MISS LOIS M. METZGER WEDS BARRY W. GABLE. Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Miss Lota M. Metzger became the bride of Barry W. Gable in a dou-ble-ring ceremony which took place at the First Baptist church ta Decatur, with the Rev. Stuart H. Brightwell officiating. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. John F. 'Metzger of Ohio City, 0., formerly of this city, and Mr. and Mrs. George Gable of Ajo, Ariz. The musicale was presented by Mrs. C. E. Bell, organist, and Mrs. Clint Reed, vocalist. A waltz-length dress of white chantilly and tulle lace was chosen by the bride. The dress was fashioned with a bouffant skirt over satin having Alternate bands of tulle lace? ending in a flounce of tulle. The skirt feU over loops and crinoline, strapless bodice was topped with a boleno-length jacket of chantilly and tulle lace and featured a Peter Pan collar. Her fingertip veil of imported illusion was held in place by a satin and lace plateau headpiece. Attending as matron-of-honor was Mrs. Stuart H. Brightwell. She was attired in a waltz-length crystal dress in apricot shade featuring a sweetheart neckline with a large collar forming cap sleeves. She wore a head band to match. Donald L. Liechty attended as best man and ushers were Robert Metzger and Donald Metzger, both brothers of the bride. One-hundred-and-fifty guests attended the reception which was held in the church parlor immediately following the ceremony. A four tiered wedding cake centered the reception table. The cake was decorated tn yellow and green icing, .nestled in huckleberry branches. Serving the guest were Miss Linda Gamsby, Cynthia and Cecilia Lehman. For traveling the bride chose a blue and white silk street-length dress with white accessories and a corsage of Talisman roses. The bride is a graduate Os Decatur high school and was. employed as a bookkeeper'for Schafer Hardware store. Her husband received his education in Philadelphia, Pa., Tolleson and Phoenix, Ariz., and Lamson's business college in Phoeniz. He is now the editor of the Ajo Copper News. MRS. TED EADY IS HOSTESS TO MEETING Mrs. Ted Eady entertained the Gals and Pals home demonstration club Tuesday evening. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Warren Wolf, president. Mrs. Lowell Noll presented a very interesting lesson on “Civil Defense." She brought out several first aid and safety measures to use in the event of an enemy evasion. Mrs. Richard Hamrick, safety leader, gave a summary of the safety lesson entitled “Stoves and The Safe Operation of them in the Home." The meeting was closed with the “Lord’s Prayer.” Refreshments were then served by the hostess. Mrs. Eady, and co-hostess, Mrs. Wayne Clouse. MORE COMMITTEES * NAMED FOR AUCTION | Two more committees were anounced today by Mrs. Edgar Kueckeberg and Mrs. Theodore Bleeke, co-chairmen of the Valpo guild auction sale Saturday beginning at 2 o’clock. The Mesdames Herman Dierkes, Lloyd Bowman, Phil Sauer, and Harold Thieme will be in charge of the food stand during the lata, afternoon hours. A Urge variety of delicious homemade pies, a'ong with hot sandwiches and drinks will be featured at the stand. Assisting during the evening hours will be the Mesdames Theodore Bleeke, Herman Steele. Arthur Doctor, Louis Doctor and Albert Bieberich. Mrs. Vernice Fawbush was pleasantly surprised recently on her birthday. She received many gifts and a wiener bake was enjoyed. Those present ineluded Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bieberch, Lavonne Thomas, Mr. and MVs. Don Burke and daughters Kaye and Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Bleeke and family. Willard Fawbush, Sandra. Jay and Mike Fawbush, and the honored guest. To Install Legion Officers Monday Harry Tibbals, Jr. Auburn, district commander of the American Legion, will install new officers for 1856-57 for Ada ms past at the Legion Home here Monday night at 8. o’clock. O. W. P. Macklin is the outgoing commander and Frank will be installed as commander for the new year. AII members of the Legion are invited to the installation ceremony, BERKELEY, Calif. — (UP) — The University of California’s annual summer program for the state's lawyers will be he'.d here the week of Aug. 6. The program will consist of three-one-week courses in current legal developments and new techniques.

Burney, former Indiana state health commissioner, late Wednesday was sworn in for a four-year term as surgeon general of the public Service. Burney, 49, succeeded Dr. Leonard Scheele, Fort Wayne, who resigned effective Aug. 1, to ented private businnenss. Workman Is Burned In School Blast CARMEL. Ind (UP) — William Myers, 21, Carmel, suffered thirddegree burns Wednesday when an explosion ripped through the Carmel school cafeteria. The blast apparently accurred when paint remover was ignited by a gas stove. Damage was estimated at $4,000 Meyers was hospitalized Jn Noblesville.

Three Terrorists Executed In Cyprus Greeks Retaliate By Calling Strike NICOSIA, Cyprus (UP)—British authorities hanged three terrorkillers in the prison here before dawn today, the Greek - speaking natives retaliated by calling an island • wide “general strike.” The three men executed at 2:30 a.m. for ‘'hets of terrorism” were Ylanis Patatsou. murderer of a Turkish policeman; Andreas Zakos and Charlilaos Michael, ambushmurderers of a British-soldier. An army hangman was flown from England to execute the trio. It was the third time this year the ninth of a month has marked a milestone in the endless.friction. LOS ANGELES — (UP) — An atomic device, developed at the University of California Medical Center at Los Angeles by Dr. Donald E. Burke, has proved to be in locating hard-to-flnd kidney stones during surgery. GENEVA, N. Y. — (UP) — The soldiers’ plot in the Glenwood Cemetery here is not always the quiet place it should be. Someone apparently gets a bang out of touching off a blast in the Civil War cannon on display in the cemetery. Twice this spring neighborhood residents were roused from sleep by explosioons. Both blasts were traced to the old firing piece.
