Parliament Is 1 Summoned Into Extra Session Recall Parliament From Summer Recess To Meet Wednesday LONDON (UP) —Prime minister Sir Anthony Bden today recalled parliament from its summer recess to au emergency session next Wednesday in a clear indication Britain wants a settlement of the Suez Canal dispute within the week. The only major issue before the special session of parliament would be the use of the big AngloFrench expeditionary force now building up in the eiastern Mediterranean. if there is no settlement. Eden and his cabinet —including the army, navy and air ministers — made the decision to recall parliament from its 2H-month summer vacation during an extraordinary meeting today. The new first lord of the admiralty, Lord Hailsham, attended the cabinet session. His presence Indicated a possible tough policy. Before he took office last Sunday he had written that the canal users “have the means to impose their will on Egyptian President (Gamal Abdel) Nasser and it must be done.” There was no longer any serious doubt that Britain was girding for military action in the Suez dispute if Nasser finally rejects the results of the London conference on Suez. The recall of parliament followed demands from the opposition Labor party that the legislators be consulted before force is used. o 0 County Agent's Column o 0 Care of Trees Recent windstorms in north-cen-tral Indiana sene as a reminder that men have contributed to the Joss or severe damage of many shade trees, reports H. W. Gilbert, Purdue University extension land* scape architect. According to Gilbert, a large percentage of downed or broken trees were hollow, decayed, or weak branched because of improper methods used to control tree growth in previous years. Professional arborists. with knowledge of the ha Bits of different kinds of trees, know how to apply' their craft in pruning a tree to assure its future welfare. To- these! arborists, the methods used by others which lesson the span of life and welfare of a tree often are referred, to as ‘"be-heading” or “batcher”. Gilbert believes that in many cases homeowners have waited too long before employing proper methods or professional arborists. For best jiesults. corrective pruning, should be done, anticipating the problem of size before it gets out of hand. — — —-. .. With the current loss of trees by disease and storms, the value of a good tree is more noticeable. Persons who plan to plant trees on home grounds have an opportunity to select from a wide variety. There are many trees to serve the purpose desired by the homeowner and which require a minimum of maintenance. Gilbert says. A bulletin on transplanting and care of shade trees can be obtained from the local county extension office. .’•• t Light Money Flew BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
