Princess Grace And Prince In States / Royal Newlyweds ; Arrive For Visit* / NEW York (ITF> — A radiant and relaxed Princess Grace of Monaco arrived today with bar bridegroom. Prince Rainier HI for a six-week visit and aaid “it's wonderful” to be home. The royal newlyweds obviously were happy as they talked to reporters aboard the liner United States before it docked at 8 a. m. The baby they expect early in February was their favorite topic of conversation, as with any expectant parents. Their only disagreement so far. the prince confided with a grin, has been over a name for the hoped-for heir to the throne of his 270-acre principality. "We’ve decided on about three different names.” the former movie actress Grace Kelly said. "We change them so often that we don't want to say which names we re considering. We don't want to commit ourselves yet.'* The princess from Philadelphia wore a maternity suit of black and white checked wool designed by Christian Dior. Her blond hair was pulled back tightly in a French twist as it was on her wedding day. Her pink fur felt hat. she said, was made by a milliner in Monte Carlo. -She said she has no special plans to shop for maternity clothes here, but

She will not go to Hollywood on this trip, she said, because she is not supposed to fly and "there isn t time” to go by train. Former Attorney 1 •■ " I General Is Dead ~ Homer S. Cummings J Dies At Washington WASHINGTON (UP) — Former attorney general Homer Cummings, father of the famed supreme court "packing" plan, died Monday at his home. The 86-year-old lawyer had ft heart ailment. Dr. Paul Dickens, his physician, said he died quietly in his sleep. Cummings was the late President Roosevelt's first attorney atu, eral. He served nearly yeaVsi, retiring Jan. 1. 1939 to return to private law practice. Democratic national chairman Paul M. Butler said in a statement that the Democratic party mourns the "loss of a true friend and a tireless worker." Although Cummings disagreed with some of the features of the New Deal., he fought vigorously to keep it alive. He fathered the plan to enlarge the supreme court which was regularly blocking New Deal laws. The plan was opposed violently in Congress by Democrats as well as Republicans and was defeated. However, the result was that several older conservative court members stepped down, enabling Roosevelt to appoint a majority to the high court. . Red Cross Office To Be Closed Wednesday % The local office of the American Red Cross chapter will be closed all day Wednesday according to an announcement by Mrs. Wanda Oelberg, executive secretary of the Adams county chapter. Mrs. Joe Hunter, co-chairman of the county blood program: John Duff, county Red Cross chairman, and Mrs. Oelberg will attend a regional meeting on the blood program at Lake Winona. A meeting of the board of directors of the county Red Cross chapter is scheduled for Wednesday night at the Decatur Youth and Community Center. On the agenda for the meeting are various reports and the awarding of certificates to volunteers. Second Friendship Feast Here Sunday The second friendship feast will be held at the First Presbyterian church Sunday evening, opening with the pitch-in dinner at 5 o’clock. The committee in charge is composed of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Petrie and Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Rydell. The program will be a set of colored slides showing the missions stations of the church in the U.S.A., as seen and described in a transcription by Mr Cook. Emphasis of the evening will be on welcoming newcomers into the fellowship of the cfiurch. Fort Wayne Boy Is Suffocated Monday FORT WAYNE (UP)— William Julian. 3. Fort Wayne, suffocated Monday night when he fell in an outdoor toilet. . His brother, Harry Jr., fi, heard his screams and ran for help. Mrs. Grace Wilson of Morion, their grandmother, tried to telephone for help but the phone was dead. Harry ran to neighbors who called firemen. Mrs. Wilson was taking care of the' boys while their .mother gave birth to a son Monday.

Boy Uninjured When Tractor Hits like ‘ Vaugn Call, 10-year-old sod of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Call of St. Mary's street, escaped injury Monday at 4 p.m. when his-bicycle was struck by a tractor and he was thrown under a parked car on Washington street. The tractor, pulling a load of tomatoes, was operated by Thomas F. Ulman of Decatur routa tbraa. Ulman stated that he had to swerve to avoid hitting an oncoming car and the tractor shuck the bicycle., Another minor accident occurred Monday at the intersection of Madison and 16 th streets where cars operated' by Alvina Schroeder of Decatur route one and Ruth Ann Girod of Deeatur collided. Both failed to stop at the unmarked intersection. Damage was estimated at |SO to the Schroeder car. No estimate was available on damage th the other vehicle.
Complete Plans For Leadership School The Decatur ministerial association, at its first fall meeting Monday. completed plans for the leadership training school to be presented by the Associated Churches of Decatur, with the first session from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. next Monday at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church. This is a training school for church workers of all churches in the city. Those planning to attend are asked to enroll in their own churches or call the Rev. Benj. G. Thomas. committee chairman.. Pastors of the county churches are invited to attend, with their leaders. Attend Fall Meeting Os Wabash Presbytery .The Rev. gay j. Walther, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, and W. E. Petrie, elder delegate, attended the fail meeting of the Presbytery of Wabash River at the First church in Fort Wayne. This evening, several Decatur person’ will attend the closing communion service of the meeting at 7:30 o'clock, with David Proffitt, moderator of the Presbyterian church in the United States, as the principal speaker. He is a church elder and was elected to the high office at the Philadelphia meeting in May.
