•; ■ ' day School Lesson. The Kingdom Triumphant, Revelation 7:9-17, for .Sunday, September 23. John continues to speak through visions, ever keeping in mind his fellow suffereds who were called on to meet most severe persecutions. He holds out the fact that faithful there Is a coming indescribable victory. Their hope and our hope is in Christ, the consequeror. through whom his faithful followers will be led to God on his throne, before whom the saved of ail time, with the holy angels, shall fall down and worship with great rejociing. V. 9. “After this I beheld and. 10. a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindred, and people, and tongues, stood before ths throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white raiments and palms in their hands.” To those in great persecution. tn fact to all God's children. and especially to the aged, ionely. suffering Christians, here is a picture of things to come that will give courage in the hour | of trial. There will be a great company .and among them our friends — all clothed with the garments of God's righteousness, forever celebrating triumph and i victory through Jesus Christ. V. 10. “And chied with a loud J voice, saying. Salvation to our God which sittetb on the throne, and unto the Lamb.” Salvation of our souls is a gift given all penitents who have received forgiveness through God's gift of his only Son. onr Lord and Saviour. Salvation on earth means salvation beyond. V. 11 "And all the angels stood i round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshiped God.” Since there is joy among the angels when a‘soul on edrth is converted, the angels participate in the final triumph of the saved. The four elders are representatives of the church. The four beasts (living creatures! may represent the creation. One thing that will .be in heaven s program is that of worship. Those who do not truly worship God here would not feel at . home in heaven. V. 12. “Saying Amen: Blessing and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and houour, and power, and might, be unto our God forever and forever.” When the vocabulary is exhausted in an attempt to deserible God, we conclude that He is beyond description. Then, howwondtous to think the saved can say. “Our God,” which is a result of having truly said, “Our Father which art in heaven!” This is not a momentary experience but a growing and eternal one. No one can afford to miss it here and now. V. 13. “And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these that are arrayed In white robes and whence came 1 they?” The word "answered” means “spoke.” The question is here asked that the proposer may have an oppportunlty to answer.— Clarke. > V. 14. “And I said unto him, Sir. thou knowest. And he said unto me. These are they which have come out of great tribulation and have washed their robes and made them bright in the blood of the Lamb.’ No man has a righteousness of his own. but Christ's righteousness, wrought in the soul of ' a believer, who has surrendered

his sins and himself to the *lll of God. There is action on the part of man and reaction on the of God which results in a uew creature in Christ. V. 15. "Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in the tempi*; and be that sitteth on the throne sholl dwell among them.” “Therefore indicates that the work of God in transformation haa been done. Hare is another suggestion of heaven's program, namely, service. We must wait we get there to know what service it is. Our God is not a far-off God for he shall dwell with his children forever. In a sense, God is present with us hare, but in a greater sense, then. V. 17. “For the Lamb which Is the midst of the throne shall feed them and shall lead them to living fountains of water and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” There they shall not be in want of any thing.— The Rev.
