B i X ~ THE RECENT MARRIAGE of Miss Alice Janet Tumbleson and Bennett Lee Kemp took place in tffte Tumbleson home with the Rev. Benjamin G. Thomas reading the nuptial vows for the double-ring ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tumbleson of Willow Wood Farm and Mrs. Martha Kemp of Valparaiso. The bride is a graduate of Monmouth high school and attended Indiana University. Before her recent marriage she was a cashier-bookkeeper at the City Utilities. Her husband was graduatde from Guilford high school in Guilford, N. C., and Indiana Technical College. He is now an instructor of aeronautical engineering at Indiana Technical College in Fort Wayne. The couple will reside on route two, Ossian, after September 15.
Deane Dorwin, of this city was the speaker at a meeting of the men's class of the Magley Reformed Church Wednesday evening. Mrs. Dick Heller has returned to Decatur after a visit in Bronson. Mich, with Mr. and Mrs. David Hensley and Mrs. Veda Hensley Orff. Odell Foley, medical student at Indiana University. Indianapolis, returned to that city after a visit with his mother. Mrs. Mildred Foley. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Petrie and Mr. and Mrs. Deane Dorwin will leave Friday morning for a several days visit in Michigan. Friends hefe have received word that Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Timmons ate enjoying their Canadian vacation. Timmons is a Dally Democrat employe. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Aeschliman and children have returned to their home in Cincinnati, 0.. after visit ing several days with Mrs. Aeschlirnstfs parents. Mr. and Mrs. - Jesse Niblick. Mrs. R. B. Lano of Sanford, N. C., is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Niblick. Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Fpfeman have received word their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Howard Foreman ot throat surgery recently at the St. Mary's hospital in Racine. Her condition is reported as satisfactory. Ted Zayner, a former coach at .Decatur Catholic high school, vis ited in Decatur today. Mr. and Mrs. Zayner and their daughter, Patricia, are vacationing at Lake George. At the Adams county memorial hospital: David and Bonnie Affolder Milholland of Linn Grove are the parents of a baby boy born Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.. weighing nine pounds and 8% ounces. MISS CAROL ARCHER IS MARRIED RECENTLY Miss Ca+ol Archer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elton Archer of P’easant Mills, and Wendall Berr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Beer of route three, Decatur, were recently ' married in the parsonage of the' Union Chapel Evangelical Unite'll Brethren church. The Rev. L. T. I Norris officiated (or the double-ring ceremony. The bride wore a medium bine, waltz-length dress with a light blue stole attached. The dress was of soft nylon tulle and net over taffeta'She word a blue flowered tiara and a corsage of red royes. Miss Kay Archer attended her sister as mald-of-honor in a yellow crystalette waltz-length dress. She wore a yellow flowered tiara and a corsage of red roses. Donald Dick, friend of the bridegroom, served the bridegroom as best man. A reception was held for the immediate family and friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leßoy Beer. The table was centerd with a fourtiered wedding cake. Servers included Mrs. Thomas Harrell, Mrs. Leßoy Beer, Jr., and Mrs. Joseph Call. The honored guest was Miss Donna Lob Kortenber, whose marriage to Robert Underwood of Murphysboro, 111., will take place Saturday morning at 11 o’clock. MISS PAT -HESS HONORED AT BRIDAL SHOWER A miscellaneous bridal shoiyer was glyen recently in honor of Miss Pat Hess. Miss Hess and ; Steve Gass will exchange vows I September 1, in the rectory of the I St. Mary’s Catholic church. | Miss Carolyn Meyer was hostess ' for the event at her home, 916 High street. Assisting hostesses i were Miss Carolyn Owens and I Miss Kay Johnson. As Miss Hess arrived, she was presented with a corsage of peach and white colored roses. The Meyer home was appropriately decorated ' with multi-colored gladioli and fall colored roses, and the tables were decorated in coral and white, and aqua and white. Several games and contests were enjoyed with the prizes being won by Mrs. Arthur Heimann, Mrs. Victor Brajin, Mrs. Wendall Beer, Miss Kay Archer, and Miss Sharon Fisher, who in turn presented them to the guest of honor. The bride-elect’s gifts were placed on a very colorful table which was centered with a bridal dolt. A scrap book was made for Miss Girod and other games were played Prizes were won by Miss Helen Roth, Miss Carolyn Fraughiger, and Mrs. Girod, who in turn presented them to the honored guest. EAGLES AUXILIARY HOLDS INITIATION The Eagles auxiliary number 2653 initiated a class of candidates last evening at the local hall. Initiatory work was conducted by the Van Wert, Ohio, degree and drill team, after which the charter members and the past presidents of the organization were honored. These honored members were conducted to the dining room which was decorated with flowers. The center table held a large birthday cake with six candles and the lettering F. O. E. Approximately 65 members and guests attended the affair. The next regular meeting will be held next Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the Eagles hall. A birthday party will follow the meeting. The K. of C. auxiliary will meet at the K. of C. hall Friday evening at 8:15 o’clock. The committee in charge will be the Mesdames Mark Braun, Vera Kleinhenz, William Berling, and Herman Gilllg. - The Misses Sharon Kimble and Marilyn Jaberg entertained with a going away party in Fort Wayne Wednesday night for Miss Karen Strikler. A delicious dinner was served by the hostesses and the honored guest then opened her many nice gifts. Dee Callow Suffers Arm Fracture Tuesday Dee Callow, 10-year-old son of Mr. and 'Mrs. Hoyt Callow of 303 North 10th street, sustained a broken arm Tuesday afternoon when he fell from the roof of a barn in the neighborhood. He was treated at the Adams county memorial hospiital and released. Neighbor's Dog Nips Young Decdtur Lad Sammy Baumann, 10, son of Mr| and Mrs. Ernie Baumann of 821 North ilth street, was bitten by a neighbor's dog Wednesday evening. The bite was a minor one on the boy’s ankle. He was treated by a local physician. The owner of the dog has been instructed to keep Se dog tied up for the * next 10 vs to see if rabies devcl|ip.
