MISS CONNIE STRICKLER HONORED AT SHOWER Miss Phyllis Singleton entertained Thursday evening with a lovely bridal shower for Miss Connie Strickler, in the fellowship basement of the Church of God parsonage. Miss Strickler will become the bride of Glen Rowen, Saturday, August 25. The entertaining room was decorated in blue and yellow and the same color scheme was carried out on the gifts table, where the gifts were placed under a decorated umbrella. Upon her arrival Jhe bride-elect, was presented with a lovely corsage. after which she was ushered to her position of honor and several appropriate contests were played. Prises were won by Mrs. A. C. Smith and Mrs. Kenneth Watkins, who in turn presented them to the honored guest. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Those attending in addition to Mi-*s Strickler and the hostess were: the Mesdames Eugene Hurst, Kay Ratcliff, Earl Sprunger, Corinne Miller, Roy Nidlinger, Kenneth Watkins, Gilbert Strickler, John Burkhart, W. SANDRA COOKSON HONORED AT BIRTHDAY PARTY A party was held Wednesday afternoon in honor Sandra Cookson on her ninth birthday. Refreshments were served by Sandra’s brother Dennis, Carolyn Affolder, and Kaye Ann Noack. . ANNUAL PICNIC HELD BY GARDEN CLUB > The Rose Garden club held their , annual family picnic recently at i Hanna-Nuttman park. A short.Jjus- , iness meeting was held and games • were enjoyed. The garden club will be enter- ’ tained next Tuesday by the Berne Garden club. All members wishing to attend are asked to meet at 6:30 o’clock that evening at the home of Mrs. Haley. The Catholic Ladies of Columbia will hold a potluck supper Tuesday evening at the C. L. of C. hall. The committee will furnish the meat and rolls. The Ruth and Naomi circle of the Zion' E. and R. church will’ meet Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the church parlor. ted the lesson entitled, “Religion in the Home.” A humorous reading was given by Mrs. Harrison Miller and Leonard Schug presented an accordian solo. Refreshments were served by the Mesdames Norris Riley, Austin Merriman, Carl Schug, and Charles Shoaf. The Preble township Sunny circle home demonstration club will meet Tuesday at the Preble recreation center at 8 o’clock. Members note the change in date. Mrs. Otto Hildebrand and Mrs. Robert Beery will serve as hostesses. w "* \ The Lough reunion was held at Hanna-Nuttmgn park recently with 82 present. Officers were elected. The oldest person present was Robert Lough, Sr., of Geneva, who> is 80,.years old. Greg Wheeler was the youngest person present and he is two and one-half months old. A going away party was held Thursday evening for Miss Karen Striker, with Miss Pauline Lobsiger as hostess. Pizza pie was served and Miss Striker was presented with a lovely gift. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lobsiger, and the Misses Pauline Lobsiger, Gwen Hilyard. Marlene Laurent and Miss Striker. A recent meeting was held by the Pleasant Mills Methodist W.S. C.B. at the church. The president. Mrs. Clyde Jones, opened the meeting. after which Mrs. Nancy Springfield gave devotions and the lesson on “How Real is the_Kingdom to Us.” Mrs. John Bailey read a poem. Miss Myrtle Sheets wap a guest. RefAshmAnts were Mrs. Leland Ray and Mrs. Charles Morrison. Mrs. Nancy Davidson recently entertained the Salem Methodist W.S.C.S, Mrs. Waldo Schindler opened the meeting with prayer and devotions were given by Mrs. Carl Schug. The lesson was presented by the Mesdames Lawrence Carver. Merle ißiley, and Floyd Meyer. Mrs. Schindler gave a talk on her mission work. Mrs. Austin Merriman then read several poems. The next ’ meeting will lie held at the home of Mrs. Claude Foreman. Refreshments were served and the closing prayer was given by Mrs. Merle Riley.
