Increase Welfare Aid For Hoosiers Take Advantage Os Amendments To Act INDIANAPOLIS (UP) — Indiana’s aged and dependent children will receive more welfare aid, effective Oct. 1. Governor Craig Wednesday approved a move by the Indiana department of public welfare to take advantage of more aid under congressional amendments to the federal social security acts. The maximum for old age assistance was increased from $55 to S6O a month. Needy guardians of dependent children will receive a maximum of $32 a month for the first child and $22 each for additional children. Previous maximums were S3O and S2O, respectively. Congress had not passed amendments to the act when the 1955 legislature adjourned.
