vaccine shots. Folsom said on a television program Sunday (Youth Wants to Know, NBC) that most states now have enough supplies to innoculate people up to the age of 20. As production continues, he said, there will be supplies for adults. Folsom also said that incomplete reports on polio cases in the current disease year tend to last year’s conclusion that the vaccine is 78 per cent effective. Hammond Man Dies As Train Hits Car HAMMOND. Ind. (UP) — Joseph Fuqua, 29, Hammond, was killed today when an Erie Railroad train demolished his car at a city crossing. Fuqua was on his way to work in Gary. A witness said he ignored a fiashfer signa!. Authorities said the engineer did not know he hit the ca v until he stopped the train at Erie yards outside Hammond.

Donna Schieferstein Married Saturday To Ellis E. Shookman The St. John’s Lutheran church near Decatur was the scene of the Saturday marriage of Miss Donna Mae Schieferstein and Ellis Edgar Shookman. The double ring ceremony was performed at 2:30 o’clock that afternoon, by the Rev. Edwin Jacob. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs: Ed Schieferstein of route 1, Decatur, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Pumphrey of 1235 W. Wayne street, Fort Wayne. Beauty vases of* fall colored flowers formed the backround for the pledging of the nuptial vow's. Preceding the ceremony, a 15minute musicale was presented by W. E. Uffelman. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a gown featuring an empire walttline. The fitted bodice of chiffon velveteen
was designed witli a V neckline, and the long tapering sleeves end ed in point over her hands. Her very bouffant skirt of bracaded taffeta ended in a chapel length train. Her finger-ip veil of imported illusion fell from a crown of seed pearls, and she carried an arrangement of white roses, centered with a purple orchid. Miss Alice Fleming of Minne apolis, Minn., friend .of the bride, served as maid-of-honor in a bal eriha length gowu of gold crystdllet. She carried aeqllection of fall flowers, interspersed with mums. Serving as best man was Robert Rockey, and guests were seated by Richard and Harold Schieferstein, both brothers of the bride. A toast colored, lace dress was worn* by Mrs. Schieferstein. She completed her ensemble with brown accessories and wore a corsage of yellow roses. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a navy blue sheath dress, with which

she wore rose colored accessories, and a corsage of pink roses. Approximately 150 guests were served at the wedding dinner which was served ’at the Decatur Youth and Community Center at 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon. The gold theme Was carried on"t in the decorations of the dining room. The guests were served by the Missed Violet Sheets, Marcella Thieme, Gretchen Thieme, Joan Fleming, Anita Mailand, Kathleen Scheumann. Virginia Gerke, and Evelyn Getting, and Mrs. Clarence Getting and Mrs. Henry Getting. Following a one wwek’s wedding trip to the east coast, the young couple will reside at 810 West Wayne street. Fort Wayne. The bride is a graduate of Monmouth high school and attended Purdue Universty. She was employed as apprentice home monstration agent for Adams county, during the past summer.
